Diner Reviews
  • "Perfect venue for our after-wedding dinner. We had a simple civil ceremony with just a couple of friends. Going to The Port for an early dinner made it very special. Our friends from Toronto loved the place and was surprised that we had a place like that in Pickering. The food was really good. The Salmon was perfect as usual. Our Alaskan Halibut was a little small for the price. And it was really spicy, which I didn't expect. Maybe I didn't read the description well and wasn't expecting it to be that spicy. My wife liked it though and said she'll order the Halibut next time we come. Service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. Always great when it's not too packed and noisy. Coming back for sure."

  • "I had found Port on-line while trying to find a good place in Durham for brunch. I had moved recently from the GTA and was used to a very large assortment of superb places to have brunch anywhere from the beach to Queen West. Port turned out to be as good as I hoped it would be. The menu looked promising as did the location. The staff was very friendly and professional, ensuring all our needs were met. The food was fantastic !! Presentation was appetizing, ingredients obviously fresh and the serving sizes were not to big, not too small, just right. The prices were on par with any great GTA establishment and you certainly got your money's worth. I have already recommended Port to other friends and will definitely be returning."

  • "Must check out! It wasn't so busy so they were very accommodating on giving us a seat by the window. Great food and drinks tried for brunch. Go for a romantic walk at the beach after, which is only 5-10mins walk away."

  • "Great hidden waterfront gem in Pickering. Great food, ambiance and service. Glad to see that you had our Dillon's Gin 22 in the bar. Thank you for supporting a local Distillery. Gary Huggins, Dillon's Small Batch Distillers"

  • "We usually enjoy Port although this past week we were disappointed. The temperature in the bar and restaurant was uncomfortably cold (on one of the milder evenings we have had recently). Ordered the steak frites...steak really chewy, stick with the burger it's always good. There was a large party in the bar when we got there however they moved into the restaurant for some sort of celebration and they were loud and obnoxious....cheering, clapping and whistling."

  • "Server was very professional, friendly and efficient. Grilled calamari were presented perfectly.Salmon was spectacularly moist and the bite sized curried knochi? melted away in my mouth, an unusual surprise but delicious non the less."

  • "We were moved to the lounge from the dining room due to a wedding party. We were advised of htis in advance, but not when we booked. Service was very slow. Constantly blamed on the wedding party. Coffee did not arrive wiht brunch. was ready 10 minutes later. One in our party ordered beer with lunch which was delivered when his lunch was almost finished. It was bottled beer, not sure why it would take so long. Special was pulled pork. It was warm (not hot) and watery. Seemed it had been cooked from frozen. Was pretty much tasteless. Other food was good however. Waitress constantly apologized for the delays but seervice did not get better."

  • "Went with another couple. we were all very impressed with the high level of service and thoroughly enjoyed appetizers, drinks, main courses (i had the veal shank and it was fabulous) as well as our desert and specialty coffees. We stayed and talked for another 45 mins after paying the check with noone trying to rush us out. Wonderful night!"

  • "Port is a great spot for any special occasion and the food is always done to perfection. Port is a beautiful, upscale restaurant by the water, with a more formal dining area and also a more casual seating area by the bar. There's also an inviting patio surround by water and is a perfect setting for relaxing on a Sunday afternoon lunch with friends. This restaurant is just gorgeous, with large unobtrusive windows that provide a stunning view. If you time it just right, you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets from inside or out! I've been here several times and i highly recommend giving Port a try. A+++++"

  • "There was a big group (75) at the restaurant when we were there. The restaurant should have known ahead to staff more servers for that party instead our server had to dedicate themselves to serve that group with other servers. Our server was great when she was helping us but was seen overworked. Food was good as usual . They don't have our table ready do we had to dine in the lounge where the party was instead of the dinning room."

  • "My girlfriend and I chose to go to the Port for a change of venue from our typical night out. The ambience was perfect for a date night, and the absence of children or loud parties made it conducive for great conversation and a little romance. Both our meals and starters were delicious, and the Cotton Candy martini my girlfriend had was "to die for" according to her. The wide selection of local ale was a great plus for me. The only issue we had is once we were seated it took over 10 minutes to be waited on which was a little off putting. However, once we were joined by our server it was excellent service. We would definitely return to Port and look forward to night out during warmer weather to enjoy the patio."

  • "My husband and I had a great night at the Port. We sampled many items on the menu. Don't miss the jalapeño cornbread. It was awesome. My husband had the roasted chicken supreme. It was indeed only moist and delicious. I had the brisket/bacon meatloaf Wellington - it was very good, my only complaint is that I was full from everything else by that point. I dont remember our servers name, but she was very friendly. We have been to the Port for drinks on the bar side many times, but this was our first meal. We will be back for sure."

  • "We had a overall good time, but the only complaint would be that the main did take quite some time to come out... They did come and explain that one dish had a issue and they were working on it and that that person would be reimbursed for thei food but no one else was accommodated for the wait... They could have offered complimentary desert if something to the rest of us."

  • "The location and ambiance of this restaurant somewhat justifies the slightly inflated prices. Overall the food was good but nothing really special. Since this was my first visit, and I did enjoy my experience, I'll be back to try some other dishes to truly rate this establishment. I must try their steaks next."

  • "I really enjoyed the dinner. I tried the special 3-Course menu with the beverage pairing and loved it. I really liked the wines that they paired with the courses and I loved the Squid-Ink Papardelle. It was fresh, and vibrant, not what I expected, but really nice. I wish they'd add it to their regular menu so that I can have it again in the future. My partner had the trusted Salmon dish, very nicely done, as always. The server was really attentive, and she seated us in a nice quiet spot by the window with a view, as I requested. The Port is really our go-to dining place now, especially that it's close to our home, and the view is always fantastic, summer or winter."

  • "It's a hotspot alright and a good one. But after being there many times I've seen the food quality fall. We had the Lamb Rigatoni and it was a little lacking in flavour and the pasta was over cooked and mushy. Also had the special which was Halibut. While the fish was good it was on a bed of finely diced potatoe which still had a crunch to it and was undercooked (almost raw) and under seasoned. Not sure what's happening but although I love this place, they need to be careful with their food consistency. Quality has fallen off over the last year. I will be back for sure and just hope this review is heard and addressed. Service is always great and friendly."

  • "We went on a Saturday night and had made a reservation through Open Table for 7:15. I'm still not sure what the problem was but it took an hour before we were seated. The manager was very apologetic and did buy us a round of drinks. That aside, the service was excellent and the food was definitely worth the wait! It was a little noisy but there were a couple of large parties that night, so I'm sure that had something to do with the noise level. I would recommend this restaurant and would certainly go back!"

  • "I have lived in the Pickering area for 30 years and never knew that Ports existed. A friend recommended that we reserve seating for a New Year's Eve dinner and, presto, there it was. It was so easy booking a reservation on-line through Open Table. My wife and I were not disappointed. We have agreed to return to Port restaurant in the spring for our anniversary."

  • "we decided to go out for dinner as a Christmas gift to our neighbors. i chose this restaurant because my partner and I had visited port during the summer months and enjoyed it very much. Our experience this time was excellent as well. When we first walked in it was quite smokey as they were searing salmon. We were shown to our seats and our waiter introduced himself. I do not recall his name now as some time has passed but he was incredible. Very charismatic and involved all of us in conversation. The food was delicious, the ambiance perfect, and the staff were amazing. We truly enjoyed the evening. thank u"

  • "We decided to go to Port Restaurant, having been there for weekend brunch and dinners before, for a lunchtime meeting just before the holidays. The restaurant was hopping -- many groups, families and couples had the same idea. The tables are arranged well, allowing for privacy while partaking in the happy vibe of the place. The volume of music helped to mask the lively discussions and laughter. We were soon swept up in the energetic atmosphere. The lunch menu is a bit smaller than the dinner menu but there was an excellent variety. We purchased a bottle of wine, ordered starters and entrees, and enjoyed after-meal coffees. The service was attentive, the food was brought promptly. Highly recommended for lunch! Port has never disappointed us."

  • "Although the restaurant was quite loud, because of all the Christmas festivities, the server was very pleasant and very professional, and the food was really very good. The selection of wines was also impressive, and desserts were outstanding."
