  • "It was a really busy Friday night, they were dealing with multiple large groups. We were seated quickly, our sever didn't acknowledge us for five minutes. We got splinters from the table. We placed our drink and food order all at once, it took over ten minutes to receive our drinks. The food arrived right after, it was so amazing! Our server never checked on our meals or offered us another beverage. We had to ask for silverware which took a few minutes to get, it was still wet from being washed. The bathrooms were overflowing with trash and obvious accidents. It was disgusting, hopefully the employees have their own bathroom. Maybe that's why she didn't offer us a second drink. Food was the most delicious BBQ in this part of the city."

  • "We started off on the wrong foot by dining at Porkchop during the Taste of Randolph. The restaurant was not running as smoothly as I suspect it does during normal operations. It took over twenty minutes to get the first round of drinks, and second round took almost as long. The food was very long in coming, and the quality poor. The barbeque chicken was overcooked and dry. The wedge salad-- at at cost of $10!-- was not as billed, with six scant pieces of bacon on the brownish lettuce and two or three crumbles of bleu cheese. The waiter was overworked and inattentive. I would not even make the effort to give this place a second chance. It does not deserve to sit on Chicago's "restaurant row.""

  • "We were very satisfied with our experience here at Porkchop. I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday and he was very pleased. The service was quick and friendly. We were a little late for our reservation but had no trouble being seated right away. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. We will be back for seconds! "

  • "I came to Porkchop with 2 coworkers for lunch. The food was very good, sausage lollipop are Great, ribs very tender and worth returning for. The mac & cheese needs work and the fish tacos were tasty! Overall the food was great but the service is a bit slow! They need to step it up a bit especially during lunch time!"

  • "The cooks are lazy as not everything is prepared when order. For example the French fries were barely warm, also I ordered the fried green tomato BLT. Sounds good right? Well, the green tomatoes were not fried when order as they were also barely warm. The bacon was cooked to order which made the sandwich reasonable for consumption. The wait staff, Chelsea, was mediocre at best. We asked to switch tables when being seated and she said sure but she left us to grab the menus to bring to the next table. I ordered sweet potato fries with my sandwich; when the food comes I had regular fries and sweet potato. She didn't bother to point out the sandwich came with fries."

  • "I recommended Porkchop to a visiting friend who loves whiskey. All of my previous times were stellar, so I was very disappointed in the service this time around. There was only one waitress on duty, but no hostess and no bartender. Luckily, it was practically empty but she still took forever to brings us our drinks and take our order. We saw her looking up how to make our cocktails, and when she finally did figure it out, she brought two of the same beverage. Neither was the one I ordered. She apologized for the slip-ups, saying she'd been "thrown to the wolves" but my question is why was she even in that position in the first place? I never saw a manager or anyone who looked like upper level staff. As I said, very disappointing. "

  • "We were pleased overall with food and decor. They have high chairs but no kids menu. We had to "self-serve" our own small plates after apps arrived, I asked waitress for small plates when they should have automatically brought them to the table prior to food arriving. We waited on waitress so long that our pulled pork tacos became cold. This was my mother's 71st birthday and she had to get our plates so we could eat. They kept trying to give me my son's food when i asked the server to bring it with the meal. Serivce not good at all but I would go back to try other items on the menu and be prepare for subpar/bad service...If service was MUCH BETTER, it would have been a great experience...please train wait staff"

  • "When I ordered a Hippie - the veggie burger - I did not expect a frozen Morningstar patty, available at Jewel for about 89 cents. To me it's like going out for breakfast and getting served an Eggo waffle. My corner dive bar serves a homemade veggie burger. For shame."

  • "It is hard to have a bad time when some of your all time favorite songs are playing, the beer list holds several of your favorite obscure beers, and the server is quick and friendly! The food was absolutely excellent as well. Two in our group had the hamburgers, one had the mouthful pulled pork sandwich, and I had the smoked chicken with house sauce which was magnificent! I was picking at the bones at the very end! We had the maple bacon doughnuts as well - but while they were wonderful they were a bit rich for our taste. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "Second time dining. We had an early reservation and had a tight dining window to catch a Bulls game. Our waitress got our orders in quickly and was patient in guiding us through drinks. Porkchop offer several different bourbon flights and our server was knowledgeable about all of them. One person in our party has several food allergies and gave the server a card listing them. She took it back to the kitchen and was able to tell our friend what to avoid. The ribs still had some chew and weren't over boiled. The sauces were each distinctive, the main ingredient (vinegar or chipotle) wasn't overpowering. Save room for the warm maple bacon donuts."

  • "The decor is nice, somewhat trendy and cozy. I was sitting off to the side of the restaurant where there were three 2-person tables towards the back. My chair was pushed in, but there is clearly not enough room for people to get around since the area is to small, the waitress (rather rudely) kept telling me to scoot in, but there was nowhere for me to go! The food was decent, I had the pulled pork tacos. I found the meat to be really bland with no taste, needed salt, and the taco shell completely disintegrated and I had to eat them with a fork. The best thing about the restaurant was the atmosphere and the beer list, but that's not enough for me to go back. The service was pretty rude and the food didn't compensate, better luck elsewhere."

  • "On my recent trip to Chicago, we wanted a place for late night dinner and drinks. After searching OpenTable for a open restaurant and table, we took a cab to the restaurant and enjoyed dinner and drinks. It was rather quiet for a Valentine's Friday night but our server was great and the food was great eventhough we had arrived just before the kitchen closed. It was easy to get to by cab and easy to catch a cab back to our hotel. I would highly recommend this place to friends and visit next I return to Chicago."

  • "The first issue with this place is the parking. They don't have valet during lunch hours which means we spent approximately 20 minutes driving around looking for a place to park. The food we had was incredibly mediocre. The chowder was bland, the pulled pork sandwich didn't taste very "barbeque-y", it had a sweetness to it that I just wasn't really liking. The bread pudding dessert was a bit rubbery. The service was decent, the ambiance was nice, but if I'm going back to a restaurant it's the food that needs to be on point, and this food was just...so-so."

  • "Food was excellent, but they seemed short staffed. We ordered two beers, took over 10 minutes to get them despite being next to the bar and maybe two people sitting at the bar? I don't blame our server, it seems as though she was spread thin and management was at fault. Appetizer and soup/salad come to the table at the same time, seemed a little cluttered and timing was off."

  • "Came with a group of 4 on a Sunday around noon. We'd heard good things about Porkchop, and we had high hopes for their brunch. When we got there, most of the tables were open, and the TVs were blaring the Hawks game. The food ranged from okay to not so great - very oily roasted potatoes, weirdly-deconstructed chilaquiles, and general blandness. They were also out of a couple of menu items and several draft beers. Overall, disappointing; can't say I'd go back for brunch. Their atmosphere seems better suited to dinner or just drinks."

  • "We had a large group and the restaurant accomodated separate checks. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. Several of us ordered the chicken and waffles...delicious! My father and father-inlaw raved about the chicken fried chop. The prices were very reasonable as well. The only negative was that the place is not very big so everytime the door opened you felt the cold air. I ate with my coat on."

  • "Porkchop is a hidden gem in the West Loop. It is on the restaurant rich Randolph Street, but stands alone in bringing a little southern flavor to the mix. Other than Wishbone, with it's Louisiana-- inspired menu, which is also good, I think that Porkchop brings out the other flavors and favorites of the south in it's BBQ, catfish and cornbread offerings. Also be sure to have the mushrooms and sauted spinach. Both are delicious and a nice side to the traditional fare."

  • "I really wanted to like the food, but sorry, I've had better...the etouffee was not true etouffee....it was deconstructed etouffee...not what I was looking for at all. Having southern roots, my family knows southern cooking, bbq, southern coastal, whatever you want to call it. We went to celebrate my friend's birthday and unfortunately, we left unsatisfied. Pleasant, but very slow service. Liked the decor a lot...especially the wall of saws...but there isn't enough to bring me back."

  • "In the middle of Chicago's trendy food and celebrity chef region is a classic casual BBQ diner. With its roadhouse/north woods decor, Porkchop offers excellent barbecue and smoked meats. Besides the namesake fare, the chicken entrees and vegetarian starters were equally as good. I recommend the elote' and Gumbo as a great accompaniment to your meal choices."

  • "I was looking for someplace around the United Center to grab a quick bite before a concert. I found Porkchop on OpenTable. Since we were on a schedule, I noted on the reservation that we were going to an 8:00 concert. Traffic was terrible so we called to switch our reservation from 6:00 to 6:30. We were told 'no problem'. When we arrived (about 6:25) and checked-in the girl at the desk said ' oh, your reservation was at 6:00 - you're late'. We explained that we switched the reservation to 6:30 - she replied 'oh' and then brought us to one of about 6 empty tables. Our server was friendly but slow. Our food was very good. Porkchop is a good place to go for comfort food but I'm not sure I'd return."

  • "The food was really good, with big portions for reasonable prices. However, we had a reservation (through Open Table) that they didn't have in their system. We were still seated but then no one waited on us. Staff walked by and saw us sitting there with no drinks or food and just kept walking. We eventually went to the hostess to ask for a server and she ended up waiting on us herself. She was nice but had lots of other jobs she was doing. We got our food but then had to flag someone down to ask for silverware. I got salt myself from another table and when we flagged another server down to ask for ketchup she looked annoyed that we were bothering her when she wasn't our waitress. But we didn't have a waitress!"

  • "It was a cold night outside when we visited, but it was warm and friendly inside. We had the chipotle bourbon ribs and the catfish. Both were nice and spicy-sweet. The corn bread was soft and delicious. The gumbo was thick and spicy. Everything was as it should be. Whiskey flights are an interesting idea. we enjoyed it and will go back. Service was friendly and attentive."
