  • "My meal was good. I ordered the fried catfish portions are small but okay. Service is very slow. It took a long time to get a drink. Ordered Ciroc they did not have any flavoring to add to it so I ordered a lemonade to pour my Ciroc into. We had a large party and they were unable to provide individual checks thought that this was crazy."

  • "We waited 30 minutes after being seated and then we had to call a waiter to the table. His response was, "Oh, you are ready to order?" Later, the manager came to our table and told us that one of the patrons questioned why it was taking so long for someone to come to our table. She apologized and told us that she would discount our meal. We appreciated that. We then got better service from the waiter. We didn't have to wait very long for the food to be served. The food was good, except that the pork ribs were a little fatty. The restaurant is new to Hyde Park, so we will try it again. Hopefully, the service will improve and the owner will buy leaner cuts of meat."

  • "The food misses the mark: it is one dimensional and lacks creativity. I ordered the much touted rib tips, and even though they we tender and boneless,, I could not taste the meat for overwheing amount of rub on the pork. The chicken wings were the same way. Too much spice, not enough natural flavor. The cole slaw was flavorless, and the smashed potatoes were flavorless. They did however, serve a good and tasty lemonade. Overall, I would say skip this tasteless spot."

  • "I was excited to trucks resturant that was new in Hyde park. The food was basic and to substitute the extra cost is ridiculous. The waitress was not educated about the menu and have the wrong information about items. I should of read the yelp reviews. Won't return."

  • "I've been twice now and the rib tips are so fantastic I had them both times! My hubby likes the pulled pork and Mac n' Cheese. I had my first Mint julep. Not really a whiskey fan, so I toned it down with a cola mix. I guess that defeats the point of a Mint Julep but it was perfect! I recommend it highly! Great experience but the place can fill up quickly. Only about 12 tables so make a reservation in advance. Open Table is a great service."

  • "This is my first time checking out this restaurant. The bar menu was bourbon-heavy, as advertised. I think the flights were interesting and had a lot of variety. I had the BBQ platter, which is a essentially "one of everything", and it was solid. The restaurant itself was really humid--enough to notice, but not enough to dampen the mood. I think the main issue is the service. We were seated quickly and greeted by the waitstaff, and then they disappeared. Then for the next "two quarters" of our evening, everything was great. Then they disappeared again. It was very odd. Overall, the food is good enough that it warrants a return; the place is new, so once the service catches up with the menu, I think this will be a great spot."

  • "This is my second visit to this restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and love being able to show off places to visitors. Both my visits were good and each time the waitresses were efficient and attentive. I must admit that each time I picked a time when the restaurant was relatively empty -- a plus for me. Will check out their Sunday brunch one day."

  • "I read the reviews regarding lack of service and ok food, but still took my family in hopes they made adjustments based upon the reviews and to support a new business in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, they lived up to their reviews."

  • "I was disappointed with my recent visit to the restaurant. My first visit was during their "soft opening" and felt the kinks would be improved now they're officially opened. However, it has not improved at all. The restaurant was practically empty, however the service was extremely slow, ran out of food items on the menu, food was not seasoned well at all. I thought all restaurants have "tasters" in the kitchen!!!! Oh well, not sure if I'll return anytime soon."

  • "I came here for brunch and was pleased with the french toast I ordered. My coffee was good, but for three dollars, I could have probably gotten something a little better to drink. Also, although it was about 11:00 AM on a Sunday, there was only one other table with customers in the restaurant! I know it opened recently, but I do hope it becomes busier. The service was excellent, however."

  • "I have dined at the Pork Chop on Randolph and it was much better. The food at this location was just ok. They were out of collard greens when I was there and it was a Monday night and very slow. They were very apologetic about the item running out, but they did not offer to give a complimentary side. The service was a bit too pushy. Our waiter came up to us every 5 min to ask if were ok. After a while it got to be annoying."

  • "I was hoping for a really good experience & in terms of service, I was very happy. I was less impressed with the food! I'll give this restaurant another chance because I didn't have the barbeque or the pork but the restaurant includes southern in its menu description so I tried the etouffee. Maybe it was the healthy version of the meal, because it really didnt have the substance of butter or the flavor. My dining companions had red beans & rice (red kidneys toss on some white rice, not creamy), the spinach (some odd flavor), and baked beans (thin, thin sauce) & the pulled pork sandwich which they reported was tasty. Now that I know what they mean by 'southern', I'll go in with a different attitude & expectation."

  • "So nice to be able to find fried pickles closer to home! They are so thick, you need a steak knife to cut, nicely coated with a corn meal jacket!. Portions are appropriately sized so don't expect leftovers. I suspect this is because the chef wants you to enjoy everything fresh. Nice neighborhood joint. "

  • "Still too new, under staffed and no management on site."

  • "I really like the friendly Ambience and surroundings. The food was great as always and very kid friendly as well. I will make this one of my favorite places to enjoy a great meal. "

  • "I went back-and-forth between three stars and four stars. Finally I went for four stars because this is a badly needed addition to the mid-south side restaurant scene. Comfortable; no major clothing restrictions; good, interesting food and a noise level that allows for easy conversation (at least when we were there). They still need to get some things together: 1) a list of cocktails 2) no desserts yet! But the restaurant is brand-new and definitely promising so I'll be back. "

  • "This place has awesome ribs and fried chicken. We went to its soft opening and the service was a little slow. Drink menus were not updated yet. Would recommend reservation. This location was great. Atmosphere pleasant. Great for kids even. Everything around it is new and bustling!"

  • "This place has great food and an amazing bar menu. It's still in the slow opening stage so I will not judge too harsh. Service was slow and waitress was uninformed about selections and sides but I suspect that to improve. An amazing hostess though. Food was on point. Chicken no matter slow smoked or fried, was incredible."

  • "At this writing, Pork Chop has not officially opened. They are still trying to get a handle on how to run their kitchen and the dining room. The ribs were delicious. My guest was also very happy with the seafood etouffe. Unfortunately, the sides menu leaves much to be desired. We asked for a side of cole slaw. What arrived was a small bowl with about 2 tablespoons (not exaggerating) of coleslaw. At $4 for this, we were not happy. My piece of cornbread arrived without the honey butter and looking rather shabby on the plate. Presentation should be considered. Our waitress was lovely and accommodating, apologizing for the problems, but clearly trying to make up for what the kitchen was not producing."

  • "The food was pretty bad and the prices too high. Despite the fact that they kept apologizing for service issues (perfectly understandable during a soft opening) they added in a 20% gratuity (after tax). We went with a big group of people solely to watch the NCAA national championship game. Even though the focal point of their seating area is a giant 90'' projector screen that they show games on, they wouldn't turn on the sound because (we were told) they wanted to listen to country music."

  • "The food was very good! The sides were a little small, but the barbecue was delicious, and I'd go back for that!"

  • "Kitchen was running 45 minutes behind - this is a BBQ place mind you so food should be cooking all day and not take long to plate. Restaurant should have called folks with reservations to let them know and at least comp a drink (for which they don't have a drink menu or even scrap of paper with which beers they have). The server was incredibly nice and attentive though."

  • "We dined here during the "soft opening" when the staff was training with actual customers. There were a few problems such as the kitchen being quite a bit behind and the lack of both a descriptive beer menu and wait staff familiarity with the beers. We were not in a hurry and didn't mind waiting. Our waitress consulted with the bartender and we obtained beers we enjoyed. The food was quite good when it arrived, especially the wings. I will definitely return and check it out again after the grand opening."

  • "My Hyde Park friends have been eagerly awaiting the opening of PorkChop. We were very disappointed by our meal. The restaurant was very chilly because staff had propped open the back door. Fix this. Time deliveries better. Customer's don't enjoy eating in a cold space. The food was OK, but not at all memorable. I asked for mustard to go with a burger. After a 10 minute wait the best they could offer was four plastic packets of mustard. If the food is just an excuse to maintain a liquor license, then I suppose it's going to serve its function. If the food is supposed to be an equal draw or the primary draw, I fear PorkChop in Hyde Park will not be a term survivor."

  • "Never had the chance to eat . Made reservations for 8:30 Friday night and when I showed up the doors were locked. Apparently, on Friday the only have two servers. So, the kitchen was backed up for two hours. Not only did the lock the doors, they did not hang a sign on the door for explanation. Gained access into the resturant by someone leaving, and the staff was VERY rude. Hyde Park locations was very disappointing."

  • "I'm giving Porkchop a break because I went during their soft opening, and soft it was. When I said I had a reservation through OpenTable they said "oh, we're not really using OpenTable yet." I had to wait for a table. It took 20 minutes just to get water and a full half-hour before our server arrived to take our order. We put in our drink and food order at the same time because we didn't know how long it would take for the server to return. Beer was great, fried pickles very good, but the corn bread was a disappointment for the size more than the taste. My chicken was cold and the sides were about 1/3 the size they should have been -- good french fries, average cole slaw. Add more servers!"
