Porkchop is an upscale neighborhood casual spot with family-size sides and lots of meat on the menu. While I enjoyed my Porkchop the size was too big. The noise level was too loud to hear people seated with me on the other side of the table. And the service was mediocre, not what I expected from this caliber of a restaurant. The waitress had to be reminded three tunes that we wanted sparkling water and forgot to bring the steamed spinach side until we were well underway with our meal.

I never have been treated so poorly at a restaurant. I never would go here when there are so many restaurants in this area that are far superior.

We went to Porkchop in August 2011 & I enjoyed the risotto enough to continue to try & convince my boyfriend to return even though he did not like his dish. Fast forward to April 2012 & we finally return but now I have lost any pull to convince my boyfriend to retry restaurants in the future. The fried chicken & waffle was more like chicken fingers &waffle. Typically a restaurant will serve a breast & a thigh but Porkchop gave 2 scrawny boneless pieces that looked like chicken fingers but tasted worse as they were more than overcooked. The catfish I had was quite tasty but since it was accompanied by over salted spinach & red beans & rice that was more of a soup (& very smokey)I have to say I would not go again. Even the dessert was sad.

I live close to this place so was hoping it would be a good casual place to visit, unfortunately it was just sort of a overpriced bar with mediocre bbq food. Sad.

I was absolutely surprised by how much I liked Porkchop. I am a fan of the West Loop and out of all the times that I have been in that area, I never even knew that Porkchop was there. The food was delicious, unique, "down home" cooking. The portions are huge--more than enough for two people to share an entree. The beer and whiskey selection is generous. It was just an overall great experience. I was with a group of 7 and our server was attentive and knowledgeable. We started with the sliders (divine), fried ribs (unique and flavorful), fried pickles, and chicken wings. Then I had the southern fried chicken, which was juicy with the best crust I have ever had--light, super crispy, fried just right, and full of flavor. I am officially a fan!

Had a good time at Pork Chop this past weekend, but there was some issues. First, they are way understaffed. Second, service is slow as a result of being understaffed. Example: We spent 2.5 hours there just for dinner. They provide water bottles at each table, but we finished ours fairly quickly with 4 people and it was never refilled. After we had waited a considerable amount of time, our food came, only to be short one plate because it was given to another table. Fortunately 2/4 of us ordered the same dish, so they shared until the other arrived. The only drink order we placed at the table was messed up. The food was good and the prices for the location are on point, but the issue of being understaffed was evident all night.
