Porcini - PhiladelphiaUsually PerfectOn a Wednesday evening it was unexpectedly ROARING loud at 7:30p. The food was, as always, glorious; the service, as always, attentive and swift and expert. But I've never before left there with my ears ringing; a regrettable first.
We might have to commit to Early Bird another time.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth going to!Although I was a little disappointed with the appetizer (bruschetta, ordinary) and dessert (tiramisu, a little dense), the pasta dishes were phenomenal. I would go back for any pasta entree the chef creates.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining ExperienceThis was our first time at Porcini. We had a great meal and wonderful dining experience. This tiny restaurant is owned and operated by two brothers. We also had their very nice nephew and a polite, attentive wait staff. They were all extremely friendly and engaging. The atmosphere is cozy which adds to the ambiance. The food was delicious! I had the Gamberi con Gremolata which was outstanding as was the mille foglie for dessert. My husband had the sea bass special which was also great.
And it's BYOB. We are thrilled to have found such a neighborhood gem! The entire experience was just delightful!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDavid( front of the house)David( front of the house) and Steven(kitchen) are always warm and welcoming to a great neighborhood spot for excellent Italian food....!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat first experience! This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! I'm an average college student who is always on a budget and works in customer service. So I know when service is sincere and immaculate. I just went to Porcini this past weekend with my boyfriend and we were celebrating an anniversary. We made reservations early, which made things go smooth. We were greeted by a very sweet and very kind waitress and an insanely nice general manager. We brought our own bottle of wine, which they chilled and brought us glasses for. The waitress knew the specials and menu inside and out. You could ask her anything! This place is REAL small. It's worth the cramp because the atmosphere is amazing and prices are kinda of high, but worth it, both quality and portion!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it5th time in as many weeks. Took different groups of people and we all loved it. Reasonably priced, food very good, especially bolognese, octopus, pappardelle, Caesar salad! Two brothers are extremely personable and make it fun! Love that is a byob. Only thing I would change are the wine glasses. Would prefer a proper red wine glass with my wine!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Italian family restaurantThe food here was great, but what really made it a wonderful experience was the personal attention from one of the co-owners. It's not a place I can go to all the time on my student budget, but I hope to return again for future special occasions.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, intimate spot withWonderful, intimate spot with great authentic Italian dishes and welcoming service.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThese two Italian brotherThese two Italian brother make dinning a joy and the food brings you back to home, if you are from Italy TRUE ITLAIAN FLARE ! ! A Pallets delight !
BRAVO !!!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere! And great food. Traditional Italian, nothing crazy. BYO brings the price down significantly for a group
You may end up singing!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPorcini Perfection! My family and friends have been going to Porcini's since its inception, and never have we been disappointed. The food is
fresh and delicious, the owner and servers most friendly and helpful, and the prices comparable to other quality Philly restaurants. The lovely thing about Porcini's is its intimate environment. Anyone who goes here will fall in love with it, too! One of the best kept secrets of the quieter side of the city.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely old style small ItalianLovely old style small Italian restaurant. Very good food, service and atmosphere. We had a great time and the the price is good for what you get. Would definitely go back.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMYes, it is small and tablesYes, it is small and tables are close together but reminded us so much of the little gems we found in Italy! The food was fantastic, small menu but enough of a choice for everyone. Our "neighbors" didn't know it was a byob so we shared our wine and they bought us dessert. How is that for brotherly love? Portions are not huge but we like it that way! Nothing worse than feeling like you need a walk around the block. Loved it so much that we tried to go back the next day but there weren't any available tables, so we made a reservation for the following week! By the way, we heard about this place from a couple we met at the a capital Grille the week prior. They were right on!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were extraordinaryFood and service were extraordinary both for me and for guests I brought from Washington D. C. While part of Porcini's charm is its small space, seating is very cramped, though, and thus comfort was a bit compromised.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for FoodiesFood was very good, but the service was spectacular. Place was wildly busy, but waitress and owner gave us very personal service.......one person couldn't eat cheese and it wasn't an ingredient on the menu, when it came she mentioned it, the waitress took it back immediately without any negative comment and the chef quickly made her a replacement without the cheese. The chef came out many times to make sure everything was fine. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. This place was terrific, really fine Italian food with a very caring staff. But the place is tiny, so on weekends you must make a reservation and be prepared to get very friendly with your neighbors.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappoints - straightforwardNever disappoints - straightforward Italian dishes, perfectly prepared with portions just right. Fettucine Bolognese was well-seasoned and not too heavy, and the veal medallions were tender, lightly sauced, and satisfying. Great decaf cappucino. Crowded intimate space works remarkably well and friendly, efficient service sets the standard. Bring your own wine, and they happily open and pour. Just go.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWas pleased to find it nestledWas pleased to find it nestled between other businesses and homes.. a little yellow break in a long wall of brick. Menu simple and fantastic. Food wonderful. We all ate more than we thought we would have. Service very good. Glad it was byob. Look forward to returning.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely foodWe had mushroom and salad appetizers and 3 pasta entrees - all excellent. This is a tiny place and the staff is not quiet - but we were delighted by the food. We ate early - hard to know how the noise might be by the end of the evening. Highly recommended.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPorcini delights -- again!Consistently creative and delicious dishes. Top notch service. Do not miss this restaurant but make a reservation!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, our experience atOverall, our experience at Porcini was wonderful -- great food, terrific service, loved the visit from the chef.
Even though the restaurant is very cramped for space, our server managed very well and we felt neither rushed nor neglected.
I will definitely go back again and have recommended it to my friends.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatGreat food, did I mention Great food! It's a little tight in there but the food is...Great!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent!Everything was excellent! We look forward to telling our frineds and going back real soon.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTry it before it gets crowdedWe had a 6:00 p.m. for two and when we arrived found the restaurant nearly empty, which was a treat because it enabled my wife and I, who had never visited this restaurant before, to meet with the owner-chefs and learn a bit about this outstandingly pretty and intimate restaurant. The food was outstanding, from the wonderfully prepared artichoke appetizer through the Caesar salad to the two entrees and dessert. My wife and I each ordered one of the two daily specials and special they were, one a St. Peter's fish in parchment and the other an unusually tender and savory stuffed cabbage. By the time we finished our tiramisu, the restaurant was filled to capacity with what were obviously repeat customers, which we will soon be as well.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPuny PortionsGreat food and I like the owner operators but unfortunately the thought I was left with mostly was one that I'm sure many have experienced with this restaurant; the portions are TOO SMALL!! Yes, the food is good but they definitely have to bump up the portion size. The prices aren't cheap so they're going to have to swallow a bit of cake ( pun intended )and serve bigger portions without raising prices. There is only so much bread I want to eat to make up for the puny portion size. This issue is keeping this good restaurant from becoming a great restaurant.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant! We had not been to Porcini in a while, and we were happy we returned. The service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Even though the restaurant was packed, the food was expertly prepared and quite delicious. We very much enjoyed the dinner and we hope to return soon. Try the pasta with mushroom: you won't be disappointed!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMgone for decade, bros best at bitesIt is my favorite italian place, and it feels like home while being professional.8/21/2012 12:00:00 AM
