I had the crab cake which was huge and tasted fabulous. I then had the Popi salad which was so wonderful. I just love the goat cheese. I then had the Veal di Mare which was just so good and tasty and consisted of veal , scallops , shrimp, and crab.
The desert was scrumptious and was the triple chocolate cake with espresso. The wine was stupendous. Although our waiter was very nice, our service was not extroidinary. It took almost 15 minutes to bring 2 bottles of beer to the table. Our water glasses were only filled after we asked for it.
We had a large group, one of which is elderly and our waiter spoke so softly no one could hear the specials.
So, although known for their service, we hit Popi's on an off night apparently. Popped in on Sunday night for a no fuss OT reservation and ate like vikings! Great antipasta special, great steam clams (WHITE), great fish special and of course the perfectly cooked lamb chops were ON POINT! Convenient to all of the sports venues, with a relatively large dining room & plenty of free parking, this is a no brainer before a game or concert. We had a few of the specials: a tropical salad topped with 5 delicious grilled shrimp, fresh mango and a light citrus dressing; and an entree of branzino topped with TONS of lump crab meat. Hubby had some menu items: fried calamari and chicken ala Popi. An absolute must is the tiramisu. I will stop in for the tiramisu and coffee any chance I get! Our meal with a beer and a glass of wine was under $100 before tip: reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Great restaurant experience as always. Hit up some old classics this time as we all picked some staples from the regular menu. My dinging companions chose the orecchiette and broccoli rabe with sausage, the dover sole, and I rocked it old school with the veal parm. Just tremendous. This quaint, family restaurant appreciates their customers, provides the correct amount of attention to same and makes sure everything is to your satisfaction.
