Diner Reviews
  • "Greeted warmly by front end staff. Told we had some guests waiting and were seated promptly. Staff was accommodating to late arriving guests. Wait staff attentive and the food was amazing. Appetizers to entrees everyone enjoyed their dinner. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Wow, the brunch buffet definitely missed the mark! While some of the items at the buffet were tasty, other items were dry (the corn bread!) and had been sitting out for some time. The idea of having the buffet is outstanding but the execution was a total miss. the cocktail, oh boy, has anyone else ever had to chew their Bloody Mary? So bad!"

  • "Food and service was good. Prices were a bit high though. Anxious to try lunch or brunch."

  • "The Pond House is very attractive but confusing inside...it gives off a classic vibe on the outside but inside are Andy Warhol prints-slightly incongruous. The hostess was young and uninterested. She sat us and told me she could take my coat, then left without it. Our server was new, but committed. She knew the menu and she was engaged. Our bottle of wine came ten minutes after the cheese plate-not o.k. The cheese was fair, and arranged with no care. The main courses were adequate. The menus were awful-on ipads."

  • "Food was very good. Haddock excellent, surf & turf very good (pan seared scallop portion was excellent), scallops with pasta very good, and seafood special very good. Only issue was time - seemed to take quite some time for dinner to be served. Other than that, excellent!"

  • "Returned to Pond House Grille again after several months. It is not always the first place I think of when dining with friends but it should be. We are never disappointed in the food and it seems they are working hard to develop the service and wait staff."

  • "i always enjoy the pond house but, there have been several times now, that the gluten free flat bread is not available. while i realize that an item cannot always be available, it appears that is item is often not in 'stock'. for the gf crowd, this is VERY DISAPPOINTING (since your gf pizza is the best)!!! also, having a gf option available while waiting to eat, ie in place of the BREAD that everyone else at the table gets, would be wonderful... (like at max fish). honestly, it makes the gf feel like they are dining and included, instead of watching the rest of their friends enjoying a pre -dinner nosh. please consider gf bread, crackers, popped corn, anything as an alternative. thanks! the food and service is always great!"

  • "Expensive and the food was not great. Very loud with 70's type decor. But I was able to get a last minute reservation on a Saturday night when everything else around was booked ..."

  • "We reserved a table for 6 @ 9pm. One of the couples in our party did not eat meat or seafood but the manager made sure to have chicken prepared for the couple. OUr waitress was very cheerful happy and friendly. We had a very nice experience."

  • "We will think twice about returning after our experience on 2/14. We routinely do not go out on Valentine's Day because of the rushed feeling. Our experience on 2/14 was no exception. The set menu caused us concern because of some food allegries so we called to make sure there were other options available. We were told sure it would be no problem there were other options available. Options (plural), which would mean a choice. That was not the case. We were not given an option but had to take the vegetarian option for two courses. I ordered my lamb chops medium, they came out well done. I returned them to the kitchen only to get rare lamp chops in return. Before we finished dessert the waitress brought us our coats. Not enjoyable."

  • "We went or Valentine's Day. There was a specific menu for dinner, no other menu options were available. It ended up being ok, but we were surprised as there wasn't any forewarning in regard to that dining experience. So it ended up being banquet style dining. The food was good, not great...but you get that in banquet style service at times. The server was as good as could be, she had quite a few tables to tend to. We may go back to try the regular menu as the restaurant was laid out well."

  • "We had reservations so we were seated promptly. Apparently the entire restaurant was being served a pre fixe menu which I was unaware of prior to arriving. Food was great so it worked out however would have the like the option to order from their regular menu. No mention of pre fixe on their website. Overall, great food. Service was ok, waited for our drinks for a while but once the waitress got to us she was pretty attentive"

  • "Delicious variety of brunch dishes were offered on their first Sunday of serving a buffet. Plus a brunch drink of your choice and one of the very good brunch ala carte dishes were also included. One note of advice, if you order one of the ala carte items either eat it before you go to the buffet or ask your server to wait until to are ready for it. That way everything you have will be nice and hot."

  • "A good but not great place. Very noise. Electronic tablet menu gave more info then most menu's but actually made it harder to decide."

  • "My husband loved the short ribs and I think the crab cake was well appreciated but the vegetarian tempeh was a definite miss. It was dry, cakey and bland. I even tried some cranberry jam but the flavor didn't work. The atmosphere was adequate but I preferred some of the other incarnations at that same location."

  • "Service was outstanding ! Waitress was always there for us, with no waiting. Food was the best I have had ANYWHERE ! The arugula flatbread and pork chop were incredibly delicious - but wait, the best was the mango sorbet - took me back to the islands and I wanted more even though I could not finish the one I had -- want to go back next weekend. Ambiance very welcoming. Had a nightcap at the bar and bartender was very friendly and helpful. Friends had braised short ribs which fell apart and they raved about ! Did not expect anything less since it's sister is Pond House Cafe in Hartford where I have attended functions and cannot wait to go back for a wedding coming up in June !"

  • "My friends and I went to this restaurant for New Year's Eve. It was excellent. The menu was set with A choice of salmon or beef. Every course was exceptional. The final course was a plate of chocolate treats. The portion size was perfect. This was one of the best New Year's dinners the four of us have had. The service was exceptional....very friendly and accommodating. Overall, it was exceptional."

  • "This dining experience was unique in that they had the computer tablet menus. They were easy to use and this was a glimpse into our ever-changing future. We were served Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The display of the oil and vinegar was very cool in that it was a swirl like the design of the pond house sign. My swordfish came a bit late so I was unable to eat with the others that I was with. This was a bit disappointing and the swordfish was overcooked, likely in their attempt to get it out quickly. Overall it was a good dining experience and I'll return again. The ending of the meal was also nice and that they offered in aromatherapy, steam display at our table. Very cool ending."

  • "We've been here on a number of occasions and have enjoyed it. But what was good is now even better with their new menu items. I highly recommend the stuffed acorn squash. Their portions tend to be large (including the small plates), but the good news is you now know exactly what you're ordering because they are now using iPad-like tablet menus that show photos of the actual dishes. Our waiter was extremely courteous and knowledgable. The only thing that struck us as odd is that there was no bread service, even though there were bread plates on the table. Just as we were about to enquire about that, our dinners arrived, so we didn't bother. We'll check that out on our next visit."

  • "I was last at this restaurant in 2012 and frankly was disappointed. This time It was like a different restaurant. The food was wonderful. The atmosphere was terrific Everyone in my party remarked about what a great dining/friend spot this was. Wine list had a good Number of choices. Our server was friendly and very accommodating. We will be sure to visit again soon."

  • "This dinner was a gathering of 6 friends, celebrating an important birthday for one of the guests. Five of the guests fully enjoyed their meals, which included the scallops with sticks, duck hash, and filet mignon, among other choices. One of our guests was very dissatisfied with the veal parmigiana he'd ordered. HIs concerns were well handled by the server and the manager, offering to do whatever was necessary to please him. We also had a gift certificate for 4 dinners, presented to our waitress before the order was taken. Our sever handled this in stride and we never had the sense that this presented a problem for the restaurant or the server, who was gracious throughout the dinner. I'll definitely be back!"

  • "This was our second visit to the Pond House Grille. The first time the food was mediocre. This time the food was very good. The prices are reasonable and there are plenty of menu selections. There are also plenty of vegetarian only dishes which is great for our daughters. And plenty of small plates for those looking for something less filling. The only negative was when my 80 year old mother in-law ordered a 'hot tottie'. The server had never heard of one. A few minutes later he arrived with a hot drink that was mostly hot water with a lemon wedge. Far from a hot tottie and he charged us $9. We will return to the Pond House mostly because of the vegetarian selections for our daughters. For me, it is the spaghetti and ginormous meatball."

  • "The menu was great. The food was very good with the exception that the app came out cold. We also came at a time when the restaurant was not busy and yet we were put at a cramped table in a corner close to other tables. There still were plenty of tables left when we were finished so it wasn't as if the rest of the available tables had reservations."

  • "Nice hip spot with cool atmosphere and fun food selections. While not 5 star dining, it was a very solid experience with a nice wine list and great cocktails selections. Service was very good and the liquid nitrogen aroma bath was a fun way to end the evening. See it for yourself ha ha."

  • "A great restaurant -- keeping true to form from you Hatford location. First, major kudos to the waitstaff. My spouse has to limit sodium intake, and the waitstaff was incredibly attentative to that need. Please alter your noise level rating -- it was far too loud . The volume really takes away from a really great dining experience."

  • "My wife and I couldn't have picked a better place and evening for a quiet intimate celebration. Not too many people were there because it was Halloween, so it was fairly quiet. The Halloween theme music was a little loud but fun to listen to; it did not interfere with our conversation. Food and wine were excellent as usual (although we can't take credit for being wine connoisseurs) and our waitress was extremely helpful without being ever present. This upscale casual place is our preference when we are looking for that extra classy evening."

  • "The Pond House Grille has a very nice atmosphere. The service was excellent. There were 4 of us in our group. The 2 main entrees we had were just so-so. The swordfish was overcooked and dry. The veal parmesan tasted closer to hamburger than veal. The other 2 meals were vegetarian. Both the GRILLED GREEN FLATBREAD and the GRILLED PORTOBELLO SANDWICH were excellent. The pear salad was also excellent. But because the main entrees we had were just so-so I gave the overall rating on the food just 3 stars. I would return the Pond House Grille but avoid the main entrees."

  • "This was my second time at Pond House Grille. The first time I was there it was fabulous. The menu was creative and the food was fantastic. But they've changed the menu. It's now a bit pedestrian and boring. While our food was good, I very much missed the creativity is experienced the first time."

  • "We have been to most restaurants in the Glastonbury area, and were disappointed with the Pond House Grille. Restaurant was attractive, but practically empty on a Sat night. Salads were average, but frankly worse than what I make at home. I had chicken, which was good, served with a warm fingerling potato salad. Sounded interesting, but it was bland and there was a huge serving of it. Did not care for it. My husband had a beef filet, which was mediocre, and did not compare favorably with what other Glastonbury restaurants serve."
