A word from Pomerol

Pomerol is a locally owned Fremont neighborhood restaurant serving the best northwest ingredients in a French preparation with a wood fired grill and sunny patio.

The restaurant is named Pomerol, not for the famous wines, but for the unique private family owned properties that are still operated as they were 100 years ago. The town is tiny, the restaurants are excellent and the craftsmanship of the local people is amazing. We hope to bring that same feel with food, wine, cocktails and service. A place that you can walk in and have some of the best meats cooked over a grill or have the most amazing fresh produce prepared in a simple beautiful presentation.

We thoroughly enjoyed Pomerol. There were six of us and we all were very impressed. We started with squid and foie gras and then each ordered a dish and shared. Nothing disappointed at all. Even our meat and potato friend thought the chicken was incredible! Also, I want to mention that the service from everyone was absolutely the best we have had in ages. They all seemed to be really happy doing their jobs without making us feel like a bunch of doofy people with questions about the menu. Christine was our server, with the perfect balance between making sure we were well tended without being pompous and overbearing. The bartender didn't just whip up a kamikaze, he reinvented it and glanced over to be sure we liked the results.

We decided to look for someplace new/different, and saw the positive reviews for Pomerol. Glad we did. Fun cocktail menu. Fairly new place (opened in July?), enjoyed our appetizers and entree's (foie gras, oysters, chicken, and steak) that were great and compare favorably to any of Seattle's best. Dessert was a little disappointing (roasted peaches & carrot cake). Great and friendly service, we'll definitely be back...

Try anything from the wood fired grill. It's a great, low key restaurant with nice servers.

We were so sorry when one of our favorite places, Portage, closed. But they opened a new place - Pomerol. This was our first time dining here. The restaurant is larger and it has a small back deck for outdoor dining when the weather is fine. The food is exquisite - even better than Portage if that is possible. We had a lovely meal which reminded us of our meals in Paris. We shared the Foie Gras for a first course, and I had the pork which was excellent, and C. had the Entrecôte de Boeuf which was also excellent. Wine list is very nice - more extensive than they had at Portage - with some lovely bottles.

We loved every dish we ordered. The octopus was expertly prepared and among the best I have had, with a tender texture and rich smokiness that was nicely balanced with the aioli. The atmosphere was lovely and I would highly recommend Pomerol.

We chose Pomerol Restaurant for our anniversary dinner because, even though the restaurant is new, the chef came with a good reputation. We enjoyed all the food and enjoyed the meats cooked (and sometimes smoked) on the wood fire. We had the undivided attention of the waitress since I think we were the only other patrons in the restaurant. We sat outside, which was also pleasant.

I've been to this restaurant 4 times now and it never disappoints. The food is fantastic. I highly recommend the short ribs. It's just awesome! The desserts were ok but all done very well. I'll be back for a 5th time in the near future.

We'd been waiting for Pomerol since Portage closed, and are thrilled to enjoy the chefs impeccable cooking and creativity in the kitchen again, but the noise level was painful. Part of Portage's charm was that it was quiet enough for a romantic dinner or the like. Even though I LOVE the food here it won't become a regular spot for us because it's too loud to really relax and enjoy the meal...

Excellent food and a great pace of service. Wine complements the menu. Far enough from the center of Fremont to feel like a hidden gem, but close enough to be connected.

We were pleasantly surprised by Pomerol. Incredible food, great cocktails tucked away just west of the main Drag. The pro belly, short ribs, tuna, and duck were highlights, as was the Octopus starter

  • Finding Foie Gras

Foie gras features prominently in several dishes. Would have loved to try them all, especially if they're all as delicious as the foie-gras-stuffed morels. Octopus, which can be chewy, wasn't. It was tender, succulent and well-flavored. My albacore was perfectly prepared, as was my husband's lamb. (The server didn't even ask how he wanted his lamb--they know how.) Cumin-vanilla ice cream was such an unexpected pairing that, even though I make my ice cream, we had to try it. Glad we did. We'll be back

We dined at Pomerol on opening night. (Usually not a great move). All was perfect. Tricia greeted us warmly, Chef Loc (formally trained in French technique - and it shows)was everywhere, presiding over the wood burning grill / oven. Rocky, the Mixologist, was right on top of things. Wood grilled octopus, foie gras, duck and chicken (for two of us ) all first rate and beautifully prepared and presented. Reasonable prices (given the Excellence of the food and service) Our new favorite French restaurant (with a Seattle twist ) Don't miss it
