Pomerol is a locally owned Fremont neighborhood restaurant serving the best northwest ingredients in a French preparation with a wood fired grill and sunny patio.

The restaurant is named Pomerol, not for the famous wines, but for the unique private family owned properties that are still operated as they were 100 years ago. The town is tiny, the restaurants are excellent and the craftsmanship of the local people is amazing. We hope to bring that same feel with food, wine, cocktails and service. A place that you can walk in and have some of the best meats cooked over a grill or have the most amazing fresh produce prepared in a simple beautiful presentation.Continued

  • "We chose Pomerol Restaurant for our anniversary dinner because, even though the restaurant is new, the chef came with a good reputation. We enjoyed all the food and enjoyed the meats cooked (and sometimes smoked) on the wood fire. We had the undivided attention of the waitress since I think we were the only other patrons in the restaurant. We sat outside, which was also pleasant."

Part of Portage's charm was that it was quiet enough for a romantic dinner or the like. Even though I LOVE the food here it won't become a regular spot for us because it's too loud to really relax and enjoy the meal..."

  • "Foie gras features prominently in several dishes. Would have loved to try them all, especially if they're all as delicious as the foie-gras-stuffed morels. Octopus, which can be chewy, wasn't. It was tender, succulent and well-flavored. My albacore was perfectly prepared, as was my husband's lamb. (The server didn't even ask how he wanted his lamb--they know how.) Cumin-vanilla ice cream was such an unexpected pairing that, even though I make my ice cream, we had to try it. Glad we did. We'll be back"

  • "We dined at Pomerol on opening night. (Usually not a great move). All was perfect. Tricia greeted us warmly, Chef Loc (formally trained in French technique - and it shows)was everywhere, presiding over the wood burning grill / oven. Rocky, the Mixologist, was right on top of things. Wood grilled octopus, foie gras, duck and chicken (for two of us ) all first rate and beautifully prepared and presented. Reasonable prices (given the Excellence of the food and service) Our new favorite French restaurant (with a Seattle twist ) Don't miss it"
