A word from Poco
Less is always more. Restaurateur Sara Grizzle (formerly of Redemption Grill and Essex) and Food Network’s award winning chef, Abe Lopez, have teamed up to create a bright new spot in Manhattan’s East Village with the best Tapas ever plus other small dishes. The menu offers a taste of everything and accommodates every food preference, meat eaters and vegans alike. Serving Tapas lets a group mix and mingle. With a great wine list, a good selection of tap and bottled beers, as well as some of the most interesting cocktails around (try the Ginger Mojito), Poco is the perfect spot for a quick drink and appetizer, dinner, or a place to wind down after a hectic day.
The food is original and fantastic (Mac & Cheese & Lobster) and as well as a good price performer appealing to budgets of any size.
Everyone at Poco looks forward to serving you. Sara, one of the owners, is usually there and stops by each table to meet our guests. See you when you arrive.

Diner Reviews
  • "great brunch option for a group who are looking for a fun boozy day"

  • "Flavorful and filling! You must try the steak lollypops and the lobster Mac and cheese. Amazeballs."

  • "Seems like a nice place - however if you choose to have brunch and not do the aycd-option - which seems fun! - then the a la carte menu is overpriced in my opinion. The food is good but not amazing, and the serves are not huge. Would possibly do again but not without drinks which is I guess where the value for money is in."

  • "We entered the restaurant at the end of the brunch shift. They no longer had one of the meals that were ordered. Our order was also not brought down to the kitchen and it took about 45 minutes to realize this. Another 10 minutes later, they told us the meal still wasn't brought down to the kitchen. Poco employees brought us a free appetizer and took 50% off the menu for these inconveniences which made the trip much better than how it began. Love the food here and would go back."

  • "This wasn't my first time at Poco but it took way too long to seat us, even with a reservation. People did not want to leave their tables, even after their 1.5 hours were up. It was pretty discouraging and annoying considering we were starving and had to wait an hour past our reservation time to be seated. Other than that the food is great and so are the drinks. Hopefully they work something out because one should not have to wait so long with a reservation to be seated and other customers should be more mindful. But Poco has a great atmosphere, good music, and it's fun to go for brunch. Their steak, egg, and cheese sandwich with an avocado spread is to die for. One of my fav on the menu."

  • "I had a surprise party here for my best friend. Morgan the coordinated was awesome. She helped me with everything I need and the price was very reasonable. They saved a section of the bar for us an the drinks were awesome. We were all having such a great time they kept the bar open later for us. The bartenders and managers were respectful and nice. Definately would plan another event!"

  • "Great music, good food, I would go there again but very early. I am unsure if there is a point in making reservations. I had to wait HALF AN HOUR after my reservation time, which makes NO SENSE. Reservations means, my table is reserved. Not wait until a table is open on the time of your reservation. I am giving it one more chance, will make an early reservation. However if the same thing happens again I am writing this place off and telling all my brunch friends. This is unfortunate because the waiting staff and food are great. But the organization of reservations and table control are not worth it if this is a staple of the place."

  • "But it def fell off big time from last year. Our server looked so miserable, like if you want to kill yourself, so it on your own time. She just looked so unhappy to be there, it just took away from my experience. Also the rest of my table got their food about 25 mins before me, who does that? Their food was cold and gross by the time my good came and she forgot about half the order, she didn't check on us at all, and the food was sub-par at best.. Everytime I get the lobster Benedict, this time there was ZERO Lobster, perhaps a crumb of two fell from another plate... If poco doesn't shape up, we will be switching places for our annual friends brunch next year."

  • "Good food, good drinks. Servers were very nice. Some people in my group were running late, so we had drinks at the bar. The bartender was attentive and helpful. The sat us when everyone got there with no complaints or problems. Food was pretty good, good selection and variety. Would definitely go back again! "

  • "Loved this Alphabet City Gem! Came here for happy hour on a Friday night - enjoyed $1 oysters and a $20 pitcher of red wine sangria - ABSOLUTELY delicious. Beautiful ambiance with red curtains, wood pieces and fairy lights. Our waiter was super attentive, friendly, and made us feel comfortable just getting sangria, no pressure at all to order off normal menu. The best happy hour deal, can't wait to try out their brunch!!"

  • "Good deal for brunch and the food was tasty. I had the Poco Benedict and my friend had the lobster Mac and cheese. Our server was great, but nearing (and not exceeding) our time limit we were rushed out of there. Two different people came in succession to tell us to 'finish up' when we hadn't even received our check yet and couldn't leave if we wanted to. Our server was apologetic when he finally came with the check, but the rush job at the end managed to sour my overall brunch experience."

  • "We have gone to this restaurant several times and I can't believe I have not left a review. Starting with the food.. It's amazing!! The tapas are simple yet full of flavor.. I must say the lobster Mac and cheese it's just perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant for every occasion. The only downfall is the deserts.. Not as good as compared to the food."

  • "Order the lobster mac and cheese it was amazing!!!! The only other food I got was sweat potato fries and those were delicious also. Our waiter was very nice ,and the drinks were great! Also I would highly recommend the blood orange mango mojito. This place had a great ambiance and good music.....I am planning on going back soon!"

  • "Place looks amazing, sangria was good, food was really good. Only downfall is that price didn't match the portion size. A tad pricey for the poco flood you receive.. Like the little portion concept but price needs to match. Other than that great place."

  • "Loved this place, we went to this place for out anniversary weekend and we had a blast. The lobster mac and cheese was everything they say it is. My gf had the steak and egg sandwich and she equally loved her meal. Best overall Bloody Mary I have ever had ( not to tomato and lots of spice). Want to go back ASAP"

  • "Had no expectations when we reserved our table for our casual double date on Valentines day, but the restaurant was great!! The food was delicious, happy hour until 8 w/ half price cocktails and a selection of tapas. Casual but with a great ambiance, friendly, efficient servers. Inexpensive meal and a great time."

  • "Eggs Benedict was half decent, but 'the cure' was basically chips and salsa with two eggs on top. We sat in the basement which felt like a college pad..smelled musty with a hint of bathroom cleaning products. Definitely better options in the area."

  • "food is great (if you are picking between the drinks). it get too busy, they should hire one more person to wait"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by the great food here. It was amazing. It's a bit right in there but if you can get over that you will enjoy a great meal."

  • "Food was great (I had the french toast and we shared lobster mac and cheese), sangria was a little warm because I guess we were there early and it had just been made. The scene is great -- loud and fun, but we felt that our waiter was trying to get us out asap"

  • "What a great little spot. The food is great and more than reasonably priced. The drinks are equally worthwhile and the staff were some of the best ever. Will be sure to stop in any time I'm in New York."

  • "So happy to have discovered Poco a few months ago. They've got the best small plates in the East Village! The fried asparagus, mushroom croquettes, octopus and the lobster mac & cheese are all to die for. They also have the most amazing "house special" sangria made with St. Germain and blood orange. Do NOT pass this up. The food and service is both exceptional. A fun place to go with a group of friends or just as a couple. It's got a lively atmosphere and they've got a dj on the weekends. I highly recommend making reservations if you are going on the weekend as it tends to get crowded by 8 pm."

  • "I was staying a block away and found this place on googlemaps. I came for the all you can drink brunch. It was fabulous. I got there right when they opened and sat at the bar by myself. It got busy fast, so I would suggest making a reservation. The bartender was amazing. Great recommendations. The steak sandwich was delicious. But the endless mimosas were what made this place AMAZING. You can have your choice of mimosa, bloody mary, or red or white sangria."

  • "Have to say, although we had to wait nearly an hour (WITH a reservation) when we finally sat we had amazing service (thanks, Ashley!!) and the food was excellent!! I know sliders seem like bar food, but they do something special here....get them!! You won't be disappointed!! There are a few mac and cheese options- we got a truffle mushroom one which was so good!! All in all, the food and service were excellent, and it has a great ambiance. It just gets a bit crowded and they need to do a better job of managing their reservations.....but I would go again and highly recommend it!!"

  • "I went to Poco for a friends birthday, who actually bartends here. The food is a tapas menu, and we ordered the butternut squash salad which my husband said was excellent, the skirt steak with chimicurri sauce was amazing. Very tasteful foods. I would definitely come back and try more food on the menu. The service was slow, which was a negative because it is a small place, but was very busy. But the taste of the food was so good, it made me forget how long I waited for it."

  • "I took my mom for her Bday dinner, the portions were pretty decent for tapas, everything was DELICIOUS! the mac n'cheese was so rich and creamy, the sliders were juicy and the Sangria was great. Id recommend this for a date night, a dinner with friends or small group"
    Dined on 10/22/2013
  • "Super friendly service complemented above average fare. Comfortable seating and low key/ casual vibe helped welcome a group of five (including a couple of upstaters), along with delicious "signature" cocktails (the blood orange mojito was a smash). Tapas always fun for small groups and most of Poco's offerings were a cut above."

  • "It has been about two years since I have been to Poco. I moved neighborhoods but made it back for dinner on a Friday night. We made reservations and were seated right away. It took the waitress a few minutes to get around to us. Wait time was a bit long for the amount of people in the restaurant but really only a few minutes. Food was still good. Lobster mac and cheese, bacon wrapped dates and poco sliders are always good. The food came out quickly and was fresh. Happy hour lasts until 8 and so we were able to get cocktails and wine for 1/2 off and some of the tapas for 1/2 off as well. Overall, it was a delicious dinner and pleasant experience."
