Plume at the Jefferson HotelPampered at PlumeFor traditional, formal table service and a high-end menu (that is still approachable), going to Plume was a memorable experience. The restaurant has a few dining room areas. We were seated in the delicately soft light-filled atrium and it was gorgeous. We were there for a special occasion (birthday) and it was completely worth every cent. Plume offered two options: a 3-course fixed price menu or a tasting menu; we opted for the former. From beginning to end, the dining experience was perfection. All of this comes with a price, of course. This is not the sort of restaurant you might frequent regularly, unless you are wealthy. Certainly, it is a great spot to save up for something special. We are glad we did!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best dining experiencesOne of the best dining experiences in my memory. Impeccable service, wonderful food, and sublime ambience. My wife and I dined on my birthday. We had the tasting menu with premium wine experience. The meal started with a half-bottle of NV Krug Champagne and concluded with Chateau D'Yquem (the sommelier topped off both our glasses with more D'Yquem, by the way). Unhurried, unmechanical, elegant, gorgeous. Ask for Table 10. It's called the "Bookery" for its backdrop of library books. The table is lit by a historic chandelier from the hotel, circa 1840. We didn't want to leave! It's not inexpensive, but worth every penny, IMHO. Highly recommended.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn exceptional experienceAn exceptional experience from beginning to final expresso. The service could not have been better -- we felt welcome but not overhwelmed. The food was exceptional -- both the lobster thermidor and lamb were marvelous.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect ambiance: beautifullyPerfect ambiance: beautifully furnished, lots of space between tables, good lighting, sedate. Service was excellent but not overhovering. Food was excellent. The prix fixe dinner included course after course. When it was over, you did not feel that you had been overcharged.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance was lovely andThe ambiance was lovely and the service was excellent. The food was nicely presented and some of the dishes were very good, while others were good but nothing outstanding or remarkable. Just for a note to the chef. Desserts too sweet and too many things going on. Cheese place would have been better with not sweet bread and thin crackers or dry french.
We had a pleasant time but food was not good enough to go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing DinnerThe best meal I have ever eaten. It was the chef's tasting with wine pairings. An orchestra of flavored masterfully conducted, each course building on the last. Amazing is all I can say.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect special event dinnerWhat a perfect restaurant for a special occasion (think anniversary, birthday)! The room is lovely (steel grey walls, white chairs, beautiful candles, curtains) and the noise level is perfect for important conversations without a lot of distractions. The restaurant has plenty of attentive staff to help make your meal a success. The food was absolutely delicious and after some disappointing meals in other "must go" DC metro area restaurants, we were surprised, delighted and still talking to our friends about our experience at Plume. Would HIGHLY recommend Plume.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI travel on business a lotI travel on business a lot and dine out practically all the time. I have eaten in many a fine restaurant but I will have to say that Plume is the finest establishment I have ever had the honor to go to. The food was superb. The service impeccable. The atmosphere was elegant. Men: wear a jacket atleast - most of the men there will be in a suit and tie.
This place is a treasure a truly exceptional dining spot in the nation's capital.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe stayed at the JeffersonWe stayed at the Jefferson and had a fantastic dinner our second night at the hotel. The service was absolutely outstanding. Really, incredibly attentive, fantastic recommendations, etc. My husband "won" between two great selections we ordered. He had the Dover Sole and it literally melted in your mouth. Certainly not a dining experience most would ask for often - really a treat.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGrand experienceGreat food and service in the grand dining tradition.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe stayed at the JeffersonWe stayed at the Jefferson Hotel for 5 nights while visiting the sights of Washington. Dinner at Plume capped off our trip with our son. After nearly a week of sightseeing and walking, walking, walking the city, it was delightful to simply go downstairs for a dinner that was elegant, delicious, and beautifully presented. A wonderful celebration to end our stay in Washington.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great dinner with friendsHad a great dinner with friends with wonderful service from Paul and his colleagues.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a great meal there,I had a great meal there, but I was especially impressed with the wine service at Plume. Sommelier Michael Scaffidi was so knowledgeable and attentive that he gave me such a wonderful experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Experience! We went for our Anniversary this past Saturday night. We were seated in a beautiful private round booth. The food was amazing and the wine list is incredible. Our new favorite place to dine for a special occasion!! Loved it3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional and memorableExceptional and memorable experience. The cuisine was outstanding, the wine pairing was right on and the service couldn't have been better, our french speaking server (sorry I forgot your name) was professional and friendly. Well done Plume.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food , service and ambianceThe food , service and ambiance were top notch even for this New Yorker who often seeks out fine dining. The table were spaced with breathing room and the lighting was cosy and romantic. We came back the next night for a drink at the bar just to relax in the decor.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA magnificent venue for aA magnificent venue for a romantic anniversary! The waitstaff was observant, but not intrusive, the cozy ambiance was intimate (but not smothering), the warmth of the restauarnt setting made you forget it was winter outside, and the food was incredibly well-crafted and done to perfection. The decor of the restaurant was comparable to a British palace or a French chateau (many flourishes tip their hat to Thomas Jefferson, the namesake of the hotel in which the restaurant is located). This was the best dining experience I have ever had in Washington DC and have recommended this restaurant to my friends and family. While it isn't cheap, we found the experience to be well worth the costs and have memories that will endure forever.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSo far the best dinner I hadSo far the best dinner I had at Plume. Exceptional foil gras, beautiful presentation, unobtrusive service. Great wine list with an extraordinary selection of half bottles which rivals the one of the Inn at Little Washington. Not to be missed.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
