  • "Plaza III has been around Kansas City for a long time, and is still one of the very best steak houses in town! The Prime Rib was delicious and prepared as requested, medium rare. The wine list is excellent also and you will not leave here hungry. The wait staff is very knowledgable and helpful. I have been here many times and this time I took one of my granddaughters and she enjoyed the dinner very much also."

  • "Despite living in a neighboring community this was my first trip to Plaza III. What a great steak! One of best I have ever had in KC."

  • "Only went because I had a groupon. What I didn't notice was that it was only for dinner but we went for lunch. They were good to us and honored it for what I paid for it $30, not the $60 if it was dinner time. The staff was great and we waited for nothing. The food..... it was just ok. The wife's steak had to be sent back, it was perfect the second time. I had shrimp fettuccini which I wouldn't t order again, it was very bland. Probably wouldn't go back, the place wasn't bad just wasn't as good as the prices say it should have been."

  • "This place knows exactly how to cook some steaks. Tina, our waitress, was amazing and recommended we try the grilled asparagus as opposed to the steamed. Excellent choice! I had the regular cut Prime Rib (a thick cut and now I'm wondering how thick the thick cut actually is...my goodness!), my wife had the Tenderloin Oscar. All delicious! This place is great for romantic dinners and perfect for getting out the house from the kids to spend some time together. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

  • "Plaza III delivers on great prime rib and steaks...with delicious sides and wonderful warm bread. Great service, too."

  • "Air conditioner was blowing on us all night-we asked twice to turn off blower but it never happened. The steaks were tough-nothing exceptional for the money we paid. The waiter was awesome! He was very attentive and friendly. We arrived 6 minutes before the reservation and the host was rude and said, “we will seat you closer to your reservation time.” We thought of many other ways he could say, “we’ll be with you in just a few minutes.” also, we had a birthday and that wasn’t mentioned by the server."

  • "best steaks in town! David gave us great service. Ask for him on your next visit."

  • "The ambience is lacking, the beer selection is poor, but the steaks are always delicious."

  • "Still a wonderful restaurant with excellent steaks, service and ambiance."

  • "I ordered the KC Strip steak and it was very fatty, and did not have a good texture. It was lightly seasoned, which was good. I ended up sending it back and getting the salmon instead, and the salmon was excellent. The ambience was very nice, we loved the music downstairs. I thought the food was overpriced for the quality. I have had much better quality for less."

  • "Took my wife to the Plaza III to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I couldn't have made a better choice. Excellent menu, with good recommendations from the server. Our server do a very good job all around. The Filet and Prime Rib were also outstanding and well worth the money. Great experience, great meal, great restaurant in my opinion."

  • "I can find a better steak for less than 1/2 the price. The dinning room is badly in need of updating. Too much $ just to say you ate on the Plaza."

  • "In order to accommodate my husband's disability, we were sat in a large booth for 6. There was some communication issues as to who our server was supposed to be, so it took a while to get drinks. That said, the rest of the night was wonderful. The food and wine were delicious, and they even comped us Grand Marnier souffle. Emily, our waitress, knew just when to approach and we had a lovely romantic evening - something my husband and I really needed!"

  • "Our early evening reservations meant that the restaurant was relatively quiet and our server made sure that we were taken care of before two very large parties were seated and served. Dishes were good although we should have had the steak cooked a bit more as it was not a warm center for the medium cook. The cheddar potatoes and key lime pie were very good. We will go back for another special occasion although we heard Plaza III has a great (and affordable) lunch."

  • "We took our elderly parents to dinner for their 65th wedding anniversary. We arrived around 5:15 and restaurant was extremely quiet. Service was prompt, efficient and very friendly. Salads are large enough for 2! Steaks are always great here. Sides are large enough to share family style. Would love to see the décor updated!!"

  • "My husband has eaten many steaks at many restaurants, and said the Porterhouse here was one of the best. My strip steak was delicious too. We had salads, a side apiece (took over 1/2 home), and dessert (soufflé was great). Since everything is bought separately and in large portions, similar to other expensive steak chains that are no longer in Kansas City, the meals are expensive but we think worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Friday night -we ordered the date night special-4-shrimp appetizer-salad-filet and dessert-all for $60.00 total. The app. was ok- salad lettuce was chilled but nothing special. My wife's steak was great- my steak so-so and dessert was a chocolate creation-good. If we would have paid full price of approximately $75.00 each or more this would have been a poor meal. We probably will not go back. We did order a bottle of wine-reasonably price and no pressure to upgrade the choice. Our server was very professional."

  • "Very good food! Everything is ala cart. The steak soup was incredible and the steak was perfect. Next time I'd skip the baked potato as it wasn't all that fabulous. The service was really nice and it was really quiet where we were sitting."

  • "We had dinner with two other friends and are honestly shocked that this place is still open. Food was horrible and very expensive. If you're going to drop $100/person on dinner, there are so many other places in KC to do it and actually get a good meal. The restaurant was dead on a Friday night so I'm not even sure how they're still in business. Don't go to Plaza III for any reason. Most overpriced Applebee's-quality meal in the city."

  • "We had some out of town guests looking for a good steak. Plaza III did not let us down. From the appetizers to the creme brûlée the food was excellent. The atmosphere was elegant but not stuffy. Our wait staff was attentive. I did find the spiel about the cuts of meat offered to be a bit scripty but the concept was good. My one downer was that we brought an exceptional bottle of wine to accompany the steaks. Most restaurants have a corking fee to accommodate clients who know what wines they like, Plaza III does not allow it however."

  • "Food was good, steak of course. Large sides more than enough to share with the table. Great wine list. Decor was dated and needed an update. Was told the womens bathroom needed cleaning and replenishment of supplies. All in all an okay experience."

  • "Overall, I would give the Plaza III Steakhouse 4/5 stars. There were only 3 complaints that accompanied a rather enjoyable visit. Service: our waiter was absolutely spectacular. Only problem was the person who sat us down. He didn't show up to the waiting area for a good 5 minutes while people piled up behind us. Food: the appetizers that came without asking were a few vegetables, & sourdough bread. The bread was wonderful, but the vegetables were not particularly fresh. I had a KC Strip...& it was well worth the $41. Dessert was splendid as well & came very quickly. However, the knife I had to cut my steak was very dull & not even a steak knife. I have to say, I've been given a better knife at Longhorn Steakhouse...as sad as that is."

  • "We went to Plaza III 23 years ago when we first started dating and have been back a few times since for special occasions. They remain consistant in the quality of food and service. Always a wonderful experience."

  • "We've had better steaks for half the price a number of places. The fillet was good, not great. But what really spoiled it was the bone dry prime rib. I ordered medium rare and it came medium well. I know the waiter understood me because he said "warm red center" and I replied yes. The fillet was cooked properly, medium rare. I would have sent it back, but I don't like to make the rest of my dinner party wait for a second plate to arrive. I took a few bites and my wife gave me half her fillet. The prime rib went home to be salad toppings. Very sad."

  • "Very friendly staff. Nice to have dinner at a local restaurant -- versus steak chains. Great food. I ordered the Lamb Chops and they were cooked to absolute PERFECTION! Business associate raved about his KC Strip steak. I will be back!"

  • "The food was AMAZING!!!! The service was great!! Every single item we purchased was over the top good. We had the filet and it was fantastic! The jumbo shrimp was the best we had ever had. I would go back just for the chocolate soufflé!!!!"

  • "Took my wife here to celebrate an anniversary. We were seated immediately, and well taken care of by the wait staff. My water glass was never empty. We ordered a T-bone steak, a filet mignon, white cheddar potatoes and fresh asparagus. The food was all great. Our steaks were delicious and cooked to our order. With all that said, this is a special occasion place for us as it is expensive. Great place, great food."

  • "Had the Sunday evening "special". Unimpressive thin cut prime rib. Good service but steak was poor. Pricey place good for corporate buyer dinners only!"

  • "Very disappointing! I had to saw my Tenderloin Oscar like a lumberjack to get through the very tough steak. Shrimp was overcooked, rubbery and tough. Salad was soggy lettuce, gritty, unripe tomato, tasteless cheese and FAKE bacon bits. Chocolate cake was clearly a frozen service industry product that wasn't even thawed through. Server never refilled our glasses from our bottle of wine and didn't clear crumbs before desert. This is not the upscale restaurant that it used to be, yet they still have the nerve to charge upscale prices. It is a shame that Plaza III has clearly given up. I prefer to support local restaurants, but unless some big changes happen, my money will go to Capital Grille"

  • "Was going in with high expectations because of several recommendations. Welcome wasn't friendly and overall the staff was not real friendly compared to other high-end steakhouses I have been to. After being seated, it took too long to get served and our waitress had no clue about wine and was not very attentive. The tables were provided an arrangement of dipping veggies in a weird ice bucket. The veggies were not fresh and had browning at the ends from sitting around for a while. The entrées didn't include sides and the side choices were ridiculously priced. The steaks were overcooked and burned. I can go on and on... but you get my point. High priced place without the service or food to go with it. Disappointed..."

  • "i live in KC and am a beef snob, and should be. I am in the cattle industry and know that procuring and serving good beef isn't the hardest thing in the world. I also know that sometimes you just get a poor steak. But, this is the third time I've been to Plaza III in the last two years and i've been disappointed each time. The problem is you should have high expectations for "KC's most popular and best steakhouse" and falling short was an understatement. I won't be going back for some time as there are dozens of other restaurants that get it right time and time again. Manager never stopped by to check on us at all and three of them were walking around."

  • "This restaurant has seen better days. The staff was slow and inexperienced. I ordered vodka rocks with lots of olives. The bartender filled a brandy snifter full of ice with a shot of vodka and placed two lame olives on top. We waited 15 minutes before the waitress made it to our table. The food was okay but light on flavor and presentation. I will never go back."
