Good restaurant if you like
Mexican food with a Korean twist. Fun atmosphere and reasonable prices."

Great food, quick service. Try the
octopus taco. Go on an empty stomach and get one of everything!"

I love that this little Mexican
restaurant has embraced the neighbourhood that it's in and welcomed a Korean influence into its menu. What a fantastic concept. The service was incredible. Really felt like our server genuinely cared about us and our meal. Great mojitos and pork bulgogi tacos."

Great flavour combinations and a
wonderful staff. Can order as individual meals or choose dishes (ie: tacos) as samplers for a group. Although not for those seeking a quiet night out, I would highly recommend a visit. Did I say sangria? Although small groups of two can likely get in, I'd book ahead."

Only thing didn't like was that
the waiter touched me five times on the shoulder. I didn't like that. He also asked me where I lived, which I didn't really want to share with him. The food was great."
Dined on 8/10/2014
Friendly service, really personal
and efficient. Atmosphere reminiscent of all playa cabana restaurants. Kmex slaw is good. Fave taco is the beef because the meat is done in an amazing Korean BBQ style. Chorizo Verde and Spicy Carnita also really good. Not the biggest fan of the chicken one. Don't miss the tres leches dessert. Menu on chalkboard... Easy to read and environmentally friendly. Menus posted all around so easy to see no matter where you are. Love this place, will go back."

I've been to this restaurant three
times and it is always good. The guacamole is sometimes not as good as others, but on this visit was packed with avocado. On a previous visit it had a bit too much onion. I highly recommend the shrimp taco."
Dined on 8/8/2014
The only thing I would go back for
is the KFC bibimbap. Everything else was just okay - nothing special. Although the drinks weren't watered down, they kinda tasted the same. We ordered 3 different drinks and didn't notice much difference! I would just stick with the original Playa Cabana at Dupont - can't go wrong there."
Dined on 8/1/2014
The food was good - I was just
expecting to get wowed.. Which only the bill managed to do. Service was excellent - except hostess who gave us the crappiest / crampest table in an almost empty restaurant. Our server graciously moved us - but I saw her seat 3 other couples in the same place ( they all were moved as well). Good margueritta as - but over priced. A bit of a disappointment."

Our waitress was excellent and
took the time to go through the entire menu. She brought me a free dessert after she had recommended one forgetting about my gluten allergy and it was so noisy that I couldn't hear her describe that it was a flour-based cake. That being said, there are a lot of options for anyone who can't have gluten. I would recommend being familiar with the online menu because they don't hand them out and your table, like ours, may be in a bad spot to see the large chalkboard one. Non-stop nachos, lemonade and chorizo/chicken/Baja tacos were amazing!"

You ask yourself how could Mexican
and Korean food co-exist? This place nailed it! The decor is very imaginative and sets a great tone. Nicely done cocktail menu. Menu is designed for sharing, and our party of 6 shared tacos, fried chicken, pork ribs, a cowboy steak sliced up to share, and a yummy slice of tres leches cake (w 6 forks). The music and noisy crowd made it feel very hip New York, and the tastes were a mix of Mexican spice and Korean sweetness which came together in all the right ways. Service was exemplary. Attentive, personable and engaging. It so happens the owner, Dave, was onsite, and added to the fun by joining us with some tequila shots. The night though, belonged to our server Kate, who made it so much fun!"

Quality of cooking stood out at
Barrio Coreano and it had to stand pretty high to rise above the margheritas, the over-flowing tacos, and quality appetizers. The lamb rib and fried chicken app's were cooked very nicely. We had 4 tacos and all were very good. We had the cowboy fajitas - ok, not great. Meat cooked inconsistently, a lot too rare, although good flavour. Veggies nothing special. Impressive when it arrives. I am not a corn tortilla super-expert but they seemed good to me."

I was on vacation in Toronto and I
was looking for a good Mexican restaurant to initiate my husband. The service was amazing, as soon as we arrived the staff was friendly and smiling. The server, she took the time to explain the menu in detail and explain the way it worked. The food was just spicy enough and the selection of tacos are modern. My husband loved the fish taco, but all the tacos we ate we good. Also, if we wouln't have tried this place, we wouldn't have had the chance to discover the great neighbourhood. I absolutly recommand this restaurant for any occasion."

I had been wanting to try this
restaurant for months and was not disappointed in the least!! Our server was funny, helpful and attentive. The food was actually outstanding - the homemade guac was unreal, as was the grilled calamari and the ceviche. Between the my three co-diners and I, we ordered every taco on the menu (favs were the tempura shrimp and beef, mmmmmm). And the drinks were boozy and refreshing! I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will definitely be back!"

In tacos alone they had more
choices I wanted to try than I was able to eat in one sitting. I'mm looking forward ot going back there and having more."

Great food. Great service. Great
environment. Great time."

Playa have done it again! This is
a hidden spot in Korean town. You could walk/drive past this place in a heartbeat - but trust me - it's worth being extra diligent to find it! Food was AMAZING - great price point and absolutely delicious. If I could, I would have ordered one of everything! Great ambience - felt like I was tucked away in Playa Del Carmen for a night - and staff was absolutely great! I cannot say enough about this particular location. Playa's other locations SHOULD TAKE SOME NOTES from these guys - especially in terms of the staff. You will not find me writing this review for any of the other three locations - but this one - worth the time!"

Love this place. I live in the
neighbourhood and have visited this restaurant several times. The food is always fresh and perfectly cooked. We have tried every taco on the menu and all are great. Personal favourites are the giant shrimp (with a gorgeous tempura batter) and the kabo beef. Great decor and a casual vibe. We will definitely be back."

Just be aware, it's really warm
(no apparent AC), it's spatially very tight and crowded (wait-staff kept bumping into each other) and has really loud music. So just dress appropriately during the summer months and GO TRY their FISH TACOs!!"

My cousin introduced me to this
location a few months ago, it really left a great impression for me. I decided to come back with coworkers and I must add we are super picky eaters. Barrio exceeded our taste buds and once again left us all super happy and looking forward to a return. I really enjoyed the tacos, my top 2 are the chorizo verde and fried quest chihuahua!"

The place was buzzing, energetic
and greatly designed. The service was mostly attentive, energetic and enthusiastic and despite being a popular, busy spot there was no attitude or pretentiousness. No hipster malaise thankfully. The food was very interesting in terms of fusion mash-ups and the ingredients seemed very fresh and high quality. Despite this the flavors were too complex and overpowering - it's almost like they needed to tone down some of the fusion-ness and keep things more delicate. I Would I go back? Maybe for drinks and some apps, probably not for a full out dinner."

6 of us went for dinner on Friday
night...it's now Tuesday and people are STILL talking about how great it was. The food was AHmazing!"

I celebrated my birthday here with
3 of my girlfriends and we had a great time! Great food, service was great, the place was energetic and felt it was a very relaxed ambiance. Definitely would come back!"

Our waiter was friendly, very
knowledgeable with the food and the menu."

We came as a group for Father's
Day and enjoyed an assortment of tacos. The best were the Kalbi beef and Chicken. Cool decor and good cocktails (agave agave!). Tacos were not as good as Grand Electric, but definitely worth trying. Next time I would also try their appetizers which included lobster tostadas and octopus! Service was a little manic but polite."
Dined on 6/15/2014
Great food. Service was good.
Seating is a little tight - the server accidentally knocked down the condiments at our table twice and got sauces on our feet/legs."
Dined on 6/14/2014
The ambience was great and the
food was good overall but the lack of menu made it hard to figure out what I was ordering (since I don't speak Spanish). Both tacos I ordered ended up having extremely spicy ingredients in them (which I had no idea since the item listed on their wall blackboard menu didn't have any description). Lovely set up and the waiter was extremely friendly."
Dined on 6/13/2014
I went with a group of 6 people,
one of whom had been there on many occasions and recommended it. The combination of heavy-handed burn-your-tongue spice and the plates arriving at our table lukewarm and in no particular order (e.g. Two orders of porto fajitas served 10 min apart) was unpleasant. Flavours were very good and we enjoyed most dishes. But service was very slow (we know it was busy) and to add insult to injury there was a mandatory 18% gratuity for the group. "

Went here with my husband and
parents for my birthday and had a great time. The food was delicious, spicy and flavourful. Tried an assortment of tacos (chorizo sausage was my fav) and got the flour less chocolate cake for dessert. Would return again."

A great place mexican place in
Koreatown area. Easy to find and accessible to subway. Food was amazing as well refreshing cocktails. Reasonably priced. I love the vibe inside as well. Re-purposed old Spanish door by the bar, grilled gates which is a must in South America.. I really feel it."
Dined on 5/26/2014
The food was amazing - exactly
what we hoped for. Service was fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly, quick - Everything. I'm sure some butthurt folk will claim this place is over-rated. But I was thoroughly pleased. It's definitely the kind of place I'll take friends from out of town."

Loved the ease with which we were
able to book a table for a group of five via Open Table at our desired time and was impressed with the service. Our sever was fantastic, dynamic and so passionate about the menu that we couldn't help but try nearly everything she recommended. The tacos are delish and my fave was the fish - must try the chicken and Kolbe beef next time, along with the grilled calamari which appeared to be a popular choice at other tables. Don't skip dessert - the deep-fried ice cream is a must-try (suggest adding cardamom or nutmeg... or something in the batter) but was very impressed with the chocolate (flourless) cake with green tea ice cream. That may sound boring but tasted divine."

Really enjoyed this place. Variety
of specialty tacos. Had the Chorizo, Chicken, Shrimp, Queso. Fresh Guac qith authentic Mexican chips. Really enjoyed it. Server (Irish girl) was very thorough explaining the menu and very attentive. Would go back anytime!"
Dined on 5/15/2014
I found this to be a fun, lively
restaurant with delicious food and cocktails. The taco shells tended to fall apart right away and eating was messy, but they were very flavourful nonetheless. The service was a tad lacking (i.e. not attentive) and a bit standoffish but I think the servers may have just been overwhelmed by how busy the place is. My server did notice whenever my drink level was low, which I appreciated."

Another hit with the Playa group.
Cabana Barrio is a great place to try new things with a nice fusion mix of Korean and Mexican. Their Tacos are out of this world and guacamole was better than mine. as it was our first time their we relied on our server Shawna to do the recommendations. She was bang on with everything and her service was great. Can't wait to go back"
Dined on 5/14/2014
I've been to Playa Cabana and
loved it, so I thought I'd give Barrio a try. It was definitely worth going there. The tacos, the food itself, it was amazing. The atmosphere and people working there made our experience even better. "
Dined on 5/11/2014
Not sure we enjoyed the
mexican/korean fusion. We expected it to be more like the Playa Cabana menu. Very young crowd 20 - 30, and exceptionally noisy."
Dined on 5/10/2014
I have been here several times and
am always delighted with the service. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and just a pleasure to engage with. Food is amazing as well!"

I recently took some friends to
Barrio Correano for dinner and everyone was really impressed by the food, drinks and ambience! Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed sharing a few dishes and trying the ceviche of the day. The deep fried ice cream and tres leches were to die for!"
Dined on 5/8/2014
Although I didn't order much of
the Korean fusion food that Barrio Coreano prides itself on (save for the kalbi taco), I had a great time. For a Tuesday night, the restaurant was fairly full and bustling. Food was great and our server was awesome. I will undoubtedly come back for more tacos."
