  • "I had a great time at the restaurant, great food (fish taco and chorizo taco are delicious) and drinks. The restaurant is very accommodating. That being said, however they have a two hour dinning time which they did not tell me when I booked. I booked this place because I thought we could eat and drink at the same place all night, however after 2 hours they told us we had past our booking time and the next reservation was waiting."

  • "The tacos and drinks were truly fantastic! Loved the hint of korean flavours on top of Mexican tacos. However, our waitress was quite slow and ignored our table for the majority of the evening. Once we ordered food (took an hour after sitting down) the food came quickly. I will definitely be back for the food!"

  • "Had a great time. Was actually my second time there. Service was a little slower but understandable since it was peak dinner time. Will definitely go back."

  • "Had an incredible experience overall, the food was delicious, the drinks were incredible, everything had a distinct flavor and character...the service was great, but I suppose because it was Saturday night the servers were busy, we ended up having to wait for our table for about 40 minutes even though we had a reservation, but the staff were so lovely they gave us our drinks on the house, and really did everything they could to make up for the wait. The wait was WELL WORTH IT! So...if you are lucky to get a reservation, be patient, enjoy the amazing atmosphere, take a few photos, order a delicious fancy drink, and enjoy the moments leading up to the most delicious meal of your week! I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Had amazing food with great character. Also liked that it was a Mexican restaurant but included a Korean flare due to its location in Korea town."

  • "If you want a quiet place to mingle with friends, this isn't the place for you. I loved the neon signs and energy that we experienced at this restaurant. Not to mention the fabulous food that we inhaled only to too it off with some of the finest tequila in town. A true must try experience. Two thumbs up!"

  • "I made a reservation for a party of 9 to surprise my partner for his b-day. My experience was largely positive; great food, interesting drink menu, and vibrant decor. Depending on your group, this place might not be the ideal scene for conversation as the music is loud and lights constantly flashing...for me it was a sensory overload. The only complaint I had was of our server. I don't mean to say that the service in general was poor as I noticed the other staff were very amicable, I think that our server in particular left much to be desired in comparison to the rest of the staff. My feeling is that, because we were a large party and she got an auto-grat of 18%, she didn't try to make any sort of conversation or attempt at politeness."

  • "Love everything about this restaurant our server was awesome!!!"

  • "Loved the fusion of Korean and Mexican Flavours. The fresh, hand-made guac and fresh corn chips were a great way to start- the Mexican woman pumping it out all night was a gem. The lamb was to die for, my favourite. A bit loud for a one-on-one. Best for a lively group get together. The Irish server was a sweet heart and a fun contrast to the Korean and Mexican eats and drinks."

  • "Great food. Excellent guacamole and flourless chocolate cake with green tea gelato! A bit like eating in a nightclub. My voice got hoarse trying to talk over the music to my friend across the table. Note to epileptics-don't sit by the blinking star! I felt like I might have a seizure!"

  • "The atmosphere was very fun, bright and lively. The front more than the back (I was in the back). The food was good. I had an issue with a soggy taco and staff were quick and gracious to deal with it. While the food was good and innovative, there were the green Korean peppers on a lot of things and they are just too spicy. I also found the guacamole too spicy. My nose was running throughout the entire meal. While I did enjoy myself, I found myself packed in, the chair was tiny and uncomfortable and no where to put my winter coat. Being uncomfortable is probably the biggest negative for me. Menus should be provided, when busy, it is too long for the server to explain most things and awkward/busy to get up and read the chalkboards."

  • "I went with a group of girlfriends on a Saturday night. The place got quite busy by the time we left at 7:30. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was so fresh and tasty. Must have the guacamole as well as any of the tacos. Margaritas were perfectly made, and they have a nice selection of Mexican beers. I would highly recommend this place and it has become my new neighbourhood hangout."

  • "The menus are written in chalkboards however they are not easily visible by all. My group took pics of the menu so we didn't have to keep getting up to look at it. I believe the menu is pretty standard but a very simple paper copy would have been much appreciated. Other than that the service was good and good was tasty."

  • "Great food, even better service, more than decent bar selection. Calamari is best in the city and must try the shrimp, duck mole and fried lobster. Only regret is that they are not open for lunch"

  • "Some of the best tacos I've ever had! Lots of kimchi and sesame and other Korean flavours which was terrific. There was even an unusual kimchi flavoured drink on the menu as well which our server recommended. We decided to be adventurous and try it and it was fantastic. The atmosphere is energetic and fun, lots of salsa music and colourful lights. Overall food was excellent and like nothing I've ever tried before, service was great, venue was fun and trendy... I highly recommend it!"

  • "I didn't fully enjoy my experience, mostly due to the setting of the restaurant which was a little crowded. The food presentation was lacking as well and one of our dishes was taken back because it was drenched in sauce that overpowered the chicken. Overall a better place for drinks and to be rambunctious with the guys."

  • "The food was wonderful! The only thing that I missed was the pitcher of margaritas that are available at Playa Cabana. The price of the food is more so I would suggest that you bring out the pitchers to compensate. Will be back again soon!"

  • "Girls night out. Shared some appetizers and had a few tacos each. Its the perfect place for a casual dinner. Prices were reasonable, everything was tasty and the margaritas were delicious!"

  • "I sat through my entire meal with my coat on. Lots of people were also doing the same. Very uncomfortable doubt the place had heater period. Very disappointed. Food was ok. Didn't have a menu you have to read of a chalk board which I couldn't read because it was behind me. Wouldn't recommend it or return."

  • "Overpriced for the amount of food you get, better taco places elsewhere....actually their other locations have better taco options."

  • "The location of this restaurant says it all, being in the middle of Korea town makes it a very interesting mix, flavours are so much more accentuated."

  • "I loved that Barrio Coreano infused their authentic Mexican fare with Korean spices and style. Fantastic food, great servers and a bourbon cocktail to die for!"

  • "Great food and drinks. Staff were awesome and attentive. Could have been a bit warmer inside but given new location and winter we've had it was manageable. Thanks"

  • "generally the place was nice. food was decent. it was freaking freezing in there and this detracted from the experience."

  • "I've been to the locations in the Junction and Davenport and Dupont and they were much better. I had the salmon ceviche and it was probably the worst ceviche I've had in my life, We order 4 tacos and they were so small and not tasty."

  • "Cool mix of Mexican/Korean - delicious combinations - knowledgable servers - a tangible menu would improve the individual curiosity for diners to try different items."

  • "Barrio Coreano is amazing. It was my second time there and I wanted to have my birthday dinner there. The vibe was totally unexpected according to my friends. They were pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious. Service was great."

  • "the restaurant was so cold all the patrons kept on their jackets thru dinner and all the food we received was cold (probably froze from the trip from the kitchen to the table) also we didn't receive the correct orders and there seemed to be ongoing chaos between the wait staff and the tables. They need to get their act together."

  • "great food and drinks. One draw back was no physical menus. we sat at a table where we couldn't see the chalk board which was annoying."

  • "Dinner was fun, the food was good, yummy drinks and great vibe. The only thing is the server giving us his Coles Notes on the menu. But not telling us there was anything more on offer. We spied the chalkboard and then craned our necks to see there were loads more dishes that the server hadn't offered to us. I think it's a pretty strange practice. I don't need the menu to be 'curated' for me."

  • "Everything was set to be a great night! Nice atmosphere, great menu & drinks but once we actually sat down we realized it was SOooOoooooOoo CoLD. Bone chilling cold. I attempted to take off my jacket once but it didn't last long. We asked the waitress. She blamed the old building and said she couldn't do anything to fix it. It was bad. Food was okay, cold which suited the evening. Needless to say I won't be back till spring."

  • "the place is great...food is pretty much of what you expect from a playa cabana resto...it was a cold night and the restaurant was freezing....we complained but they did nothing about it"
    Dined on 1/26/2014
  • "There literally is not a heater in the restaurant and the entire front is glass. And it's a polar vortex. When I tried to order a tea to warm up I was told they "don't serve hot drinks." Service was pushy and rude but food was really good."

  • "I've been to Playa Cabanas other locations and it was really good. But this new location is strange, the seats are small, uncomfortable and made of metal so the seats are really cold in the winter. It gets more strange, there isn't am actual menu...it's written on the wall, it's difficult to read. Definitely would never take older family members with sight problems. The waitress reads the menu for you but if it's loud it gets difficult to hear, again wouldn't take older family with hearing aids. The tables are too small. And the food comes to you on this tiny plate and tacos can be kind of messy. The service was great, really friendly staff, and it has a great atmosphere. Although their lights hang low from the ceiling"

  • "Food is very good, though it ends up being quiet expensive because all the dishes are so tiny. They are having some major issues with the heating and it was freezing. Most of the diners had their down parkas and hats on! Service was friendly and good. The space is tiny and crowded, the chairs are very hard, and it gets very loud so it's not the most comfortable dining experience."

  • "Food tastes great. I've been to two other playa cabana restaurants and they all have great food. Noise level is pretty high in the back by the kitchen where we were seated. Maybe if the music were lowered some then it wouldn't be as loud."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "Only complaint would be that the chips were WAY too salty, many of us had to brush them off and that the tortillas fell apart when you ate the tacos, and could have been more fresh. Salmon ceviche was incredible. Staff were great and drinks were awesome, albeit a bit pricy (the soju sangria in particular)."

  • "Interesting take on tacos with a Korean twist, though not all of the items taste that different from traditional tacos. Was really excited to try out this place because I love Playa Cabana, but sadly the tacos werent' as good, nor were the appetizers. The drinks were decent but it's much more fun for a group to have pitchers of magarita. Great ambiance and good for larger groups compared to other Playa Cabana locations."

  • "This is a great place if you want to try a twist on regular tacos. The service was great and the restaurant wasn't too loud. I liked that they started you off with salsa AND guac, at no additional cost."
