Diner Reviews
  • "For a 5-star hotel, there is an expectation of the level of service at the restaurants within it. I could deal with the noise, but my expectation is that we would have service worthy of the menu prices. We sat for nearly 10 minutes before being greeted and in that time saw 2 other tables of people get up to leave. Once we did get service, we inquired about some of the local beers on tap only to be told our waiter was 20 and didn't know. No offer of finding out, but just flat out 'I don't know'. I saw another table across from us get their food with 2 items missing and it was at least another 20 minutes before the remaining 2 entrees were delivered. This concept is great, but I don't think it's going to last without better service."

  • "Our dining experience was not as fun as our first time here. We made reservations a week prior and were told that bowling reservations could be made the day prior to our reservation. No such luck! As soon as we arrived, we went to play to make our bowling reservation for the following evening. No reservations available until 11:30pm! I left several voice mails for Play to call me back for cancellations and never received a message on my cell phone or in our room. We were hoping for a phone call, even though we knew we may not be able to bowl over our weekend stay. Make sure you secure a bowling reservation here if you plan to eat too!!! The food is good, but rushed this time. Wait staff was great, but bowling staff was snarky and snooty."

  • "We found PLAY to be very family friendly. The food was delicious and our server went out of her way to make us feel welcome."

  • " We were apprehensive about the menu not having as many choices as we are used to. We all had something different & they were ALL delicious!! The presentation was very cool too. We asked to sit away from a couple children that were kind of wild, but told the other areas were already closed off to diners. So we had to deal with rather invasive children coming up & bothering our children. We just ordered an extra round of drinks & then went bowling! Had a blast bowling! The servers were all very efficient and fun. Will definitely return..."

  • "Play is fun! They only have 2 wines. It's designed for the tweens and other young people. Tacos, sushi, sliders on the menu and then bowling at $50 / hour + renting shoes and maybe buying socks. Yes, it's expensive, but so is everything at the Broadmoor. "

  • "Started out with a wait for our table even with reservations. Our server was friendly, but despite telling us twice our food would come out soon, we waited at least 40 minutes after we ordered. The manager came by to check on us & when we informed her of the long wait time, she went to the kitchen & our food followed shortly. She also arranged complimentary shakes for each of our 3 kids and erased the 3 kids meals from our bill. My husband & I ordered burgers and they were cooked to perfection--possibly the best burgers we've ever eaten. French Fries were also delicious! Kids meals were right on for the portions."

  • "Casual food of the highest quality. Amazing fish tacos. Great fun for the whole family."

  • "I realize that I am at The Broadmoor, but honestly $4.25 for an iced tea. The cokes cost the same. Come on! I had eaten at the brunch earlier in the day so I didn't want a big meal. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was $8.00 and came with absolutely nothing. Not even a pickle or a few chips. The sandwich was nothing to write home about. My husband and son got a hotdog which was very good and a much better bang for the buck. My daughter got pork sliders which were also good and a much better value than the grilled cheese. The buffalo wings were excellent. The servers were very good."

  • "Our experience was just- eh. We actually did not end up eating from the menu because nothing interested us. However, we did have a $60 fee for bowling (2 ppl) and a $60 drinks fee. We had to put up with other peoples children crawling on the couch in our lane and had to ask for the waitstaff to find their parents to have them relocated. For a place like the Broadmoor, it reminded me more of Chuck E Cheese. Will not be back."

  • "This place is great for kids, esp if you reserve a bowling time. Food is below average, however. For example, the cheese on the nachos tasted like generic, processed cheese and the Hawaiian Poke was extremely salty. Service and wait staff, in true Broadmoor style, was fantastic."

  • "The fryer wasn't working so we couldn't get calamari or fries for apps. The food was okay. Loud restaurant but great for kids. Good service. In the basement so not a pretty restaurant but the bowling would be fun. Be sure to reserve your bowling time separately. I wish they had made that clearer when I called to make the dining reservations. I thought we could bowl but it was completely booked."

  • "We had the nachos as an app which were huge! After that we didn't need much else but we ordered entrees anyways. The fish tacos and burger were both very good, and we got to bowl (no reservation but this was a Sunday night) which made it that much cooler. Would definitely recommend with family or a group of friends!"

  • "Food was pretty good, the menu was a little random. For being the most family friendly restaurant at the Broadmoor I thought it was disappointing that they didn't have a kids menu. Overall, it was family friendly."

  • "We ordered the meatball (so bad the server did not charge us for it), Hawaiian sliders (tasted okay), Korean hot dog (nothing to write home about), mac and cheese (bland at best), and salt n vinegar French fries... The fries were excellent and single-handedly kept us all from going home hungry. The environment is definitely interesting and the kids seemed to really enjoy all of the games."

  • "The bowling is booked way in advance, so if you bring little ones who will be wanting to play be sure to have a resevation. Also unlike the name Play would suggest other than expensive bowling and a shuffle board they do not have other games available to play."

  • "There's an eclectic menu and then there's a completely random menu - sushi alongside matzo ball soup, crab sliders and vinegar French fries. It took maybe 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken, and then when the waiter and bartender didn't know how to make the drink one of us ordered, they just made something up and brought it to the table (which took another 15 minutes or so) and were surprised when we sent the drink back. The tuna was fishy, the crab sliders were more mayonnaise than crab, and the matzo ball soup was just fine. We complained to the manager who offered us free bowling (which we weren't interested in) and a free bottle of wine from a specific list which we didn't want either, and that was that."

  • "The food was horrible and WAY overpriced. So disappointing for the Broadmoor."

  • "Over priced. Service medium. Three served before us, that came in after us. Two burgers, fries, and two drinks, $70."

  • "We really enjoyed the atmosphere and our food. Our server was very slow taking our order and getting our food. It is just as beautiful as the hotel. Be sure to order the homemade poptarts"

  • "Our first time dining at the Play. Limited menu, average meals and atmosphere, sevice a bit slow, and a little noisy. Probably best for families with younger children. Interesting idea of mixing a restaurant with bowling."

  • "Not the best food selection for a bar/bowling alley. Very odd selections!"

  • "Our family dined at Play on a Friday night. There is a bowling alley in the restaurant so little noisey as would be expected, and lots of kids around, also expected, but the food was fantastic. We did a lot of the apetizers/small plates and there was not one thing we did not like. Very exceptional food experience. Would recommend for a group, or a family any day."

  • "Dining at PLAY was not an enjoyable experience for my family. The service was extremely slow - after being initially seated, no one approached our table for 20 + minutes ... menu was confusing and food (when it finallly arrived - ONE HOUR LATER) was not as described on the menu and just not good. PLAY should stick to what it really is ... a game room with a bar."

  • "A very creative sports bar menu. A few of the usual items, but with interesting twists. They have a lot of small plates with Asian and Latin flair that can be tried and shared. The one caveat is the prices are high, so you will pay a premium but for good food. Also, it will likely be the most expensive bowling experience you have ever had."

  • "We would not recommend the sushi. Did not taste fresh, and the ginger had an odd after taste. Fish tacos were ok. Should have known better that this was going to be solely a restaurant for young families, but really wasn't a space to enjoy conversation."

  • "I was disappointed that our wait staff did not know the answers to our questions about the menu items. I just felt for the money that we were spending for lucn, over $144.00, that the wait staff should have been more interested in our needs."

  • "We ate and bowled at Play upon arriving at the Broadmoor. What a fantastic way to start our stay after a long day of air travel! We opted to eat at our bowling lane which worked out great for our group of adults and kids (kids' ages ranged from 6-16). The service was accommodating and the food was very good (white truffle Parmesan popcorn was a perfect starter). Kids and adults had a blast and were ready for bed after all that fun."
