"My husband and I were looking for a romantic, elegant restaurant for our 10th wedding anniversary. The website for Plantation Restaurant looked as if it filled the bill. When we got out of the car and could hear the roar at the bar, I should have known then. Gordon Ramsay would tell the owner to make up his/her mind: Do you want to be an elegant, romantic (expensive) restaurant or do you want to be a sports bar??? Because you CAN'T be both. We were dressed for a night out (jacket/tie and dress) and found ourselves sitting next to tables of people dressed in jeans and sweatshirts (one lovely "lady" even had her feet -- with shoes -- up on a chair). The food was good and our server, Angie, was outstanding."

"The food was delicious, though portions were slightly scant. Even though it is off season (April 3), the menu is pricey which is typical of restaurants on this resort/vacation island. Example... only two dinner specials on the night I went and both were scallop recipes. Mine had 2 scallops, char-broiled pork belly, on mashed potatoes topped with a chutney for $30(+/-). Don't get me wrong, the food taste was AWESOME. The waitstaff is very attentive. The restaurant is open all year and the bar is a great locals hangout in the off season. All in all The Plantation is a great place to go for an all-around good time. Reservations are recommended and making them couldn't be easier, especially with OpenTable."

"We have been here before and loved it. This time it was for a surprise dinner/party for my wife's birthday with eight of her family and friends. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. This has quickly become our favorite placefto eat close to us."

"A very loud foursome sat next to us and since the space between tables is limited, we spent most of our dinner listening to the one loud mouthed female from New York."

"I have been going to the plantation for years. That said, my husband and I went for dinner on new years eve. The bar while waiting was great. The food was great. The problem was our waitress. She never introduced herself. She was very abrupt, flinging menus at us, slamming down plates, glasses. It came to our attention several times how rude she was. She ruined what could have been a very cozy new years setting for us bThen the bill came. In my opinion, a server starts at zero and works their way up. The service was so bad, we were at 10 percent. We have had daughters who worked as waitresses and we know this is a slam.. We usually tip at 20 percent. The bill already had a 20 percent tip built in that was totally undeserved."

"Not much open on LBI on the off-season and had gotten down late. Didn't feel like cooking so grabbed a bite here. two bowls of soup, two appetizers, and a shared salad cost us 60+ dollars. A bit expensive I think. Service was good, food was mediocre. 3 screaming kids there however, made it a horror show. It was 9:30, your children belonged home in bed."
