Would highly recommend5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit of Paris in Sacramento!I have never forgotten dining in quaint French bistros in Paris and surrounds, even though it was 30 years ago. Most "French" restaurants I consider an Americanized dining experience...until now. Plan B took me back to France. When you arrive you can glance at the menu, but check the chalkboard as the good stuff is up there. The mussels are beyond excellent; the rack of lamb is fantastic. Our group also had scallops, pasta, prawns, and filet mignon and everyone was fully satisfied. Fantastic desserts, too. Franck, our server, was most accommodating, especially getting the cork out of our 1985 bottle of French wine we brought along. Plan B is a bit hard to find but well worth looking for if you want an evening in France without leaving town.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Excellent all around. The food was exquisite. She is a fan. My favorite is the frisee salad with the poached egg in brique and I had never had a tartelette before which will be a regular first starter from now on. I also appreciate that they bring in unusual ingredients that are hard to come by like Rouget from the Meditteranean and Ramps from Appalachia.
The owners are very knowledgeable and engage diners readily. I love the touch of French that it exudes without ever being stuffy. I wish it were in my neighborhood but the new Paln B Bistro planned in midtown will be closer. It doesn't matter-it should be a destination.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little bistro. The food is very well done, classic bistro style cuisine. The wine list is quite good. The service is outstanding - warm and gracious, attentive and fun. While large sums weren't spent on the restaurant's build out, it's a comfortable, relaxing setting. Food is always of high quality, excellently prepared and served. Specials are always to be considered before ordering off menu. Knowledgeable waitstaff and servers. Equally consistent is the "attitude" of the slim, blond hostess. She continues to be aloof, brisk and not welcoming. This should not be the first point of contact in a restaurant, or any business, for that matter. Not a great first impression, but once warned, it can be overlooked, even toyed with! We made reservations for 4, arrived on time and our table was ready. Our service was impeccable. Very on it without being in your face and interrupting. Between salads, soup, appetizers and our dinners, the worst I can say is the calamari was just ok. Everything else was fantastic!! Loved the mussels!!!! Initially a little reluctant, they are now fans, just like we are.
