  • "We took our 16-year-old son out for a nice dinner during spring break. The food was excellent and the selection very good. My son, even though a 16-year-old football player, enjoys good food. His grilled lamb was perhaps the best. I had crab cakes and the Wife had mussels. Desert was excellent too. Service was great, and ambience very nice and low key. A little pricey for the food, but overall a great place for a special night out. As my teen age son said, it was an exceptional night out."

  • "Interesting menu with some new twists on old favorites. Food well prepared and presented. Cozy, inviting atmosphere. Our waitress seemed a little scattered but service was decent."

  • "We ate very early because we had family with children. Very accommodating with kids options. Service was very good. Menu gave many good choices. Actual prep varied among our table."

  • "My husband, son and I visited Plae on vacation to Amelia island. We enjoyed the food so much. I could describe my dish as a flavor explosion- from the sabayon sauce to the large, succulent shrimp. My husband enjoyed the bourbon salmon. We would return for a romantic dinner for the next time! I did not partake in the wine selection, but I do not doubt it's quality. Exceptional menu and quality of food. Thank you!"

  • "Plae was recommended by friends that loved it and they were right. Great food - loved the mussel appetizer. Chose the Chef's Surprise and wasn't disappointed. Fun spot and will return."

  • "While visiting the outstanding Omni Resort on Amelia Island we decided to spend my birthday at PLAE based on open table's write ups. We have found these write ups to be consistently very accurate. In this case the write ups were accurate but perhaps we had expectations that were just too high for a "fine dining" experience at a beach resort. Food was pricey but not spectacular. The wine list was extensive and had some fine selections, the service was very good, but, frankly, the ambience just wasn't there for us. The kindest way to describe it was a high class beach cafe where you can easily drop $250. For that cost there needs to be something more special with the food and the facilities."

  • "This was our fourth time eating here, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the portions healthy (we actually split the Wedge Salad), and served quickly. The waitstaff, particularly our waitress, were attentive and friendly."

  • "Plae has always been our favorite dining spot when we are in Amelia, but this time we thought they must have had a new chef. When my salmon arrived I knew it was not cooked as I had requested so II asked that it be cooked more. The chef sent the dish back saying that is the way it should be. So, I enjoyed a very good. Spinach salad instead. My husband's Caesar salads had way too much dressing and only 3 shrimp as the add -on. But, the great jazz in the cozy bar made an enjoyable evening."

  • "This was a nice, quiet, upscale restaurant and one of the better choices in Amelia Island - particularly if you are staying at the Omni resort as there is an Omni shuttle to conveniently take you from the hotel to the restaurant and back. The atmosphere was quiet, intimate almost, and very professional. The staff was superior and the food was very good. Price at our table averaged about $40/person with desert and soft drinks."

  • "Last Saturday night PlaE was not the happening place to be... there were no more than six tables filled...crickets! That being said, we were immediately sat. There was no vibe or atmosphere and we would like to try the restaurant again to see if our experience would be different. Ironically the appetizer for $19 was only 2 scallops... but the entrees were very large and very tasty. Of course, priced at $38 (chef's surprise) and $48, they should be large. Our waitress was great until the end of the meal... then she abandoned us. We were ready to leave and pay and couldn’t find her. Two other people stopped by our table to check on us. I think it was an off night for PLaE. That is unfortunate, because it cost us $200."

  • "I used Open Table to make my reservation for Friday night at PLAE, as suggested by the voice message on the restaurant 's phone. (The message did not offer an opportunity to leave them a message for call back). Open Table had all times between 6:45 and 8:30 marked unavailable. Reluctantly, I chose 6:45, snide our preferred time of 7:30 seemed to be previously reserved. The restaurant was EMPTY, but for 3 or 4 other tables, from the time we arrived, to the time we left at 8:30. What's up, Open Table and PLAE?"

  • "Reservations were at 6pm. We were promptly greeted and seated within minutes. "Gina" arrived moments after being seated. She had several suggestions to start with. We started with drinks, an appetizer, then the main course, and lastly dessert. Everything that came to the table was wonderfully prepared and tasted amazingly good. This restaurant is the perfect place for date night. You won't be rushed. You have time to enjoy the entire experience. I definitely will be returning. We had a superb evening."

  • "Our second time there and will certainly not be our last. We started with a seared salmon appetizer that was plenty for two. The chef's selection choice was excellent. A fabulous, large piece of seared tuna was the main item . For dessert, we share a bread pudding. I'm fussy about bread pudding and this one, with butterfinger crumbles, did not disappoint. The wine list has plenty of options for variety and price. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the food and wine and exceptionally pleasant. PLaE is not inexpensive but is well worth it."

  • "Enjoyed our dinner at PLAE. The arugula and beet salad was delicious and the crab cakes, were outstanding. My husband had the special, minestrone soup, to start and a grilled shrimp for dinner...both were delicious. On the expensive side, but the food is great."

  • "My wife and I had an overall good experience at PLAe. The calamari with onion rings, fried lemon slices, and a fabulous sauce were delicious as we're the soup and beet salad my wife ordered. I ordered the fish special, a whole fried red snapper. The fish did not taste done, did no flake off the backbone as it was supposed to work. I rarely send a dish back but did this time. The kitchen and server agreed it was not right and took it off the bill. Things like this happen and the restaurant handled it with class. We will not hesitate to try again."

  • "My husband and I have dined at PLAE occasionally since it opened. We usually order an appetizer each and then share an entree. This would have been enough food for us if the entree wasn't so small. We ordered the crab cakes entree as the server boasted about the generous portions of their entrees. When the crab cakes were presented, we were very disappointed by the size, amount, and preparation. There were 2 crab cakes about the size of silver dollars in circumference. They stood about an inch and a half tall. My husband took one and cut into it. It was mostly breading. I told him he could have half of the second one, which wasn't offering him much. We should have made a comment to the server, but remained silent."

  • "Our last minute dinner plans were beyond our expectations. We used open table for the first time and quickly were able to reserve a table for 2. Our service was wonderful ! The staff was very polite and our server was so nice, informative and took great care of all our needs! We will return to Plae again! Oh and the dinner was exceptional !"

  • "After having a great meal here two years ago, I was very disappointed in the quality of food during this visit. Fried Calamari was way too salty and oily and came with no kind of sauce. We asked for and received a nice marianara sauce to go with it. My wedge salad was good but not great. Ordered the filet med. rare and it arrived rare. Asked to put on the grill for just a few minutes more. Brought me a new steak, also rare. At this point I did not want to return it again or eat it. Our special holiday outing was a big disappointment"

  • "Calming atmosphere, everything around you to in a slow motion but the wait staff is on top of everything. Everything that we had was awesome, however the crab cakes according to the person that had them stated that they were just a tad too salty. I had the pork loin and it was spot on. at least 1 inch thick and sooooo tender to cut. the calamari had a unique lemon taste that brought out the flavor more so. Overall, this restaurant has two thumbs up in my book"

  • "PLaE is an island gem. The food is wonderful and the ambience is very sophisticated. The menu is one of the best on the island, The chef's surprise is always a delight-you don't know what you are getting until it actually arrives. This adds a fun note to the dining experience. We save PLaE for special occasions but it is a great dining experience."

  • "Warm and thoughtful service. We had the mussels with bl cheese that we loved! Slightly awkward to eat but very tasty! The escargot we really enjoyed, nice touch with the cheese. Beet salad was huge! So glad we shared. He ordered the veal chop. He appreciated the crab still in whole lump. Veal was cooked to temp. I ordered the whole snapper. Holy cow I tried to eat it all but couldn't. Moist and crisp. Nice presentation. Disappointed to order an espresso to be told the machine was broken. But ordered Creme brûlée and forgot all about the espresso. Very well done, good thick consistency. We will be back."

  • "Island resident, but had never been to PLAE. Very pleasant experience with good food. In contrast to claims to the contrary in some on-line reviews, the portions were quite generous and the pricing very reasonable. We used it for a small family celebration and were quite pleased."

  • "Visiting from Boston and glad we picked PLaE. The space is cozy/dim, with high booths that make each seat feel very private. We were able to find a reasonably priced bottle of wine (less than $30), which was nice. I had the tomato salad, which (although tasty) was very large for the price, but too filling to order with a regular meal. I had a grouper special over risotto that was fantastic(!), but couldn't finish. I wish I skipped the salad altogether. My husband had the tuna starter which was good, but tricky to eat. He also picked the NY strip, that was delicious and perfectly sized for less than $30. Coffee was served in oversized mugs, which I liked. The meal came to $150 after tip, which was fine for a nice evening out on vacation."
