Place PigallePlace Pigalle Never FailsService, food, ambiance -- perfect place to take that out of town guest and tie it to a ramble through the Pike Place Market. Have dined here many, many times -- to the point that they know which table I prefer.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBouillabaisse! They don't have the bouillabaisse on a regular basis but when they do - order it! It is to die for!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMan evening at Place PigalleOur server was excellent. In passing on drinks we told her that both my husband and I were dieting and she then took that in to consideration from that point forward including not tempting us with deserts... We appreciated it. We both had the salmon which was PERFECTLY cooked... even here in the northwest you often get a salmon mix of totally raw to shoe leather... This salmon was cooker to perfection with excellent seasoning as well.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceFrom the moment you set foot in the restaurant, the experience is wonderful. The hostess was welcoming, and our waiter was excellent - highly attentive yet not intrusive - a perfect balance that is hard to achieve. The restaurant has charm, history and a great view of the Ferris wheel and waterfront. My lunch companions had wine by the glass, they were happy with their selections, and the pour was generous. The oyster stew was delicious. One of my fellow diners had a great bouillabaise. If you prefer lump crab meat, then the tarragon crab salad would not be your best choice because the crab has a shredded texture. The creme brûlée and chocolate pot de creme were perfect. This is a gem of a restaurant, worth visiting again.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMunique and freshClassic French dishes with unique local twist.
Non-hurried attentive service.
Calimari dijonaise was excellent6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat findMy girlfriend and I wondered beyind the fish market at pike place and found this restaurant hiiden away. It was closed in the morning, but we saw they served octopus (a favorite of ours), so we made a note to come back later that night. We arrived and got a table within minutes. The restaurant was nice, cozy, and intimate. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and, watched the sun go down as we finished our meal. Highly recommend this romantic spot.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother lovely eveningI've been dining at Place Pigalle for many years (15?) and this was a typically lovely dinner. I especially appreciated the flexibility since we had to adjust our arrival time to accommodate my daughter's new work schedule. I have my favorite table, and (although it's not possible to reserve a specific table) it was very nice to be seated there to celebrate my daughter's move to Seattle and her new job. She says it's her favorite restaurant, too, so it looks as if Place Pigalle has another generation of fans!
Kerry Johnson was a most gracious host.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat anniversary dinner! We have been here for several anniversary dinners and have never had anything less than superior service and excellent food. The server was attentive but not obsequious and answered all of our questions. We never felt hurried. We will continue going back for many more special occasions!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive Service, charming placeThe food was good but not stunning, but the views, location and service were all outstanding. A very nice evening out!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding foodI really love the food here. The appetizers size is quite big, if I eat a soup and an appetizer, I'll be more than full. We had calamari with spinach and mushrooms in a delicious sauce and baby octopus with spinach and a delicious spicy sausage. They were absolutely wonderful, your taste buds will be delighted.
There is a French atmosphere, there were even some clients speaking French, and the waiter had a French-ish accent.
Tables by the window overlook Puget Sound, the view is gorgeous on any day, it is very open. You can see the ferries and the mountains.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench delightFresh ingredients, magical and succulent sauces, succulent sea food dishes all with a French twist and not to forget the luscious and decadent deserts. The wine list is extensive from France, Oregon and Washington regions.
The service is impeccable and the staff if professional yet very friendly. The atmosphere is very intimate.
Outstanding dining experience.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceWish I had found Place Pigalle a long time ago. We were celebrating two birthdays at lunch on Memorial Day and chose Pigalle on a whim. What a place ... we asked for a window table for the celebrants and they put us right on the best view on the waterfront. The next shock was the friendly-without-being-pesty service and the final coup was the amazing food ... GREAT FRENCH.
We will go there again and again.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in Pike Place MarketPlace Pigalle is easily the best restaurant in the Pike Place Market area. The food is made from fresh ingredients and is well prepared. They have specials from the market--this time it was Copper River Salmon. Service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Very nice wine list (there is separate reserve list in addition to what is included with the food menu). All-in-all a great experience.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch at the marketThe food and service where great! What more can I say?5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner and a MovieThe food was excellent, above average. A little noisy but okay.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Gem in Pike PlaceThis was a place my wife had her eye on for a long time. So when our anniversary came up, I made reservations well in advance as this small restaurant is always packed. We were not disappointed as the great service, terrific food, and stunning Seattle sunset views made the entire experience perfect. We started with the pâté and escargot and they were both wonderful. We could've stopped there and been good, but the main course offered many tempting dishes that couldn't be resisted. Between the duck breast and pork belly, we were both very pleased. Top it all off with a great wine list and full bar and friendly neighborhood service. This was a place worth waiting for!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the Hawaiian Albacore,I had the Hawaiian Albacore, and it was exactly what I wanted. The fish was seared to a medium rare, so it was smooth with a gentle bite. The deep-fried capers were a very nice addition since I love capers but have never had them slightly crunchy. The salad was evenly dressed and made the meal very fresh and light. I really enjoyed my dinner here!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMust Try Fine Dining in Pike PlaceQuaint dining room overlooking Elliot Bay near Pike Place Market, old school kitchen and bar gives a unique, welcoming feel. Old school menu as well, but our dishes were impressively prepared. The duck was exceptional. Wine was professionally decanted. Top notch, unpretentious, knowledgeable wait staff made the dinner memorable. We can't wait to return on our next visit to Seattle.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding experience forOutstanding experience for the food ( Albacore and duck breast) the beer (Nortinelli). Even the salads were excellent (beans salad and warm beets salad). The server was also attentive but not pushy. Great job!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Rapidly becoming one of my favorite spots. Amazing food, and really creative with flavors. Great service, awesome views, and good wine that is well priced. Was difficult to find the first time: it is buried in a corner at Pikes Place Market, but well worth the search!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view, potential for good foodThis restaurant hidden away and accessible only through the Seattle market is perched on a cliff overlooking the bay with a beautiful view of the Olympic range (on a clear day). Super at sunset. It is a great spot for an intimate dinner with a loved one or a casual business meeting since it is quiet. The staff are cordial and knowledgeable. The food has great potential, but sadly not enough attention is given to plating it and serving it hot. Food arrived at dinner for 3 just barely warm and one plate was sent back for rewarming. And of course when you re-warm an entree, it loses greatly by drying out and overcooking. Otherwise Place Pigalle is a delight.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNot a tourist trapAfter researching for a place to have dinner and a view, I took a chance and made reservations here. It turned out to not only meet, but exceed my expectations. Food was excellent. We had the sashimi special, green goddess salad, and pâté plate to start. My husband said it was his favorite pâté plate and I loved my salad! For mains, I had the scallops ( so good!) and he had the seafood bouillabaisse. The portions were large and we still made room for desert. A great spot for a date night in downtown Seattle.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMScallops were the best I haveScallops were the best I have ever had. The view and ambience were terrific5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is fantastic place. theThis is fantastic place. the crab cakes were WAY too salty but this is the first time we have ever had a problem here. A great place, great view, great staff!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely a neighborhood gem!LOVE the view of the Sound. It was a perfect evening so the windows were open.
Server was extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine and was very attentive.
Loved the unusual appetizers and salads. Quite a treat.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem in the market!Place Pigalle is tucked away in the market, with an outstanding view and great service. It's an intimate setting, and would be perfect for a special occasion. The food is delicious; you can tell that thought is put into its dishes. From our host to our waitress, service was excellent throughout our evening there. I highly recommend this restaurant.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall really enjoyed theOverall really enjoyed the experience. A friend highly recommended the octopus but I wasn't that keen on it. The pairing with the sausage was awkward. The scallops were delicious but I was still hungry. The duck was tasty but the pot de creme was disappointing as it was not that flavorful and was too dense for our taste. Great service and the view is wonderful!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, great ambienceThis is a small, well hidden treasure tucked into the corner of Pike Place Market. Its 100+ year history and fantastic sound views are icing on the cake - the food is delicious, the space is cozy and vibrant, the food is without exception delicious.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always good here,Food is always good here, and the ambience is great too! It was a full restaurant when we dined so things took a while to get to the table, and the staff didn't come around quite enough, but they did the best they could for being so busy. Will definitely be back.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always stop by when weWe always stop by when we visit Seattle. The food is delicious and a great value. We would recommend Place Pigalle to anyone who wants a small, charming--not too fussy restaurant experience and great French food. The wine list was good and the martini's excellent. Our table overlooked the Sound and we could relax and watch the ferries go back and forth. Being located in Pike's Place Market is a plus. We wandered around the shops after lunch.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPlace Pigalle is one of myPlace Pigalle is one of my favorite Seattle spots. Always reliable and they treat me very well there.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a memorable meal here.I had a memorable meal here. There was a special vegetable soup and an entree of fresh halibut with a deliciously flavored orzo. Round off with an excellent white wine. Extraordinary! I've eaten here several times and they outdid themselves with this meal.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and fresh seafood--asExcellent and fresh seafood--as you would imagine. A very nice selection of appetizers and salads--ordered the oysters on a half-shell, steamed mussels and sauteed bitter greens to start--all very good but the greens were outstanding. Fresh and flavorful. For dinner, we had the halibut (fish of the day) and the braised rabbit. As noted about their seafood, the halibut was prepared impeccably. The braised rabbit leg was delicious but the accompanying saddle roulade with duck sausage was so so (tough, and not very flavorful--I can see why the duck sausage was added).
The chocolate pot de creme for dessert was worth the price of admission, though.
Great place overall, and they live up to their reputation. Would highly recommend4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of town guests impressedHad dinner with two out of town guests and they were delighted. They plan to return again with other friends when they have their next business meeting in Seattle. I've dined at Place Pigalle various times over the past twenty years. It's high on my favorites list.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA Thirty year wonderI have known and dined at Place Pigalle off and on for over thirty years. They have remain a wonderful restaurant throughout those years. As a part of the original Pike Place Market, Place Pigalle offers the best of the Northwest. A must for tourist and locals alike. M4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMust visit! What a beautiful little restuarant! Hidden behind the fishmongers who throw the fish at the Pike Place Market. Food and service were outstanding! The view is not bad at all; we could see the Seattle Wheel and water view. A small place so make a reservation.
A wonderful date night place to go. Small groups too.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPike's Place Gem!The food and view were excellent. We started with the calamari appetizer. It was served in a mushroom cream sauce and was the most tender I have ever had. My entree was a stuffed cornish game hen with greens. It was yummy, yummy, yummy. I would definitely recommend Place Pigalle.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants. I've never been disappointed.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Sweet Night OutWhen a restaurant reaches a certain competency, and provided it has some unique aspect, the quality of the evening then becomes a matter between you and your companions. Place Pigalle is such a place. Mood, service, food, wine-list, view, ambiance all allowed for our party to thrive. I would recommend allowing time to enjoy the company, and Seattle in to the rhythm of the meal.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie gem tucked in Pike PlaceA gem tucked in Pike Place market with a view of the Sound and interesting and very tasty menu. Never disappoints.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth the service and foodBoth the service and food were outstanding. We had a corner table with windows facing the bay. The sunset was spectacular! This is definitely a keeper.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleased to find thatWe were pleased to find that Place Pigalle is as special (more!) than we remembered from years ago. The meal was superb and it's tiny - just the sort of place we treasure. We won't wait so long next time.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurantsOne of my favorite restaurants in Seattle and definitely a fave at the Market. Not everyone would think of Place Pigalle as a special occasion restaurant, but I love it's funky vibe and have celebrated many special occasions there.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding. The food was outstanding. My wife had the signature dish, mussels, and I had the French dip sandwich - the best I have ever eaten ANYWHERE. The background music left much to be desired. Some French cafe music would have been much more appropriate and certainly appreciated. Other than that, it was a good experience, and we shall return.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there. Bistro lowFirst time there. Bistro low key setting. I liked that the waitress asked if we wanted to wait for a window seat. It was lovely. I enjoyed the bartender immensely.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPlace Pigalle is a favoritePlace Pigalle is a favorite of mine -- and they treat me wonderfully there, even remembering which table I like. Food is terrific.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood has been very good, butFood has been very good, but not amazing, however the ambience, service and view make up for it.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMComfortable and romantic! My friend and I started the evening with the baked brie and a wine paired by our waiter, which wasn't our first choice but turned out to be a real winner. I had rabbit two ways and he had the lamb risotto also with a recommended wine for our entree. We ended with the most amazing creme brulee Ive ever had (very smooth and they didn't skimp on the vanilla bean). all of the food was wonderful the staff was great (even offered to hail a cab for us) and the restaurant its self felt like a romantic hole-in-the-wall find. it isn't cheap but is definitely worth every penny.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA quiet spot in Pike PlaceA quiet spot in the brouhaha of Pike Place Market. The four of us enjoyed our lunch immensely. Two of us had the bouillabaisse which was excellent. One person ordered crab cakes Pigalle which she liked. A fourth person had risotto (spinach?) which he felt was good, but a little "soupy". Desserts (creme brulee and pot de creme) were excellent. The service was attentive, but not hovering. I especially liked that the waiter spontaneously told us the price of the day's special without having to be asked.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
