Second time dinning there. Had the chorizo, short rib & veal meatballs, the burratta capresse salad w/ arugula and finished with a wonderful breakfast style pizza called Sunny Side Up. Portions were perfect for the two of us and service was pleasant as before. Will make PL8 a stop on our dinning rotation.

  • The goat cheese croquettes

    Dined on 7/14/2012
The goat cheese croquettes were the find of the menu from my POV, but my compadres felt the mac-n-cheese and chicken tacos were excellent. My POV on the croquettes is that they have to be served hot so that the cheese retains its soft, creamy consistency. These were, and they were the bomb.

  • A change for the better at PL8

We had been customers of the Himmarshee Grill for many years, before they changed to PL8. We have been very disappointed with their new concept, not caring for the menu nor the service. We decided to give them one more try, and we are glad that we did. The menu has changed for the better, incorporating some of their previous delightful dishes, along with some new and innovative plates. Their pizzas are a good choice, and they finally have added a few more salads, although some roasted vegetable choices would be a welcome addition. Our waitress was excellent, and she informed us that there were some additional revisions to the menu upcoming. Hopefully this is a precursor to new and enjoyable experiences here, in a desert of decent dining

On the balcony overlooking the stream of characters along 2nd Street while noshing on unique and delish small plate selections is a great way to spend a Saturday night. Crispy fried chicken sliders garnished with watermelon was followed by a delightful, rustic sunny side up quail eggs, smoked gouda, bacon, maple syrup and truffle oil pizza. The calamari was lightly breaded and just spicy enough. Deconstructed tiramisu was the perfect ending to our PL8 experience. Will be back soon and will bring friends.

The food was lousy and it was noisy as other restaurants noise bleeds over to PL8. Our waitress was awesome. Disappointed by the food. We ordered 3 tapas and didn't finish any of the plate and they weren't very big. There was only 2 of us. Skewers of meet were dry, tough, over cooked. The brushetta / shrimp was a hot and cold item on top pita bread. yuckie. The salad was good though. I wouldn't come back cuz there's too much good food out there to eat.

PL8 is definitely a little hidden gem. We had a hard time finding it, but worth it! Very different menu, very hip and fun. We shared a bunch of different items from the menu and who would have thought mac and cheese with papaya and proscuitto would taste great, but it did!!!! If you are in Ft. The food was really good. What I liked so much about the food was the originality of the combinations and how well put together everything was; how somewhat varied ingredients complimented each other so well. I really liked the Mini Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Watermelon and fried chicken, who would have thought of that? I also really liked the El Caribe Pizza. The pizza was made up of guava, prosciutto, brie and watermelon, OMG!!! The waitress was very helpful. She explained the dishes and when we had one little issue, she rectified it right away. All is all, my experience at PL8 was great. Food, service, atmosphere, nothing to complain about here.

The food (tapas) was outstanding and the service was very friendly. The location of the restaurant is perfect for lunch near downtown Ft. Lauderdale and surrounding businesses. Parking was easy too. The only issue I had was the darkness of the restaurant perhaps due to the decorative renovations in progress.

    Dined on 4/13/2012
we have been going to PL8 for pre-theatre (every event) ever since it has opened (plus St Patrick's Day). Unfortunately the past 2 times we have been seated in the bar area with very loud music, in spite of the fact that I have made the reservations 6 weeks ahead of time. This past Friday night we repeatedly asked our waitress to get the music turned down (it was only6:30 so no big bar scene) Apparently the OWNER/MANAGER was resisting !!!???? The food is always delicious - but I was disappointed this last time because they took the shrimp skewers and swordfish off the menu. For those of us who are health conscious and non-beef eaters, that is very disappointing. Too much meat! I had salad and sweet potatoes - still delicous. alice m

"Tiger shrimp" were pasty frozen bait-size shrimp. "Short ribs" were, at best, short rib bones with a skirt of very thin meat around them. Drinks were extremely weak. Complaints were met with an apology and a check for the entire meal. Amateur hour. Would strongly recommend another choice in this crowded market for restaurants.

PL8 has a wonderful 'small plates' menu. I love it for the many vegetarian options in every course. Outdoor dining is mostly street-side in the fun arts district of downtown Fort Lauderdale. Indoor decor is urban-chic and very pleasing, too. The service is terrific, great casual place or before/after the theater (walking distance to Broward Center).
