Diner Reviews
  • "We've been eating at Pizzeria Mozza since it opened several years ago. At the start, the food was outstanding but the service was not -- disappointing considering the outstanding service one always gets at the sister Osteria Mozza. After a while, the service improved, but seems to now have reached a hit-or-miss level, just depending on who you get. The hostess is always charming, the food is still great, the bar service is consistently good, but the dining room wait staff is inconsistent. "

  • "Despite our server being somewhat distracted, forgetting drinks and completely ignoring an order of an additional appetizer, the evening was overall very enjoyable. "

  • "There are some amazing things about Pizzeria Mozza. The Apps are small and good for sharing, and most are very delicious. Didn't care for brussels sprouts, but not a huge fan anyway. The goat cheese with lentils is amazing! The Pizza, so good. We had sausage and scallions, and the fennel in the sausage is so earthy and delicious. That was definitely share worthy. Although those things were good, the best might have been the dessert, and I am glad I saved room. We had a chocolate tartufo and butterscotch budino. Both were amazing. I would go back just for desserts. "

  • "I hadn't been to Pizzeria Mozza for quite some time. While the pizza is delicious, I don't understand the continued difficulty to get a reservation at this restaurant. There is no doubt that the pizzas are some of the best in Los Angeles, however, the rest of the food is definitely lacking We ordered the brussel sprouts which would we would have preferred if they were served warm. The pane bianco is basically warm bread drowned in olive oil. Nice concept and tasty bread, but the amount of olive oil was excessive. Service was split --- one waits was amazing, and the other waitress didn't want to be bothered."

  • "One of my favorite places to go in LA, the pizza is delish and the crust is perfect. So far I have loved every thing I have tried!"

  • "You know it's a special place when over the years the food still gets better and more creative and the people still serve you as if you are a guest in their home. The standard is very high here...and that makes the experience the very best."

  • "I love this place and keep coming back for special occasions. The food is consistently good, especially the different starters. This last time there were many more children than I have seen in the past for lunch. It got a little loud. But this is not an intimate place. Still my favorite restaurant. "

  • "All 3 in our party agee that we loved the very thin crust with a chewy outer ring! I had the sausage & onion (can't remember exactly what they call it in the menu but those were the main toppings), & the chunks of ground sausage were huge! Almost like meatballs! I would order it again. Fun atmosphere. Real wood fired pizza oven. Cool vibe. "

  • "I dined Pizzeria Mozza to celebrate a family member's birthday. She had wanted to eat there for a while and we finally made it uo there. It was met my expectations and then some. The Tricolore salad was very flavorful, as was the Bittersweet Chocolate Tartufo with Olive Oil Gelato and Sea Salt. But the highlight was the Fennel Sausage, Panna, Red Onions, and Scallion Pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. I want to drive over to Pizzeria Mozza right now as I write this. The flavors are perfectly balanced, the crust was excellent, and there was no greasiness to it. The pizza was perfection."

  • "Best pizza we have add in a long time. Great toppingd. Coconut gelato pie with fudge and almonds was even better. An hour drive for us but we will return. the one negative is the tables are jammed together. Eating with your neighbour is fine but can't get up with moving table and disturbing next table,"

  • "Been trying to get into Mozza for a long time. Surprisingly got a same day reservation, must have snagged a cancelation. Food was wonderful! Six people shared three starters, four pizzas and 2 bottles of wine, all were delicious! Started with Nancy's chopped salad, then a gooey mozzarella with yummy garlic bread, followed by carrots that were recommended. Surprisingly, carrots were unbelievable, a must try. My favorite pizza had spicy broccoli, but friends loved the meat lovers and four cheese. Only weird thing was that they would not sit four out of six of us, entire party needed to be there. So we crowded around a small area, starred at our empty table for 15 minutes and grumbled. Not a great beginning, but food more then made up for it"

  • "Pizza always so crunchy and tasty. Disappointed my favorite desert wasn't on the menu- Meyer lemon gelato pie. The Coconut gelato with chocolate was a good substitute."

  • "My friends were really big fans of this place as it offers a lot of vegetarian options and a great locale. Which it did both. But the overall experience, even for them this night, was sub par. We had four different people introduce themselves coming over to our table trying to take our order, causing three people to apologize . I received the wrong wine, which to their credit, they did replace. But then the actual entree took over an hour and twenty to receive. Not a word from our actual service until the food finally came. But when the bill came they couldn't come fast enough to swipe our cards and send us packing - and for what we ordered and the service we received on top of $10 valet, the bill was outrageous."

  • "I'm a foodie, and eat at the LA range of restaurants (by hype, price, dive, reviews) all the time. We had two pizzas---neither generated a "wow! that's really good" comment--in fact, neither of us (who have spent time in Italy and at great restaurants everywhere) had much to say at all about the food....which is sad, since we went for the WOW-let's eat at Mozza! experience/hype. Lunch for two was about $120 with tip. I had nothing to drink, she had a prosecco (sp?). That's a LOT of money for two pizzas and a salad and one drink (pretty sure that was it). Go to yelp, find a pizza place by you, and eat there instead. Can I have a refund??"

  • "Always busy...need to make reservations to get a table. Parking is a bit of a problem. Any free street parking is blocks away. Inside the place is small, but very nice. It keeps the the traditional Italian heritage appearance. The menus I thought could have had more of a food selection. I didn't know what some of the ingredients were...I would have appreciated a few pictures to show what the final dish looks like. Service was good and always helpful."

  • "The tables at Pizzeria Mozza are too close to each other. The noise level was beyond loud. My friend and I had to text each other to communicate because of the noise level of the restaurant. For the price, the portion sizes are too small. Disappointed."

  • "Great personal service at the bar, food was solidly good but too salty. Very frustrating interaction with the hostess (April), who misled us about our reservation, wait time, and then forgot about us."

  • "Value is a valid point when discussing any restaurant experience. The tuna and zuchini frys entree was uninspired, and way overpriced at thirty dollars. The tuna freshness was mediocre. Zuchini fries were boring. The pizza was good, but plenty of pizza places can do the same. Mozza is not a good value."

  • "Took the while family after a late reservation. Enjoyed the appetizers very much. Not too large in size but big in flavor. Pizza and Sunday special of Lasagna were great! Definite treat for the family!"

  • "Amazing restaurant. We flew in from Boise to LA and Pizzeria Mozza did not disappoint. Foodie food, but without the prevention. Just great food and presentation. Had the Ipswich clam pizzetta and it was fantastic. Crust was perfectly done."

  • "My friend and I had a delicious dinner at Pizzeria Mozza. On a Friday it was packed so I recommend reservations. It was also very loud. Had a wonderful time and would definitely go back. However if you seek more intimacy, I would recommend Osteria Mozza."

  • "We were seated in a room that I never even knew existed which was loaded with wine bottles floor to ceiling. It was such a pleasant surprise. The room was separate from the usual dining and bar area. It was more quaint and quiet where we could actually carry on a conversation with our guest and hear every word. Definitely will request this room next time when I'm making a reservation. The food and the service is always amazing. Love it here."

  • "Went here for my boyfriend's birthday and it was absolutely amazing. They have a great wine selection and their pizzas are delicious. We tried to the pepperoni and the meat lovers. Both were fantastic. The meat lovers pizza had possibly the best bacon I have ever tasted on there. Neither of us are big on dessert, but their chocolate cake was impeccable. Definitely will be returning soon to try the rest of the pizzas!"

  • "This is what a well-run restaurant should be like! We made an early reservation, so we were seated with no problem! The place itself is very small-opened at noon, got there at 12:15, and by 12:45 there was a large group of people waiting. They have a counter, tables and booth/table combinations. It was tight squeeze in the booth. We ordered the mista salad, which was big for not really worth $8. It was just a mix of lettuce and dressing- nothing else. Some other people around us ordered hot appetizers that looked delicious. Our pizzas were fantastic and out quick! Dessert was amazing. Everything was efficient- water never below half full, plates cleared quickly, check brought out in time. Overall, excellent experience."

  • "As always, the food at Mozza never disappoints. The host and server could have been a bit more friendly but overall tolerable. We had a 9:15pm reservation, arrived at 9:05pm, was told by the host the table will be ready in 10-15 minutes. We were seated at 9:35pm (it was totally expected since I've been there many times before and it's always like this). Mozza caprese, meatballs, cauliflower, pizzas, the bread and many more...all too amazing. The sommelier/manager was very helpful and we enjoyed our 3 bottles of wine. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and our server was kind enough to bring out desserts with candles. Overall, we had a very nice experience. We over ordered but that was expected too. Totally worth it."

  • "Very trendy but only for the scene (LOUD, crowded) rather than for the food (unbelievably salty) or the service (disingenuous host; stressed servers -- had to ask 3 times for the same drink refill). Come for the celebrity chef branding & the scene, avoid for the food & service."
