A word from Pizzeria Libretto-Danforth
Pizzeria Libretto is a lively Toronto neighbourhood restaurant offering Real Neapolitan Pizza certified by the VPN.
Atmosphere? Bright, busy, fun, loud and homey. Everyone is welcome: singles & couples, young and old, families, and those going on their very first date. No dress code—come as you are, or however you want to be.
Libretto aims to be loyal to what real pizza is, invented in Naples using local natural ingredients, cooked in a wood fired oven at extremely high heat to achieve a charred, blistered crust. We use San Marzano tomatoes and Fiore di Latte Mozzarella, brought in fresh daily. Our dough is made with naturally leavened Italian Caputo dopio zero flour. Our pizza bakes in less than 90 seconds in our 900 degree wood burning oven, hand built for us by a 3rd generation pizza oven maker in Naples. Simple, Honest, and Natural.

Diner Reviews
  • "The staff at Libretto-Danforth are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food is impeccable - try the pizza of the day as they always come up with an amazing combination of new ingredients. "

  • "Overall meal was good but appetizers could have been better. Warm olives were terrible most were left on plate on server never asked. I'm from avellino and never had warm olives before. Suggest stick to good quality spiced olives. Gnocci were equally disappointing. Calamari was OK but not the greatest. The pizza was excellent we ordered 3. But the prosciutto arugula one was not. Prosciutto way too fatty not the greatest qualify either. Room for improvement but likely will be back."

  • "Eating out in Toronto comes with a lot of disappointments, but Pizza Libretto on the Danforth is one of a few places that manages to deliver over and over. The pizza is bar-none the best in town - here in particular, more so than at the Ossington location - and the staff are always friendly, prompt, and make an effort to make your evening special. Can't recommend this location highly enough - great for a celebration, or just to get out with friends."

  • "Met a friend for dinner here a few nights ago. The pizza was incredible, the cocktails were unique and fun, and dessert was good, though not as good as dinner itself. My friend and I left extremely happy and full and satisfied. My only issue with the night was that service was a little slow and had to wait longer than normal to get water, to get our orders, to get our bill even though it was not a full house that night... But aside from the speed of service, it was a fantastic dinner and service was friendly and I will definitely be coming back."

  • "Seriously—the best pizza in Toronto. Sure, it can seem a bit pricey, but it's true to the Neapolitan style and the toppings/flavors never disappoint. The meatball appetizer is great and the Nduja sausage (or what southerners call andouille, similar in spice/texture) pizza is delicious. And the tiramisu... so creamy it leaves you thinking about your next trip to Libretto!"

  • "Overall experience was great, yummy yummy pizza, great service!"

  • "This visit had everything the other visits had but this time the food missed the mark. Pizza was bland this time out and the pepper oil that gives the pizza a kick was tasteless in comparison. We will return as past visits were all amazing but not this time out. I still recommend this place."

  • "Either waiter or kitchen staff messed up order for our family of four. Missed one ingredient on one pizza and added another ingredient to another pizza that was specifically asked to be NOT included. After food was delivered by bus staff, waiter did not follow up quickly to check on our table and we had to flag down a bus staff person in order to rectify the order. As a result, the main course for our party of four arrived all at different times. The waiter apologized and did not charge us for our carbonated water or olive appetizer but we have never encountered this lack of quality in the service provided at the Ossington Libretto location where we often go; we were definitely disappointed in our first experience at the Danforth location."

  • "Our lunch yesterday was fabulous, from seating to our appetizers to our pizzas to our desserts and of course the service! Everything was very tasty and was up to our expectations. This was our second time here but my first time ordering dessert. The tirimisu was out of this world! I could get enough of it! Definitely will come back more often!"

  • "Well a re-visit to this restaurant proved to be excellent in all ways. Table for 4 in the centre of restaurant proved to be a better choice than jammed against the wall with adjoining tables much too close. Still noisy but not as bad and could hear conversation at the table this time. The food was EXCELLENT as was the great, timely and friendly service by the waiter with the constellation tattooed on his arm. lol Thanks for a pleasurable lunch rendezvous with my friends."

  • "This was my first time at Pizzeria Libretto-Danforth, & I have nothing but good things to say about this place! The staff were excellent; quick, friendly & knowledgeable! The restaurant itself is beautiful; I'm a big fan of the open kitchen concept & this place totally delivered. You can see their wood burning ovens & I love the fact that you can also see them making your pizza fresh to order. My bf (who is a vegetarian) & I ordered 2 pizzas; he the Margherita D.O.P. & me the Nduja Sausage. Both were delicious! We were happy to see a variety of meatless options on the menu which included such things as the Ricotta Gnocchi Fritti & Arancini in which we ordered as well. Again, delicious! Definitely returning to this place."

  • "Service and food was very good but very pricy considering we are both vegetarians. It was $125 for dough, cheese, 2 veggies, and two glasses of wine each! No dessert even. Ouch......."

  • "I went here on a date and though we both thought the food was excellent, the atmosphere was a little... open and loud. I would not recommend this place as a date spot unless you're well into the relationship and not counting on the restaurant to provide ambience. Otherwise, the space is highly recommended"

  • "The food is good, but the service was very rushed. The servers seemed to transfer their stress of the busy night on to the customers. The food came out too fast and we felt like they were just waiting to clear us out and get in another towable to make some money. They brought out our pizzas before we even finished our appetizer...and then brought out our bread after the pizzas arrived...??"

  • "I heard Pizza Libretto was the best in town but had to find out for myself. I can honesty now say it is true. My date and I split 2 pizza's & a bottle of wine. Service was great, very friendly staff & the pizza was delicious! Been craving it ever since. Won't be long before I go back."

  • "A couple of complaints. I had mentioned on Open table to the restaurant that it was a special occasion. We were celebrating my son's 12th birthday. He chose this restaurant. I would have expected some acknowledgement. Second, the waiter seemed preoccupied. He got the kids drink order wrong, we had to ask for our wine after our meal came. Disappointing, since this is our favorite go to pizza place."

  • "The pizza, service and ambiance was fantastic. We tried the fixed price menu and it was perfect for two! The Ontario prosciutto pizza was so delicious and very light. Lots of selections of light beers and delicious italian soda's as well. The atmosphere is very urban, with a bit of industrial charm. We will definitely be back to try more of the pizzas!"

  • "Nice pizzas, great service but a bit on the pricey side. two pizzas, two glasses of wine each, tip and tax for $120.00 I felt there wasn't that much value here, for what you're getting."

  • "Delicious, fresh ingredients. could not ask for better pizza! Highly recommend the meatballs as an app."

  • "Food was great as usual. The staff are all really friendly and are always willing to make suggestions or accommodations. Try the arancini as an appetizer..... My favorite pizza is the house made sausage with a little chili oil."

  • "Had lunch here with a friend. This is a nice casual place where the pizza is great and the service even better. I was in Italy for a couple of weeks last year where I ate a few good pizzas. My pizza at Libretto (i had the house-made sausage pizza with caramelized onions) was as good as any I had in Italy. My arugula salad was good too. It's a good deal to get the prix fixe lunch. Above all, the service was outstanding. It was a team effort and each of the staff we interacted with was enthusiastic and friendly."

  • "Great place to eat if you love pizza. Thin crust pizza with many delicious toppings to choose from. The calamari appetizer was scrumptious. The ambience was nice, but perhaps a little bright. Great place to meet up with friends. Service was terrific -- they created a very friendly atmosphere. Will definitely go back there to eat."

  • "The food and atmosphere were very good. We come often because of it. However, the tip default of 17% is not appealing. Let your guest rate your service themselves. Its a turn off for me and I will always under tip when you tell me what 'you' expect."

  • "Libretto is a definite go to on the Danforth. It is always good. This location is much better than the one on Ossington as it allows you to reserve a table and has more space (upstairs and downstairs). Even if you don't have a reso, you can often get a bar seat upstairs or downstairs. The Nduja pizza is exquisite. The ingredients are always fresh and the spice factor is epic. The chili oil is the best I've had in the city. I do with they still had an Italian beer on tap. When they first opened they had Peroni or Moretti on tap. Nevertheless, bottles are available and equally as good! :)"

  • "I have never been disappointed by the service and food at libretto. The danforth location is very far away from us but we often visit because they take reservations, and never push you to hurry up. Great for groups as you can sit and chat - I wish they would space out appetizer and main course delivery as it came right after the other, but otherwise one of our favorite places. Get the spelt crust."
