Pizzeria Libretto is a lively Toronto neighbourhood restaurant offering Real Neapolitan Pizza certified by the VPN.
Atmosphere? Bright, busy, fun, loud and homey. Everyone is welcome: singles & couples, young and old, families, and those going on their very first date. No dress code—come as you are, or however you want to be.
Libretto aims to be loyal to what real pizza is, invented in Naples using local natural ingredients, cooked in a wood fired oven at extremely high heat to achieve a charred, blistered crust. We use San Marzano tomatoes and Fiore di Latte Mozzarella, brought in fresh daily. Our dough is made with naturally leavened Italian Caputo dopio zero flour. Our pizza bakes in less than 90 seconds in our 900 degree wood burning oven, hand built for us by a 3rd generation pizza oven maker in Naples. Simple, Honest, and Natural.

  • "My food was amazing, go for the meatballs you will not be disappointed. However, the service could have been better. We waited forever for the server to come take out drink order, then the drinks took quite some time to come. When our food did come one member of our party did not receive their pizza. It eventually came about 10mins later after we had to remind the server not all of us had our food. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. In the past I have had great service at libretto so hopefully we just caught them on a bad night."

  • "Even though the place is quite noisy and lacks a bit in privacy, you forget about it as you sample and select into those delicious pizza! At last a place that offers food as good as in Italy. You can even have a peek at the ovens while you wait. Absolutely delicious! A great find!"

Unfortunately, the noise level in the busy dining room is deafening; very uncomfortable. Maybe Fri is exceptionally busy, especially in the summertime. The outdoor seating area is small, but pleasant, although only suitable in good weather."

  • "The Pizza's are always superb and the main draw - as they should be. However the rest of the menu has lots of gems (from the value-for-money wines to unusual salad's to great desserts) , which add to a really great all round experience. Servers are all well qualified to help you make your choices. The only thing to watch on is its a very noisy restaurant when full - this will either add to your experience, but maybe miss or pick a quiet time if you have delicate hearing. However, it a must go if you love well served and prepared food in a lively environment."

  • "Service was excellent. Menu changes they have made eliminated the fabulous fried polenta appetizer and the selection is now much what you would get anywhere. Pizza I had last time also gone from the menu. Ordered grilled eggplant pizza and it came slow because it "hadn't turned out the way they wanted it to" so they had to redo it. Finally came with the cheese shredded on the top but cold and not melted. Unsure if it was meant to be that way but was too hungry by that point so just ate it. It was flavourless. Desert selection also seemed mundane so passed. No atmosphere. Its just a bunch of tables squashed into a tiny space and extremely noisy but didn't care before because the food made up for it. Not so sure about that anymore."

The price fixe was a pleasant surprise as this is not one of the Summerlicious participants. As a vegetarian, often the selection is limited but my requests were accommodated."

  • "Whenever I am away from the city, PL is one of the "Toronto things" tht I yearn for most. Their food is delicious and the staff are super nice to my kids. Our only complaint (and for us, this is NOT a deterrent) is the noise level - it can be killer on a busy night. Big party? Ask about the room on the lower level - takes care of the noise problem. YUM!"

  • "I've been to both the Dundas West and the Danforth locations several and have never been disappointed. In fact, I eagerly anticipate each visit. Food and service at both places is always top notch. The Danforth location is a more relaxed experience and I really appreciate that reservations are taken here. My favourite dishes here are the margerita pizza, the beet salad, and the fried gnocchi."

  • "I come down to the Danforth a lot but only come to Libretto Pizzeria every 3-5 months so that my girlfriend and I don't get tired of it. I love the ambiance of the place and it's always good to go between 3-5pm so that you miss the busy lunch/ dinner crowd and you basically have the restaurant to yourself. The service is always great, I have never had a bad experience. There are a lot of imitators trying to do what Libretto does but they can't touch what Libretto puts out quality wise and service wise. I love the warm olives and meatballs as an appetizer, the pizza's are always good with lots of flavor. The gelato is excellent especially the affogato as I love espresso. Overall had a wonderful experience."

  • "We've been here before and it was better. The noise was unbelievable. Maybe some glass dividers to break the noise. I had to tell to be heard just across the table. The tomato sauce particularly, was very salty. The crust was soggy where it should have been crispy and light. It was chewy. Like I said, I do want to love it! The staff was friendly. Our waiter was nice but not very attentive. I had to stack our own dishes and waited too long for them to be removed. I also had to get his attention 5 times, during our dinner. "

The manager right from the start jumped in and engaged with Oliver my nephew and was sure to visit and check in with him (specifically him!). On our 2nd visit the same manager recognized us immediately with a big hello to Oliver by name! He came over to our table and was listening intently to Oliver tell stories about all the rocks he had collected from the ROM. Thanks for the great guest service and kid care! It makes such a impact!   • "The lunch Fixe Prix is a must! $15 for three courses, including a full size pizza. Ordered everything on the fixe menu for the table. Everything was great. The beet caprese salad and arugula salad really stood out. Added cheese to the Marinara pizza for $2. Tried all four gelato flavours. The espresso was crazy intense, but the chocolate was perfection. It was a bit noisy for lunch and the was good until it got busier. Our server got a bit preoccupied when we were trying to wrap up. "

  • "Great pizza! Duke the waiter was good and funny. Other waiter who brought cocktail and cappuccino was even better had great rapport. First Word cocktail was perfectly balanced Aperol cutting through Chartreuse loved it. Pizza moister and thinner than what folks may be used to but closest to what you get in Italy I have found in Ontario. Sausage pizza was spicy from chili oil, great with Bufala mozzarella. Donuts were crazy good, cappuccino flawless, olives not good I would skip. Other tables had calamari and raved about it. Looked really neat and 3 orders I saw were identical which is tough to do. Sparkling water was salty like seltzer which was weird. Walls are bare and open concept kitchen created reverb so bad it was deafening!"
