Diner Reviews
  • "Very much enjoyed our experience at PizzaArte. The food is wonderful and the service was very attentive. We tried both pizza and pasta - all delicious and the pasta is home made, Will definitely return next time I am in New York."

  • "I met up with some out of town friends for lunch. We each ordered something different - pizza, pasta, fish, salad. We were on a limited schedule and were served promptly. My friends loved their food. I liked my gnocchi, although it seemed to have cooled down a bit too much before it got to the table. Our waiter was friendly."

  • "Was surprised to find the place had been renovated. Missed the old place and the great lobster pizza. Anyway, the hostess was friendly. We had to wait for a few minutes and directed to a coat rack in the back. The bar downstairs was all seats occupied, but not too loud. Then we were escorted to our table upstairs. The place was full, and the noise level was higher than downstairs. The art works were colorful and great to admire while waiting for food. Food was OK. Pizza was good. Service was a bit slow since the place was crowded."

  • "Simple pizza, pasta and risotto all served well. Its like Italy moved to midtown. Try the eggplant or zucchini sides. They are wonderful."

  • "I chose this restaurant for their Gluten Free pizza, it was delicious. I've tasted a lot of GF pizza and this was by far the best GF crust so far. No problems, I plan on returning!"

  • "Chewy and soft like delicious bread dough, but thin enough to not be overly filling. Authentic Italian atmosphere. Will return!"

  • "we had just returned from 6 weeks in italy and were reluctant to even try an italian restaurant but this one was very good indeed. my salad of carcoifi and rocket was just like being in Rome my husbands carbanora was perfect and our guests loved their salads and the calamari fritti which we shared was perfecto"

  • "I have walked past this restaurant many times but this was the first time we ate there. I found it solely through Open Table, looking for a reasonably priced restaurant near City Center. We could not have been more pleased. The upstairs dining room was quiet enough to have a conversation and yet full of families and groups on a recent Friday night. The food was delicious, the service excellent. How delightful, also, to be in an Italian restaurant that was really Neapolitan. The entire staff and owners introduced themselves and were warm and friendly. I almost hate to give such a good review, wanting to keep the restaurant for myself, but it deserves the attention. Thank you, PizzArte, for a memorable dinner. We'll be back. Ciao!!"

  • "Third time in N.Y.C. and the staff was fantastic. We were treaded like kings and queens and the food was amazing. Food looked great in front of you and we were looked after by the maître d. Great place for a lunch and we will be back for sure next time in N.Y."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere. Romantic with very attentive servers and waitstaff. Delicious meat/cheese selections and generous portions. Highly recommend! Tables are a little close together but otherwise 5 stars."

  • "We ate upstairs and the room was bright and cheerful--the many paintings interesting to look at. The service was pretty dismal, forgetful, odd, rude. The busboy scolded my husband for not noticing he was waiting to refill the water glass my husband was drinking from. Pizza toppings were fine, but the crust is not good, very soft and puffed up--until 30 seconds after arriving at the table it starts to deflate. No plain side salad to go with pizza. Who needs more cheese or meat in salad next to pizza with cheese and/or meat? Will not be back."

  • "The food was artistc and delicious. The octopus appetizer was served shaved in a lovely vinaigrette that mimicked an abstract painting! The veal and prosciutto stuffed ravioli was the special and it was delicate and savory. The pizzas are not heavy and topped with interesting combinations of cheeses and accoutrements. Our children are 10 & 16 and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and were treated respectfully by the waiters. There were two other families with much younger childrenin our area and they all had no problem ordering and feeding them from the menu. The ambiance is that of eating beautiful food in an art gallery but its not stuffy at all. Highly recommend eating here!"

  • "we often go to pixxarte when we are going to City Center and it is also convenient when peopl from all over the city are converging. the artichoke salad was delicious as was the rich veal and cheese ravioli. PIzzas were good if a bit underdone. Food prices are reasonable for the neighborhood."

  • "Over all the place is nice, and clean. The salads are great and the Tartufata pizza (sp?) was great but the margarita pizza needs some work. The complementary olives are amazing."

  • "This is a great choice for pre-theater dinner near City Center. The homemade whole wheat pasta was delicious, and everything we saw come out of the kitchen, including the pizzas, looked like something we'd have to try on subsequent visits. This is much more than a pizzeria with many pasta, risotto and other appetizer and main course options. Service was very friendly and attentive in the upstairs dining area."

  • "While New York is known for pizza, there are few places in Manhattan to have authentic Napolitano pizza. Pizzarte is one of them. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and is one of the nicer pizza restaurants in midtown."

  • "We tried this restaurant because our first choice was booked. Our party of six was thrilled with the quality of the food. The pastas were home made and cooked al dente with flavorful sauces. The pizza appetizer was delicious. Salads were all fresh and dressed with just the right amount of dressing. The grilled calamari salad with thinly sliced artichokes was excellent. The sirloin steak was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The artwork was a nice touch and conversation piece."

  • "I had a lovely meal, the food was absolutely delicious but the service was jarring. I have never felt so rushed to eat my meal in a very long while and was quite surprised at this considering it was an italian restaurant, with other families and tables with more people than the group I had with me. Everything, absolutely everything else was fantastic but the waiting staff and customer service was not good at all, at all."

  • "We had a really fun and delicious meal here for our first night in NYC. It was quite energetic, so a bit hard to converse for our group of 5, but exciting nonetheless. The only difficulty was that our open table reservation was apparently nonexistent. Luckily they had plenty of space when we arrived. I did not followup with the hostess about that, so perhaps it was found eventually. I had received 2 confirmations via email, so I know it was in the system. It might be worth a phone call to confirm with an actual person."

  • "I had guests from out-of-town and suggested PizzArte. They were a little skeptical. . . until they tasted the salads and then the four cheese pizza, one of my absolute favorite pizza anywhere. Smokey, cheesy, and light and crisp. To quote one of my guests: "I will keep that place bookmarked for my trips to the city. . . ""

  • "Took my daughter and her friends here for lunch before heading to theater. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fun for a lively group of 18-20 year old young ladies. We all had a great time. The pizzas were delicious. We also had the calamari, risotto special of the day, ravioli and gnocchi. Everyone loved their meal! Dessert was awesome too! You should go!"

  • "Visting NYC on business, found the restaurant on Yelp and booked on Open Table. My business associate and I had a great time, Ate at bar, food was great (and we know Italian food) and fairly priced, bartender was excellent and fun, owner/manager was on top of everything in a nice way. It's a small narrow restaurant on two floors, we chose to sit at the bar as the upstairs seating was a little tight. A great find we will be back."

  • "2-year old wood pizza oven looks great tiled with red. Dined with 3 young children and staff was accomodating and helpful. Ordered off menu for kids with no problem. Eggplant app was lovely as was pizza and pasta. Reasonably priced wine selections."

  • "On a cold snowy night we enjoyed crispy battered seafood (light and grease-free), a delicious salad and a fabulous spicy pizza. Service was friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the bread and olives, too. We stayed for dessert and enjoyed an excellent cheesecake. This little bit of Italy was the perfect refuge on a cold night."

  • "I decided to dine here at the recommendation of a friend. The ambience is modern and there is art work (for sale) decorating the restaurant's walls (which was a nice touch). The waiter was great-- knowledgeable and friendly. I went there for pizza (not surprising) and they have a great variety to choose from. I had the pizza with sausage and mushrooms with mozzarella. I entitled my review "meh" because that is how the pizza was. Very bland considering the toppings. The table also shared appetizers-- eggplant parmigiana and the fried seafood dish (shrimp and calamari). The eggplant was tasty but the shrimp seemed blah. All in all, they need to season their food better to bring out its flavor (or use more quality ingredients)."

  • "I am an Italian living in NYC. I tried several real Italian pizzerias. This is definitely my favorite. Pizza there is very close to Italian standards. Other food is great as well. The ambience is also nice, much nicer than that of other pizzerias in town."

  • "My daughters and I very much enjoyed our lunch prior to seeing a show at City Center. The pasta was yummy and the pizza was good as well. From a price standpoint, I suppose it's fairly reasonable for the area but I must say that it ended up being more than I anticipated - about $30 per person when all was said and done."

  • "We come to NY 6-8 times a year for business. Thanks to Pizzarte we add pleasure to our itinerary. The choices are wonderful and the pizza is authentic and delicious. This particular trip, we visited on 2 back to back evenings because our first dinner was spectacular. Grilled calamari Wow! Melanzane appetizer Wow! The Boscaiola pizza day 1 and Rustichella day 2 defy description! Crust-crust-crust-the key to pizza were mmmmmm. Artichoke arugula salad great! And as Tony or Stanley might say from the "Big Night" we followed pizza with pasta like true Philistines :-). And to add further "injury" to our evening, the ricotta cheese cake was divinely delectable. The entire experience was a food odyssey of the highest degree."

  • "The staff at this restaurant needs an attitude adjustment big time. I showed up late for my reservation (which I called to let them know. They said fine). When I finally was able to get there due to traffic conditions (bumper to bumper in a taxi), they refused to seat us!!!! They said they tried to call me on my phone a few times, which was not true. My phone indicates missed calls and there was none. Needless to say, they did not honor my reservation!!!!!!"

  • "My friend and I wanted to grab a quick early dinner before attending a jazz concert at 59E59. I made a reservation at PizzArte, about which I knew nothing, based primarily on its location fairly near the theater. The pizza and salad were fresh and bursting with flavor. The service was quick and friendly. I plan to return whenever I'm in the neighborhood."
