Diner Reviews
  • "Terrific food and very helpful staff. A great place to go before City Center."

  • "Came here for lunch with my teenage kids pre show. They wanted pizza and I wanted upscale NYC cuisine and service - PizzArt delivered! The salads and pizzas were top notch and service very elegant. Wish they would have gown my son butter for the bread when he asked but other wise everything was very nice."

  • "Hard to tell it's even gluten-free. Would like to know their recipe."

  • "Authentic Italian food. Servers engage you right away speaking Italian. Definitely coming back."

  • "Awesome Italian pizza and service. Do go! And this comes from someone who lived 29 years in Sao Paulo :)"

  • "Restaurant is listed as "kid friendly" but I wouldn't put it in that category. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food was fantastic, but it didn't feel like a place to take rambunctious children."

  • "This neighborhood Italian restaurant was less than a block from our luxury hotel. The ambience was modern and sophisticated yet very comfortable. Our server had a thick Italian accent and was charming and helpful. We ordered a bowl of minestrone, a specialty salad and a pizza to share. The food was excellent! Service was not consistent, however. We were given prompt attention when we first arrived, but as we finished eating and were waiting for dessert menus, we noticed our server was sitting nearby, eating his own meal and completely ignoring us. Eventually we had dessert and coffee and then had to wait quite a while to receive our check."

  • "Perfect crust! Fresh ingredients, perfect seasoning."

  • "We had pizza here and it is really outstanding. Nicely charred from the wood oven and with great toppings. However service was distraught and we were not asked about drinks when we got the menu and we didn't receive any bread. The servers were uninterested and seemed over-worked. Let's hope this was a bad day. We'd go again for the pizza though!"

  • "This place really has amazing pizza. I bring co-workers and clients all the time and we've never had a bad meal. Service can be a bit slow at times and the servers can be forgetful - they are always apologetic when anything is mentioned."

  • "If you're looking for authentic Napoletan pizza, PizzArte is authentic as they get. Chewy crust, great quality toppings. Don't miss out."

  • "We ate here with 5 adults,a a 6 year old and infant. It's not easy to find a fairly priced dinner in the West 50's in New York City, especially one that accommodates the food preferences of a group like ours. PizzArte was a great choice as it offers pizza as well as a number of other foods at a cost that doesn't empty your wallet. While only one person, who had a pasta dish, raved about his/her meal, everyone else was satisfied with their order."

  • "It's a good respite from shopping on Fifth Avenue or a busy weekday lunch. The restaurant has pleasant decor and service and the food is adequate. Some dishes are even good. But it's not the haven of gourmet food some reviewers would have you believe."

  • "Ended up here after a visit to MOMA. Food was very good and service was very friendly. We had the calamari to start, portion was huge, and pizza and risotto as mains. Both were good."

  • "We had a very enjoyable pre-theater dinner at this modern and welcoming spot. We started with the salumi & formaggi, which was pretty good, but nothing special. The insalata di frutti di mare on the other hand was fantastic. The octopus and cuttlefish were super fresh and tender and simply prepared to take advantage of those facts. We followed with some pizzas, which were expertly cooked with a nice blister to the light and chewy crust - don't miss the Tartufata, which is redolent of black truffle. The service was prompt and attentive without being over present. Well Done!"

  • "The pizza here is excellent - the dough is very fluffy and light, and there are some creative toppings (e.g. brussel sprouts, butternut squash) without the menu going over the top. It's pricey and the service is very matter-of-fact, but an enjoyable meal because of the food."

  • "Wow - what a gem to find in this Midtown area full of seedy bars and oversized middle of the road dining options. I have been staying in Midtown for the past three years and just found this amazing Napoli style pizza restaurant. The menu is full of amazing sounding pastas and appetizers but I went for a salad and pizza and was not disappointed! I was alone so I ate at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and friendly. He spoke fluent Italian as did 50% of the others around me, so this says something about the quality of the food and ambiance. What a great find - I will definitely be back! "

  • "The food is excellent, but the wait times and the confusion of the staff make it not-so-excellent. We waited 15 minutes to be seated (with a reservation!) and each of our courses -- appetizers, pastas, then desserts took a half hour to come. The dinner, I understand, but a half hour for a plate of sausage and cheese for the appetizer, and also a half hour for ice cream? REALLY? The staff, all of them -- hostess, waiters, and busboys -- seemed confused and hesitant, like they had just been hired. The food is good, but it is quite expensive for such a weird experience."

  • "Very much enjoyed our experience at PizzaArte. The food is wonderful and the service was very attentive. We tried both pizza and pasta - all delicious and the pasta is home made, Will definitely return next time I am in New York."

  • "I met up with some out of town friends for lunch. We each ordered something different - pizza, pasta, fish, salad. We were on a limited schedule and were served promptly. My friends loved their food. I liked my gnocchi, although it seemed to have cooled down a bit too much before it got to the table. Our waiter was friendly."

  • "Simple pizza, pasta and risotto all served well. Its like Italy moved to midtown. Try the eggplant or zucchini sides. They are wonderful."

  • "I chose this restaurant for their Gluten Free pizza, it was delicious. I've tasted a lot of GF pizza and this was by far the best GF crust so far. No problems, I plan on returning!"

  • "Chewy and soft like delicious bread dough, but thin enough to not be overly filling. Authentic Italian atmosphere. Will return!"

  • "Was surprised to find the place had been renovated. Missed the old place and the great lobster pizza. Anyway, the hostess was friendly. We had to wait for a few minutes and directed to a coat rack in the back. The bar downstairs was all seats occupied, but not too loud. Then we were escorted to our table upstairs. The place was full, and the noise level was higher than downstairs. The art works were colorful and great to admire while waiting for food. Food was OK. Pizza was good. Service was a bit slow since the place was crowded."

  • "we had just returned from 6 weeks in italy and were reluctant to even try an italian restaurant but this one was very good indeed. my salad of carcoifi and rocket was just like being in Rome my husbands carbanora was perfect and our guests loved their salads and the calamari fritti which we shared was perfecto"

  • "I have walked past this restaurant many times but this was the first time we ate there. I found it solely through Open Table, looking for a reasonably priced restaurant near City Center. We could not have been more pleased. The upstairs dining room was quiet enough to have a conversation and yet full of families and groups on a recent Friday night. The food was delicious, the service excellent. How delightful, also, to be in an Italian restaurant that was really Neapolitan. The entire staff and owners introduced themselves and were warm and friendly. I almost hate to give such a good review, wanting to keep the restaurant for myself, but it deserves the attention. Thank you, PizzArte, for a memorable dinner. We'll be back. Ciao!!"

  • "Third time in N.Y.C. and the staff was fantastic. We were treaded like kings and queens and the food was amazing. Food looked great in front of you and we were looked after by the maître d. Great place for a lunch and we will be back for sure next time in N.Y."

  • "We ate upstairs and the room was bright and cheerful--the many paintings interesting to look at. The service was pretty dismal, forgetful, odd, rude. The busboy scolded my husband for not noticing he was waiting to refill the water glass my husband was drinking from. Pizza toppings were fine, but the crust is not good, very soft and puffed up--until 30 seconds after arriving at the table it starts to deflate. No plain side salad to go with pizza. Who needs more cheese or meat in salad next to pizza with cheese and/or meat? Will not be back."

  • "The food was artistc and delicious. The octopus appetizer was served shaved in a lovely vinaigrette that mimicked an abstract painting! The veal and prosciutto stuffed ravioli was the special and it was delicate and savory. The pizzas are not heavy and topped with interesting combinations of cheeses and accoutrements. Our children are 10 & 16 and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and were treated respectfully by the waiters. There were two other families with much younger childrenin our area and they all had no problem ordering and feeding them from the menu. The ambiance is that of eating beautiful food in an art gallery but its not stuffy at all. Highly recommend eating here!"

  • "Over all the place is nice, and clean. The salads are great and the Tartufata pizza (sp?) was great but the margarita pizza needs some work. The complementary olives are amazing."

  • "This is a great choice for pre-theater dinner near City Center. The homemade whole wheat pasta was delicious, and everything we saw come out of the kitchen, including the pizzas, looked like something we'd have to try on subsequent visits. This is much more than a pizzeria with many pasta, risotto and other appetizer and main course options. Service was very friendly and attentive in the upstairs dining area."

  • "we often go to pixxarte when we are going to City Center and it is also convenient when peopl from all over the city are converging. the artichoke salad was delicious as was the rich veal and cheese ravioli. PIzzas were good if a bit underdone. Food prices are reasonable for the neighborhood."

  • "We tried this restaurant because our first choice was booked. Our party of six was thrilled with the quality of the food. The pastas were home made and cooked al dente with flavorful sauces. The pizza appetizer was delicious. Salads were all fresh and dressed with just the right amount of dressing. The grilled calamari salad with thinly sliced artichokes was excellent. The sirloin steak was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The artwork was a nice touch and conversation piece."

  • "I had a lovely meal, the food was absolutely delicious but the service was jarring. I have never felt so rushed to eat my meal in a very long while and was quite surprised at this considering it was an italian restaurant, with other families and tables with more people than the group I had with me. Everything, absolutely everything else was fantastic but the waiting staff and customer service was not good at all, at all."

  • "We had a really fun and delicious meal here for our first night in NYC. It was quite energetic, so a bit hard to converse for our group of 5, but exciting nonetheless. The only difficulty was that our open table reservation was apparently nonexistent. Luckily they had plenty of space when we arrived. I did not followup with the hostess about that, so perhaps it was found eventually. I had received 2 confirmations via email, so I know it was in the system. It might be worth a phone call to confirm with an actual person."
