A word from Pizza Pura
The mission of Pizza Pura is to respect the history of pizza by implementing the original methods of pizza preparation dating to the 1800"s in Naples, Italy. We use a Neapolitan template and apply local and seasonal produce and meats to our wood-fired oven. This is complimented by our house made small batch gelato.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "There are a few great wood-fired brick oven pizza restaurants in AVL but we return to Pizza Pura more so than the others. Not sure why but there is a difference in their crust that we just dont seem to find in others. And their homemade Gelato is a must to try."

  • "This was our first time in Asheville. We picked the restaurant because of Open Table reviews. Food was different and great."

  • "Pizza Pura's colorful wood fired oven puts out great pizza. The pizza chef/owner has got the temperature down correctly so the pizzas are lovely bubbly masterpieces. Fresh toppings such as house made sausage & mozzarella. Even a cheese less pie if that's what you want. I never take any home. The salads are also a good start to the meal. Fresh local greens & great vinaigrette dressing not over done. My son loves the Kumato tomato salad with fresh mozzarella, balsamic & pepperoni chips. The staff is friendly and efficient. I wish it was in my neighborhood, but worth the 10 minute drive."

  • "The menu is short but includes great choices. The caprese salad with homemade mozzarella was very tasty. My pizza with homemade sausage was yummy. No room for dessert."

  • "Celebrated a family birthday here and everyone from ages 4 to 70+ was happy. It goes without saying that the pizza is wonderful - fabulous crust and super creative toppings. The new procuitto wrapped cheese appetizer was a huge hit. Don't miss this place. Wish it was open for lunch."

  • "I've come here with my girlfriend three times now and this place has only gotten better. The food is excellent, and so is the service. The most recent time I was there a waitress brought out hot pepper oil for us to try on our pizza... wow. A great addition. I never really review restaurants, but I figured I may as well toss in my two cents about PIzza Pura because I recently came to the conclusion this is my favorite pizza place in the Asheville area."

  • "I am not a pizza junkie and was plus minus on going to this resturant, but they changed my mind. The pizzas were intavative and delicious . The mushroom pizza was unusual and do rich! The crust was light, non greasy and I could have had it just by itself! Great salads. Service was fast and attentive , not a lot of ambiance and it does feel crowded . But...... I will come again and again!"

  • "Wow! A real gourmet pizza place in Asheville. Down by the river this is a welcome addition to the dining scene. Located in an abandoned warehouse along with other businesses, the space is small and cozy, the staff friendly and the decor perfect for a pizza setting. The menu is devoted to pizzas--red and specialty cooked in a wood burning oven. The space is rather small and reservations can be helpful. Our server was delightful (originally from Germany), helpful and knowledgeable about the various choices. Although described as personal size pizzas they are 12 inch and more than enough for 1 (some might want to share one). The Cannelloni dessert was delicious. Pizzas are the main attraction and they are worth it!"

  • "A perfect foodie experience isn't just about food. Pizza Pura offers the complete experience. From a comfortable and lively atmosphere, to top notched attentive servers, to simple but perfect wine choices, the best artisan pizza with AMAZING combinations and ingredients, CANOLIS not like you have ever had and top it off with the perfect espresso. It is my favorite weekly date with my husband."

  • "Hands down the best Neapolitan pizza in town. We had the Fig and Pig, and a tomato based pizza with olives and soppressata. Both were delicious, with a perfect crust, great sauce flavor, and just the right amount of toppings so as not to be heavy or cloying. Their crust and wood firing really makes for a great pizza. The chocolate cannoli we had for dessert were delicious. Kitchen staff interacted with us during the meal, and the atmosphere was laid back and casual. Wait staff was awesome, courteous, and prompt. We will be back next time we are in the mood for great pizza!"

  • "Great pizza and salad! Everything tastes fresh and although there were several families in the small space, they seated two of us at a back table where we could easily talk. The service was excellent and I can't wait to try it again!"

  • "Great pizza and salad, pricey but worth it. $60 for 2 pizzas, 2 salads, and 4 glasses of wine. The ambiance is questionable with fluorescent lighting, but the pizza is so damned good I'll go again."

  • "We tried the fig and pig, a more standard pizza, and the special which had a squash purée, bacon, cranberries, gorgonzola. They were all absolutely delicious!"

  • "It's short on ambience, but Pizza Pura serves very good pizza made in a wood-burning oven. They use fresh local ingredients, San Marzano tomatoes (the best) for their sauce and fine imported cheeses and meats, all of which contributes to the authentic Neopolitan pizza taste. The prosciutto and arugula pizza was especially good. In season, the caprese salad is also excellent. The crispy salami chips they use to garnish it were a special treat."
