There are many other fine steak houses in the Twin Cities that offer the same excellent food without the sticker shock. The mashed potatoes came to us fully loaded as promised but were tepid at best and our waiter checked back with us only once to see if all was ok. Their sides are very large, so always make sure to share with at least 1-2 people. The waiter seemed to forget about us from time to time and messed up our drink order multiple times, but overall decent service. Always the go-to spot for special occasions. Sat down, got a beverage, was greeted by the most cheerful and pleasant server. He explained everything so well and always made sure we were enjoying our food and wine once we received them. Pittsburgh Blue is definitely something I will be recommending to family and friends. Yes it was busy because it was Friday, but due to the amazing atmosphere, you didn't notice how busy it was. I give this restaurant two thumbs up! We were seated in a booth, which would not have been my preference. With handbags and shopping bags was a bit crowded. It was, however, somewhat private for conversation as the restaurant was not crowded, probably due to the holiday weekend.The food, once again, was very very good, but the lunch menu prices are higher than most similar restaurants and the cheapest glass of wine is $10.
Service was adequate but not special. The one glaring service failure was that two of my friends decided to split an entrée, but it arrived on one plate and they had to ask for an empty plate and transfer half of the food themselves. It should have been split in the kitchen before serving. Each visit has been excellent. The food is superb and the atmosphere great!!! The noise level, even when there are greater numbers in the restaurant, is low. The seating arrangement lends itself to a sense of privacy and comfort. Staff are appropriately attentive, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The shrimp and grits was outstanding and would do again. The grits were firm (more like a polenta) and the steak was excellent - however, I expected more blue cheese in the blue cheese has browns (flavor was VERY mild).

Great seasonings and tender! The family style sides were the right amount and a great way to serve them. The service was extraordinary and definitely made the evening more special. It is a great restaurant that has great food and service. It isn't as pricey as a Manny's or Kincaid's but the food quality is great. Don't get me wrong, manny's is an excellent restaurant, but the food at Pittsburgh Blue is the best outside of downtown Minneapolis. On Sunday lunch they have a Hangover burger that is excellent. When we have been there for dinner, pretty much anything is great. We like their calamari for an appetizer. The first steak on my salad was mostly fat & chewy - had to send back which the server graciously did. The second one was too rare (medium rare when I requested medium) and also fatty. Not impressed. Neither of us had ever been here, or even heard of this place for that matter. The atmosphere was quite inviting. I was pleased to see a huge variety of diners. Our server was a peach. She was friendly and knowledgable and made absolutely every effort to make sure that it was a pleasant experience for us.
