Diner Reviews
  • "Noise is a big much. My ears were ringing when I left."

  • " Best Peruvian food around! My husband and I love going to Pio Pio's. The ambiance is great, the food is great, and you must have a Pisco Sour!"

  • "Had a good time. Bartenders and wait staff were friendly and accomodating. They could use just a little more refining in terms of resetting table and utensils. For example, they cleared our table numerous times, and they kept forgetting to give us back eating utensils for next courses. Again though, the mistake is made up for with their friendliness. Food was great; large portions! If you're a petite group, you can get away with ordering a couple dishes, family style. It's LOUD here. If you're an extreme introvert, this will be a tough place for you unless you eat upstairs or outside."

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed our pre theater dinner at Pio Pio. It is a Peruvian restaurant on !0 th Ave near 44th st . The restaurant features rotisserie chicken and ceviche. The prices are reasonable, especially for Manhattan ! Service was excellent! We went home with leftovers of the juicy chicken ."

  • "Pio Pio is known for their chicken but at this sit down spot in Hell's Kitchen, which is less divey, I love ordering the seafood. The ceviche and anything and everything from their entree menu is delicious. We dd not order any appetizers, but we did order a few pitchers of sangria. Not THE BEST, but definitely worth trying. We were a table of ten and it took a while for them to get tables ready even with reservations made ahead of time (about 40 min wait). I do not recommend it for big groups as it seemed like they had difficulty catering to them. Waiter spilled water on one of our guests' dish, but the restaurant served another plate of it immediately. It seemed more appropriate for a romantic dinner for two or a fun girls night (of four)."

  • "Web have been to Pio PIo several times and the outcome is the same: good food, good service, good prices!"

  • "This place was a find . I followed the recommendations of fellow reviewers and I confirm their positive reviews. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much, there being a few tables outside, a bar and some more tables inside on the main floor. But then, there is a wide open staircase that takes you down to a large open room with many tables, a clever use of basement space. The service is very attentive, and the food is excellent. The portions are ample. We would definitely go back."

  • "The food was delicious! We went to celebrate a birthday and the service was friendly, food was great and ambiance is nice. This is my third time eating at Pio Pio in Hell's Kitchen. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good food at a reasonable price in the city :)"

  • "This was my second time at Pio Pio in HK. The food and the ambiance was great as usual. We have the same waiter as last time, very inattentive and very slow among others we observed. Also, the hostess in the front was yelling at each other in front of 20people while we were waiting to be seated. Such a beautiful place and location, only thing is customer service need serious work."

  • "The chicken is yummy. Very noisy and the service fair. We will return though"

  • "We loved the vibe of the place & the food was OUTSTANDING...took a while to come out of the kitchen, being that it was early (11:30am), but it was worth the wait!!"

  • "The restaurant itself has very delicious food and festive attractive atmosphere. noise level kept us from interacting with our friends AND the wait staff! Some sides seemed overpriced for what they were--but overall value for the meal was excellent."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The food is great with large portions. You can order one appetizer and one entree to share between two and go home with huge leftovers. The chicken is very tender, meat comes right off the bones. The appetizer (stuffed pepper with meat and cheese inside) was amazing."

  • "Don't think I ever had Peruvian food before, but it did not disappoint. Situated in a vibrant Hell's Kicthen area, you walk through past the bar and down into the main area. It was a little dark which was a shame on such a lovely Summer's evening, but there was nothing else to complain about. The food was excellent as was the service and we were out in plenty of time to get to our Broadway show. By the time we left, the place was packed. Recommended!"

  • "This place is great. But asks your guests to arrive 15-20 min before the actual reservation time because they do not seat you at table until all guests have arrived. We sat upstairs so it wasn't as noisy but the banquet was hot. The food is delish and fresh. Make sure you ask what part of animal some of the meat is from or stick with the fish all great even the rice and beans very flavorful and lite. Paella delish, and shrimp amazing sangria wonderful. We asked if we could get round table but were told it was reserved for more people than our group of 7. When they finally seated that table there were only 4-5... But overall the wait service was very good and timely to handle each course. A very fun place for birthday celebration."

  • "I must first say that we visited during "World Cup" time. The servers are from soccer countries so the TV level and cheering was very energetic and loud. Perhaps I should say authentic. This is the 2nd time I've eaten there and I don't return to bad places. The food is good and affordable and being so close to New York's theater district, that's very good!! I don't want to have a "foodie" dinner there but it's the best and most affordable lunch and dinner that I've had when going to the theater in New York. BTW, the chicken is a whole chicken so think about sharing it with your dining partner and getting a few of the delicious sided that's on the menu. Deserts good too."

  • "Beautiful space - as many comment it is much bigger than you might expect. The decor is stunning! And the food - delish! The Matador is my favorite! Great food and good drinks as well. I have been twice and loved it each time! Will definitely be back again!"

  • "I visited here once before and loved the food so much I brought 4 of my co workers that were visiting the NYC area and they also loved. I think this place is on my top 10 list when I come into work near here. They are reasonably priced and love the food. This was a great find and I will visit again."

  • "The food is amazing and the quality is consistent and well priced. This location is very big but still feel intimate. The service is excellent and waitstaff very knowledgable and friendly. Can easily accommodate large groups! "

  • "My family has been going to Pio-Pio since it was a cramped little spot in Queens. The food is delicious and plentiful! We ordered 2 meals for 3 people and had plenty to take home! Best bang for your buck is the Matador Chicken platter. So.Much.Food! The service at this location was phenomenal! They were very attentive and fast! "

  • "Juanita"s chicken (their signature dish) was tender & delicious. Wish it came with a couple of sides. Can be a little noisy which makes it difficult to hear the person sitting directly across from you. Good for groups or parties of 4 or more."

  • "Chose this place for post graduation lunch with family. Perfect spot for groups and the food really good."

  • "Food is great. Portions are generous. Service is always slow however. Water is always filled but servers don't make rounds. Both times didn't check how our food was or ask if we wanted more drinks. "

  • "This restaurant has a few tables outside, a large bar and upstairs seating, as well as a huge basement level area for seating. The basement area is the main sell with low-lighting, branches covering the ceiling and a noisy/party-like atmosphere. The food was all good, but to be honest rotisserie chicken can only get so good. The sangria was good, and the dessert was fine. I would recommend this place to a friend, but the prices are a little high for a place on 10th Ave."

  • "Very nice food (Chicken & Sea food)!! And nice ambience!! And server was very kind. But little dark and small table. I was satisfied on last Sunday."

  • "I really loved pio pio! It was my first time there with a friend and everything was outstanding! Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience and all the staff was friendly and helpful! The food was delicious too! Some advice when going, some prices might be high but portions are big enough to share with two people! Loved this place it's a true gem and will be back and will recommend everyone to go there! Thanks again for a special night!"

  • "Overall great, but I hope that we could've changed seats, because I went there for my boyfriends birthday, was hoping to sit downstairs. However, we were told that once we sat down, we can't move seats, it's a little disappointing because I booked the reservation because of the downstairs view, it was our first time there, so I didn't know where the stone view was. But overall, food is great and service was nice too."

  • "I live on the Upper East Side and have frequented a much smaller version of Pio Pio on First Avenue with a delicious but limited menu of chicken and sides. However, the Hell's Kitchen location which is by far much bigger with 2 floors offers a much larger and beyond delicious menu. Run don't walk to this gem!"
