As a food lover, I always scour a variety of online reviews when I'm in a different city. In Montreal it was a combination of Google searches that brought Pintxo (pronounced Peentcho) to my attention as a good place to eat. The corner house on a quiet residential street it sits demurely inviting. I arrived to a full dining room to the left, the maitre'd asked if I minded dining alone in the other dining room...I did not and was sat at a table looking out onto the sleepy street. I decided to have the degustation and asked the server to recommend glasses to accompany. A lovely crisp apple cava started me off as the first plate arrived with three tastes: a white asparagus soup; a salmon and yellow beet tartare; foie gras on a croustille and warm bread. The first plate was delicious. The next offering was a half lobster tailed seared and served atop grilled fennel and fesh arugula with a dill vinaigrette yummy and paied with a crisp white from the douro. The main course was a perfectly griiled med/rare filet mignon, sauteed vegetables and an arugula salad corraled by long thin slices of carrot. A beautiful presentation and very satisfying. This was paired with a monster tempranillo that was great tto the last drop. The dessert was a warm almond tart with a sticky sweet sauce that was reminiscent of sticky toffee although more refined. An espresso and a 20 year old Torres brandy completed the meal and I was replete. The service was excellent, attentive and smart. I absolutely recommend Pintxo.

Came here for my daughter's birthday and the four of us shared double orders of 10 Pintxos (which was probably one more than we needed). Service was perfect, and the hostess was deeply knowledgable about the unusual and extensive (mostly Spanish) wine list. Standouts were the stuffed fig, the scallop (with a perfect sear on the outside and a creamy sashimi-like interior) tender beef cheeks that tasted like they'd been braised in a mixture of joy and contentment for about 75 years, stuffed calamari, and grilled octopus with crumbled chorizo that, well....I still can't talk about it. It's too soon. Oh, and Smoked duck tartar was wild and amazing. The bison rib, while delicious, was a little too rich for me, but I think that had more to do with it being the 10th course than it did with the actual preparation of the dish. This is an amazing restaurant that I hope to return to, the next time I'm in Montreal. I have yet to find tapas in NYC that comes close.

I have wanted to go here for some time and Montreal a Table gave me the chance to eat relatively cheaply. My worry was that a table d'hote menu might be mediocre and the courses rushed but this was not so. The meal was fabulous and the service impeccable. I highly recommend it.

We decided to have multiple pintxos and were very impressed with the quality of each one we chose! They were all delicious. I took my mum for her 70th birthday, which she had come here for, from London UK , and she was not disappointed. We lived in Spain for quite a few years, so I can say with confidence that it lived up to our high expectations! We will definitely be returning, often!

I went with my sister as a part of the MTL à Table festival and we just loved it! First off, this was one of the few participating restos that made their festival menu easy to find, and given that it was a cuisine that isn't found everywhere, it was an easy choice and one we did not regret. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and really nicely decorated. Staff is friendly, service is on point and the food was just fantastic! We had a brilliant 3 course dinner for just $39 each (wine extra) and our server was knowledgeable in helping us select a wine for the entire meal. Honestly, I look forward to going back (hopefully with a date). Well done Pintxo!

I just had a dinner with my wife a few days ago for the open table event. The dinning room is not big and it's quite crowded after 7:00pm. The four chef's chosen Pintox are ok, I like the cold foie gras. However, me and my wife do not like the main courses. The portion is so small and the dishes are very salty, there is even no vegetable in my main course. The service is ok, the waitress is quite nice. But you have to wait for a quite long time to get your water filled.

I thoroughly enjoyed the price fixed menu for Restaurant Week. My husband and I chose one of each. I particularly enjoyed the octopus salad. It was beyond excellent. I thought the black olives on the Arctic Char an inappropriate choice as the olives overpowered the taste of the fish. The desserts alone are worth coming back for. We intend to go back and try some of the Pinchos at Pinxto!!

This was our 2nd visit and we were as excited about the approach and the quality of food as the 1st time. Love the fact that the pintxos are small and a good price point. That's how tapas/pintxos should be. Also very accommodating in terms of food intolerences. Excellent bread as well.

While Pintxos' dishes are closer to tapas than actual Spanish pinchos (we know, we've been there), these small dishes they serve were simply delicious. My spouse and share had eight different dishes in all, and every single one of them was terrific. Special mention to the mushroom and snail stew and the stuffed calamari. A nice, cozy night out in the heart of the Plateau.

Went to Pintxo with my husband who is quite reluctant to try something different when it comes to food. He loved everything we ordered. We started with the seared scallop, unsalted cod tortilla, both were amazing. We also had rice croquettes, braised beef cheeks, and garlic prawns...all I can say is yum! We absolutely loved it. Will definitely go back.

the tapas are very good, if somewhat small- if you are a group of four and want to taste everything order two of each. My only criticism is that this food is meant to be eaten with bread- lots of yummy sauces and juices, but the small hard whole wheat buns they provide aren't the best for this.

We split a half carafe of rioja and ordered 6 pintxos, along with an individual salad and strawberry gazpacho. The arugula salad was great, but the gazpacho a bit sweet for our taste. But the pintxos . . . snails, octopus, shrimp oh my! The scallop was particularly good. A great meal of unique tastes and textures. Don't be afraid to try something unusual.

My husband and I were visiting Montreal for the thanksgiving weekend and decided to check out this restuarants..... It is a tapas style so you order small plates. We ordered 9 between the 2 of us. However we were only served 1 plate every 15 minutes!!!!! The food is average. Nothing special for tapas. While ordering I asked the waitress if she recommended the asparagus dish. She responded "well asapargus are not in season right now, so if you like your asparagus out of a can then you may". After that response I of course did not order the aspAraus, but was now questioning the other ingredients on the menu! Don't waste a dinner in Montreal on this place. You will be disappointed.

Great for couples, wonderful service. Shared 10 tapas, for 2 people and a bottle of wine, came out to a little over a 100 each including tip. As for the food, was a hit and miss. Hits were great though, none of the dishes we had were a perfect 10. The restaurant is split, a more 'intimate' section, the other for larger groups. Not the best tapas in Montreal but overall a good find.

We were a group of 6 and ordered 9 pintxos to share. Our favorites were the Boudin aux pommes, morue et sauce vierge, pieuvre grille et chorizo, pieuvre farci and the cotelette de cerf. The feuillete de tomate et fromage de chevre and the salade de maquereau were solid bets. However, some like the carpaccio de wapiti and the tartare de canard fume were a bit bland and left us indifferent. We also asked for a wine that would be suitable for our choices of pintxos and the waitress did great (grenache and tempranillo blend) Service was a little slow and a bit absent-minded (e.g. they brought out the olive oil, but not the bread). They did take the time to explain what the pintxo were as they came out and that was appreciated.

We shared 9 pintxos between the two of us. While most were refined and flavorful (the duck tartare and the mackerel special were to die for), others like the oyster tempura were forgettable. The low point was the dessert. My berry tart was overly sweet and lacked subtlety, and the poached pear was hard as a rock. After asking a waiter about it, he told us that this was perfectly normal, and brought us a steak knife. Yes, a steak knife to eat a poached pear; and yes, the steak knife was necessary. We stated that poached pears should not be hard, but he insisted it was normal. When the bill arrived, we weren't charged for it, but we felt their denial and dismissal of our complaint was condescending. We'd still recommend going for the pintxos.

A great place for foodies that truly prefer taste over amount because the portions are quite small but the flavours are really wonderful. The overall ambiance is quite nice but the restaurant fills up very fast and the noise level is moderate. The menu degustation for 38$ is a good value because it allows you to try 4 tapas (chef’s choice) and one main dish of your choice. A nice place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.
