Casoulet was excellent . Beet salad was very good as was the escargot. Good wine list with a mix of moderate and pricey vintages. Service was good , but bartender needs to learn french cocktails like kir Royale... didn't know what Pastis was.

Have had dinner here a few times and it is always good. For appetizers the frog legs and the bouillabaisse and for entrees the duck breast. The menu is quite small and needs to change more often with the seasons.

In the Westin hotel, parking was easy just pulling up at the entrance and the valet took the car. Parking is $6 with validation in the restaurant. Having recently eaten at Scott's which was noisy to the point it was very hard to talk, Pinot Provence was elegant from entrance to table and conducive to conversation. Jonathan came promptly and asked if we had a show deadline, which we did. The bar did not have my wife's gin so she changing to scotch and the drink that came was probably not what was ordered. The wine by the glass list was very good and close to excellent. Wines by the glass are poured at the table so tasting for preference is possible. The meal was very tasty but worked hard to stand out. Onion soup was very hot, good, with plenty of onions and cheese. Sherry was evident making for a sweet-type soup. The frogs legs were braised with red-wine sauce and some diced veggies - only a few. Again, very tasty but frog legs are good on their own and the preparation was more noticeable than the taste of the frogs legs. The mussels were excellent but very good sized. My wife raved about them even the next day as some of the best she has had. The cassoulet was made with a fresh lamb loin and cooked to taste - not you usual stew simmering on the back of the stove for days. Again, the taste was very good but different than might be found in a french bistro. Various folks brought out the dishes from the kitchen as each course came together. The meal was very pleasant and not rushed by we had plenty of time for dessert. Reflecting the next day, the experience is probably one of the best if attending a Segerstrom performance - quiet, good food, pleasant surrounding and excellent service.

  • 3 reasons we come here often

We come to Pinot Provence for 3 reasons: 1) As season ticket holders for the Jazz Club events, the restaurant is one of a handful of good places to eat within walking distance of the theater. Also the valet will keep your car in one place for dining and show. 2) No corkage fee. I always bring one or two from home and love saving the fees. 3) The food really is great. Every course we've had here (and we've dined here at least 2 dozen times) has been excellent. My only disappointment has been that the service is often mediocre. Several of the wait staff score low in personality. Our most recent visit was a nice exception. He was very good and we enjoyed his company and advice and he enjoyed some of our wines.. Please find a way to bring back fois gras to California! We used to order whatever version the chef was making, every time we came.

Had an elegant brunch outside near the fountain before going to a matinee at Sergerstrom. The food was amazing and the unlimited Mimosa add-on can't be beat! The "appetizer" courses for brunch were such large portions that they could have been entrees. All delicious, but the star of the show for us was the short rib hash--heavenly! The only thing that could have improved our experience is more frequent refills of coffee (or maybe bigger cups?). Pinot Provence is the PERFECT place to dine, relax and unwind after driving to Costa Mesa before enjoying a show nearby.

Although the service was good, my wife and I were a bit disappointed with the food. Nothing was bad, but everything was just average. That being said, the prices were too high for the food. My wife and I travel a lot and are regular diners at various restaurants around the country. As such, we were hoping for French food that was more innovative, not the typical standard dishes. We had escargot, bouillabaisse, cassoulet, duck breast, mac n cheese, and brussels sprouts. Perhaps the worst mac n cheese and brussels sprouts I've ever eaten. Mac n cheese was bland and tasted like pasta with milk poured over it. Sprouts were very bland as if they were simply boiled and cut in half.

My husband and I had not dined at Pinot Provence for several years - the service and the food had just gone downhill. After receiving an email showing some of the fall specials offered at the restaurant, we decided to return for dinner. What a pleasant surprise!!! The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The waiter offered helpful advice regarding wine and its pairing with our meals. Our evening was relaxing and quite enjoyable. We will return!

Had dinner at Pinot Provence this past Saturday. Everything was great & the service was amazing. Starting with the bartender who made me this great drink called a Natasha. Excellent! Our food was well-prepared and well-presented. Not an inexpensive choice for a meal; worth the expense. One negative - we weren't thrilled with the Strawberry-Rhubarb Cobbler - a bit too liquid in texture. Otherwise, awesome. Will be back

Pinot Provence had very few diners on a Friday night. However, the service was impecable and the food was pretty good. We had the frog legs appetizer, the filet, and the duck breast. Of the three, the duck breast was the best, but I felt like they tried too hard and missed, mixing pureed nectarine, cipollini onions, and baby eggplant. It sounded interesting, but was really bland. The steak was too well done and just boring. The food wasn't terrible, but for a restaurant that probably thinks more of itself, they missed the mark.

I'd heard mixed things about Pino Provence, some very good and some not so great, but we thought we'd give it a try. Although we got there pretty early, it was a Friday night, and we were surprised to find the place virtually empty. Any concerns that raised were wiped out immediately, as the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious: my salmon was perfect, creamy and moist inside with a lovely crispy skin outside, and my wife absolutely loved her lamb chops. Throughout the meal, our waiter and the manager were attentive and friendly, possibly some of the best service I've ever experienced. All in all, a wonderful experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We are fans of Patina group and attending a performance at Segerstrom Center, we"ll try Pinot Provence. The braised short rib was over cooked. Saturday night slow? Should have known as well traveled diners, restaurants in hotels not best choice. Interior lovely French, stone fireplace, comfortable booths, nice lighting. We love the Beatles, Aba, Journey, etc. I have never thought this music as dinner music for a French restaurant and it was loud. The service was attentive-too much. "Are we having wine this evening?" is he joining us? He forgot to decant the wine-Really Patina?

Have been coming here for several years and have always left pleased! Went on a lunch date with my husband and today was no exception. It happened to be restaurant week so we had 3 courses. I ordered the nectarine salad - delish! Next we both had the Pinot burger with some of the most delicious fries I've ever had. We ordered med-rare and it came overcooked as well as waiting quite a while for it...not very notable. What was however a surprise was that without complaining our waiter Robert noticed our wait and our over cooked burgers and comped us our meal...not expecting that! We finished with a divine chocolate molten cake. Service was great and except for the small hiccup everything was spot on...will definitely keep in rotation!

We booked for an after theatre dinner however, the show ran a little longer than scheduled so we were late for our reservation at 8:45. When we left the theatre at 9:00 to walk to the restaurant, only 5 minutes away, we had a phone message(at 8:45) saying that the restaurant would be closing at 9PM. We were staying in the hotel that the restaurant was located in and had planned this dinner for over a month so it was disappointing to find that the restaurant closed this early. The Pinot restaurants are among our favorites so we were disappointed, but, understand the decision to close at 9:00 on a Sunday evening.

Endless bloody mary's - need I say more! We have had dinner several times and its is always out favorite. The inside atmosphere is just calming and wonderful. We can't say enough good things about it. The best night would be a beautiful dinner and just walk up to a suite at the Westin. Maybe spend the next morning lounging by the pool.

Chef Alfonso Ramirez was doing a farmers market tasting menu on Thurdays. We went last Thurs. but the tasting menu wasn't available. We were disappointed but our excellent server, Jeff, asked Chef if he would do a tasting menu for us. Chef was more than happy to accommodate & I am so happy he did. We started with asparagus vichyssoise soup with cantaloupe balls & a slice of albacore. Next was loup de mer. So delicious! 3rd course was suck breast with grilled nectarines & eggplant. 4th course was rack of lamb over roasted cauliflower & pea tendrils. Dessert was panna cotta with blueberries & sliced plums. Excellent food by an excellent chef! Service was great. You should try this restaurant!

We had tickets for a show so we arrived at 5 and had a great cocktail while reading menu. On the online menu it stated that they had scallops but they were taken off the restaurant menu a month ago. Not a great selection of appetizers or dinner items. The dessert menu did not have one thing that was cholocate, who ever heard of a dessert menu without chocolate??? Our waitress was great and she knew we were unhappy and she did everything to please us. I told the manager that I was to mention to him I was with Open Table to receive extra points and he said he had no idea how to do that. We usually go to Scotts before the show and will return there next time we go to a performace at the Segerstrom Center.
