A word from Pino's Contemporary Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar
Welcome to Pino's Contemporary Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar!
Pino's is a small neighborhood eatery tucked away in Pittsburgh's popular East End neighborhood of Point Breeze. We have 19 tables and 10 seats at the comfortable bar where you will often find regulars from the neighborhood and new guests enjoying dinner and drinks. With a warm decor of Italian mosaic tabletops, rich woods and colors, Pino's is a welcoming spot where Executive Chef & Owner Joseph "Pino" Mico proves there's more to Italian cuisine than just red sauce. Here you will find a merging of creative interpretations of the Italian classics as well as Mediterranean cuisine that is thoughtful and complex.

It was my birthday. We ordered the fondue dip appetizer. It was okay and came with 6 small pita chips. Clearly the fondue to pita ratio was off. We asked for more pita and said we'd be charged for it. I ordered the Salmon. My family had pasta. Salmon came out WAY overcooked. Should have been noticed by chef immediately. I sent it back and they sent me out a new piece no problem, still wasn't right but I ate it.They were out of the pasta shape that was in the dish my mom ordered and only had 2 other shapes. What Italian place has 3 pasta shapes, or runs out of pasta. 2 choices for dessert because they already ran out of 1 last night. Received the check and nothing was comped, yet again it was my birthday. Shame, I wanted to like this place.

We have eaten here a number of times and brought friends who hadn't been to Pino's. We enjoy ordering a variety of appetizers, flatbread pizza's, salads and then sharing. Food and service were great. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

This was our first visit to Pino's. We loved the location in Point Breeze and the ability to eat outside was wonderful. We were well taken care of by the wait staff. None of us was very impressed by our meals, however. Salmon was overcooked. Pizza was too overloaded with toppings. Pasta simply wasn't great. I might try Pino's again and hope for better food.

Pino's food selection is fun. It has standard items, like flatbreads with neat twists like sweet pea pesto, prosciutto and smoked gouda! The location is adorable. The restaurant is in this tiny little main street business district of Point Breeze. Oh, and they have a frequent diner program and the food can be ordered via WheelDeliver.com, which is perfect for a night at home!

While the service was very good and the restaurant itself a lovely place; the food left much to be desired. After reading the reviews prior to dining there we were looking for a taste delight. The beans and greens were very flat flavorwise (needed a punch up of garlic). The diver scallops were good and the presentation was very nice. Our meals were just ok - my risotto was very disappointing in what was expected - two shrimp and a small piece of calamari on a red-sauce risotto. The steamed salmon with mousseline left much to be desired. While we wouldn't write this place off - I think next time I'll just have pizza and save some $$.

Loved the whole experience - wished we had not waited. Food, wine, service, and atmosphere tremendous. Enjoyed the meatball, calamari, and root veggie board apps; and multiple specials for the entrees. Will definitely be coming back. Cannot wait for the front doors/windows to open up for Spring - should be an awesome street experience.

We went here for our anniversary. We found it through the open table app. I saw Pittsburgh and assumed heart of the city and 20 mins walk to and from a parking garage. When we arrived to the GPS location, it's a cute little street in Oakland. We parked right outside the front door and our table was already set and ready for us when we walked in. The staff was very attentive and someone was always around to clear a plate or refill a drink. The only reason the food gets four stars is because I ordered a grilled chicken baby kale salad and the chicken was dry and a little burnt and the dressing and Parmesan cheese didn't mesh well. My other half got the risotto and that was amazing! We plan to go back a lot. And the italian fries are a must!!

We are from Philly and were visiting our son in Pittsburgh. A friend recommended Pino's as one place they thought was nice. We are so happy we dined there. All appetizers, entree's and desserts were simply well prepared and extremely tasty. The Bolognese Veal Sauce with Penne was the best I have ever tasted. The service was also prompt and very friendly and our waitress made us feel at home. I honestly cannot think of anything we were not pleased with. The noise level was loud but we didn't go there to pray. We will definitely dine again on return trips. If you like great food from a cozy, non-chain restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

Server didn't seam interested. She was just an order taker. Asked for recommendations and gave us generic answers. Wasn't that impressed with food either.. We got all small plates so maybe that's where we went wrong? Tables next to us got entrees they looked really good.. Would have ordered large plates but was not hungry for a heavy meal.... But small plates where below average in my opinion.. Boyfriend ordered a drink I believe it had blue coat gin, lemon cello, sage and I simple syrup.. Tasted like wood cleaner in my opinion... Not a person that usually writes bad reviews but I think owner should know to improve!

The cocktails were very short and really want seafood grilled instead of poached. . Martina's are expensive and need to be a full cocktail. Love the space but really need more quality for my money. The acoustics need to be addressed, although the service was excellent . Really love the restaurant but we need a descent cocktail for 14.00 instead of an ounce of alcohol.

We had been planning to try this restaurant for awhile and were very disappointed when we finally went. This is a trendy appearing neighborhood restaurant but very overpriced for what it offers. Cost is out of proportion to quality. Service was very slow. We waited 1/2 hour for a table even with a reservation. Once seated, food service was also slow. Food quality was average and the only item that we would consider outstanding was the tiramasu for dessert. We went with friends and noise level was so high that we could not hear them talk. In summary, ordinary restaurant with pretentions to be more than it is.

The drinks, salad and dessert were all very good. We were very dissapointed in the entree. I had the Tutti Mari which was just ok. This dish was much better when I have ordered it at other restaurants. My husband had the Rigatoni with Lamb Bolognese. Again, this dish was just ok and way over priced!! I have made this dish at home and it was far superior to the dish we were served. This is a cute place to meet for drinks, but I would not stay for dinner the next time.

We had a party of 9 on a busy Saturday night at Pino's and had a great time. The food was outstanding. We shared Italian fries and house salads for appetizers. The fried herbs on the fries were a delicious, fun twist. The salads were bright, colorful and fresh. For mains, we had the lamb chop and tagine veal features. One in our party is a chef. It has been over 20 years since I've seen him enjoy a meal in a restaurant. This was the night! Others in our party had the butternut squash ravioli and scallop/seafood pasta dish.... also very happy campers. Our server knew the menu well - both kitchen and bar. Excellent cocktails and perfect wine recommendations. Service was attentive and friendly. It was too loud for conversation. No one cared.
