Was not able to use my Open Table reservation for Pink Rose Bar and Kitchen, as they only honor reservations for 6 people or more - mine was for 4 people. Would have been nice had they not allowed to make a reservation for that number in the first place. Since I was not aware of that, we showed up and I was told that we could wait an hour to be seated outside or sit downstairs in their smelly cave that doubles as their inside restaurant. Moral of the story - DO NOT make reservations on Open Table for Pink Rose unless you have over 6 people, as they will not honor them and they will treat you like you are the idoit!

  • The food was good, but....

We went to Pink Rose after the Shamrock Run. It was a Sunday, so we expected it to be busy. We had made a reservation WEEKS in advance hoping to save ourselves the trouble of waiting for a table. We arrived slightly early for our reservation & ended up waiting over an hour to get seated.. Only after I asked how much longer we were going to have to wait was I informed that 'We actually quit taking reservations on Sundays, but it shouldn't be too much longer.'.. I find that kind of funny, considering I have a confrimation number for the reservation that I made online. If you don't take reservations on Sundays, maybe you should notate that on your website, or call us to let us know before we show up at our 'appointed time'.

We went to get our usual burgers, mine beef and hers vegetarian. Our only disappointment is that they no longer make the excellent veggie burger, replacing it with a fried green tomato. The fried green tomato is good, but not as good as the veggie burger. My hamburger was quite good and I really like the french fries. You really need to try this burger.

Pink Rose was great. When we showed up it was pretty empty. The staff let us pick where to sit. Even though we sat away from everyone else, they were very attentive. We never were waiting for a drink or our food. We only had Brussell sprouts.. but man they were amazing. I can't wait to go back.

I was really happy that the full-sized burger has returned. While the sliders were inventive, I really like the big burger. The veggie burger remains among the best in Portland, and the french fries are also very good. I really hope that food critics find this menu, as it's among the best and best values that I have had.

  • Best Small Menu Around

While the menu is relatively small, every single item that we have tried has been really delicious. From the cocktails to the burgers, the quality is very, very high. The hamburger sliders are innovative, and the veggie versions are among the best in Portland. (The pulled pork version is my favorite.) Many places in town now have a signature mac & cheese; the version at Pink Rose will easily stand among the best.

  • Odd Location though Superb Food

We had gone to the Pink Rose a couple of months ago and had a good meal, so we returned hoping that it would be consistent. The odd location is that it's mostly underground, though there is a patio above. Admittedly, the menu is larger than we ordered, as both times my spouse had the veggie burger and I had the poblano, pulled pork cheeseburger. Bother are truly notable and make the Pink Rose a true destination. At some point, we'll try other dishes, as many look good . . . though it will be hard to skip the burgers.

  • Brunch and Mimosas
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 8/26/2012
Bottomless Mimosas for $12 is a great deal for decent champagne. We had a great server who wasn't shy in pouring, so if it took a little longer than normal to refill our drinks, we were just perfect. With reservations it still took almost 20 minutes to get sat in the patio, but having said that, when my party and I got sat, we stayed for a lot longer than would be usual for that type of dining. It's nice to enjoy outside brunch, with bottomless mimosas, in the pearl district, its natural to want to enjoy Sunday Brunch--so I understand the wait. The patio area can be a little small depending on the size of the table sitting next to you and if they brought dogs. This is the place for a lazy Sunday brunch with no obligations and no where to be

The outdoor dinning is open to all the noise and abiance of downtown while the inside is dark and cramped. The low lighting would be good for a nice romantic dinner but not good for groups. The staff was a bit standoffish and food was over priced for the dish presented. The decor was interesting and unique. We were lucky to have the place mostly to ourselves. The music system was down the first half but that made for easier chatting and visiting enviroment. While the ambiance and overall experience was not bad, it was not the style of place or location that we are likley to revisit.

Given that you are walking into a "basement" it's not enticing to enter, so we were a little unsure. Even so, we were greeted pleasantly and seated. The waiter was truly outstanding, as he made good recommendations and described the dishes well. We had the brussel sprouts, which make trying Pink Rose worthwhile by themselves. We both had burgers. The veggie burger is excellent and would rival for the best in the city. The pork/poblano burger is sublime and the Fleur de Lis roll for the bun is an perfect choice. Oh, yes, the fries are suberb.

I didn't know it was possible to reserve a table outdoors (nor that it would be a nice enough day to do that), so we ended up sitting inside (which means basement.) Pink Rose is probably a great bar, but the ambiance was just not pleasant for a Sunday brunch. Kudos to the waitstaff who immediately turned down the very loud music (so loud that we couldn't talk to each other) when we asked. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive.

We had heard the food was fantastic and we were not dissapointed. Just don't be the first customers there for brunch. We arrived at opening and they were clearly not ready (the waiter walked in 5 minutes before we did). We were never offered the special (we heard it offered to others who came in after us) and had to wait 20 minutes for coffee. It came after our food. We were later told the coffee maker wasn't working but you would have thought someone would after checked that before 10 am. But again the breakfast was pretty much one of the best we have ever had so we would go there again.

We went there for Brunch on a coupon offer. The patrons were mainly 20-30 so as a retired couple we felt out of place. I do not know if he bottomless mimosas were the draw for the younger crowd that morning. A little too noisy for me. The food was very good and our server on top of her game even though there were a couple larger groups and she was working as the only server. I would recommend this as a great place for younger patrons, but probably not to some one in my age group.

In a nutshell, I was really looking forward to brunch at the Pink Rose (my first), but left disappointed. The restaurant itself is really nice. The food; good. The patio; awesome. However; our server was rude. She accused one of our party of arguing with her - when he asked for drink prices (only after requesting a drink menu and her saying she could not find one). She even went so far as to say that he was making her uncomfortable with his questions about prices. Duh! Go find a menu or ask another server. I emailed the restaurant and the proprietor called and left me a really nice message. I would go back, but would refuse to sit in the section of that same server.

Odd space, great food. It's downstairs from an Office Max store, and the outdoor dining is upstairs, directly in front of the store. The downstairs is tiny and cavelike, which might appeal in our typically rainy climate. But for dining, it looked like tables were for 2-4, and you'd be lucky to squeeze 10 people total into the bar area. Upstairs, there's not much to look at but office buildings. But the food is amazing! We loved our drinks -- a mojioto like "Last But Not Least" and a sweet version of an Old Fashioned made with honey bourbon. The chorizo-stuffed mushrooms and bacon-wrapped dates were hot and tasty, and our Painted Hills burgers were cooked to perfection.

The food was really very good, but not enough to overcome the really poor service. We ordered all of the food at once. We ordered two entrees, roasted brussel spouts to share and some bread. 10 minutes after finishing our large plates, the brussel sprouts arrived, followed by bread. Comping the brussels and bread would have helped, but didn't happen.

The food we had was actually quite good, as was the service. However, there were other issues. We ordered about 7:30 on a Saturday night and they were out of burgers, shrimp and some of the specials. The portions were quite small. Cheese platters are usually less than generous but their's for $12 was barely enough for one person. In addition, the wine list was ridiculous, only 4 or 5 choices for each category. There was not enough variety to find one we liked. If they could address these other issues I would come back for the food.
