A word from Ping Pong Dim Sum - Dupont
Serving up irresistible Dim Sum, innovative cocktails, and luxurious Chinese teas, Ping Pong Dupont is a vibrant location to enjoy Dim Sum with a twist. The cosmopolitan restaurant boasts 2 al fresco 3-season patios, a dim sum bar, expansive dining room great for large groups, and a buzzing cocktail bar with award-winning libations.

Offering a wide range of Asian treats, the sleek Ping Pong restaurants pay homage to the ancient traditions of Chinese tea houses. With a big choice of dumplings and steamed buns, the Ping Pong menu also offers an array of "big-small plates", all Chinese tapas style.

As well, there are plenty of familiar Chinese delicacies, with spring rolls, soup dumplings, and hearty dishes like our hoi sin duck bao sliders. For dessert, try Ping Pong’s roasted banana and chocolate spring roll or the ice cream filled rice pastry, mochi, and finish with a lively Ping Pong cocktail or soothing Oriental tea.

The food was great but it was pretty much just delivered to the table in piles. We ordered an entree that never came and no explanation was ever given. This was my first visit to the DuPont circle site, my experience was much better at the gallery place site!

Met a friend here and the staff informed us that their credit card machines weren't working, however they gave us updates through-out dinner and ran our cards anyway (and it worked)! The food was very tasty, I especially liked the Steamed Char Siew (HumBow) rolls although it seemed like the dim sum was a little soggy. Everyone was very friendly even when the food came out a little slowly and they didn't have the first two drinks we ordered... Overall we had a nice night and the atmosphere was great!

When I think of dim sum I think of people coming around with carts. No carts here. This was more like a regular restaurant with very small portions (3 pieces per order, usually tiny pieces). This made the overall experience a bit annoying. Food was good, but it was very expensive because you had to order at least two orders of everything to get any sort of quantity. If you are hungry, go elsewhere.

While the food was good, the service was awful! Servers only need to remember your drink order since you write down your food order but our waiter couldn't even get that right. I ordered wine and my husband ordered the Tennessee Tea. After waiting about 10 min, the waiter brought us two glass of wine (and later charged us for both) and we had to wait a while to get the correct drink. No one came by to pick up the dirty plates. My husband ordered an espresso and after waiting 15 min, he asked where it was. 10 min later the server brings out a large pot of coffee. When asked about espresso, the server responded "oh you meant the little cups? We don't have that." It took 45 min to pay for our bill after finishing dinner. Very disappointing.

I was excited to try Ping Pong with some of my friends this past weekend. Front of house was very friendly and seated us quickly. The inside of the restaurant was extremely loud so we were happy to have been placed outside to eat. Unfortunately it was windy and a bit chilly and we didn't know there were space heaters until we left! The food was excellent - especial the honey roasted chicken puff! On the downside the service was pretty terrible, after we finally figured out what to order it took forever for the first plate to come out. We ended up giving up on 2 separate plates of dumplings because of the slow service! It was pretty obvious that they needed some more servers. I will try coming back since the food was so good!

I love Ping Pong but only eat there in the summer when we can eat outside. Otherwise the inside options are for backless stools or a few uncomfortable benches (no pillows provides) along the wall. I hope Ping Pong mgt. will consider getting stools and chairs with backs so people can be comfortable. Thanks!

Took forever to have a waiter notice we were there. Took for ever for them to bring our drinks. Couldn't get the food order right. Took forever (we waited 40 mins) for them to bring the check after we asked for it. Not sure if it ever came, cause we finally just left money on the table and walked out. I won't be back.

Been to Ping Pong quite a few times. Although price is high, I kept going back because I could conveniently have dim sum any day of the week. But this last time was a disappointment, due to the "hoi sin duck bao sliders." The shredded duck was overly sweet to the point it was beyond edible. (It was like sugar was added to the already sweet hoi sin sauce in the duck.) Since it was one of the expensive dishes ($14.50 for three small baos), my companion and I tried very hard to finish them so that they didn't go to waste, but we just couldn't get them in and ended up leaving one and 2/3 of the baos on the plate. After paying our bill, we gently mentioned to the waiter that the bao was a little too sweet; his answer was, "oh, really?"

We are frequent diners to Ping Pong! Both the Chinatown and DuPont locations. Why? Because every single time we have gone since Ping Pong showed up in DC, we have always enjoyed ourselves. Dim sum is always good here; cocktails are great; prices are reasonable; nice and clean environment; good service! What else can one ask for?!? They also always offer specials - they are always trying out new and exciting dim sum treats and new cocktails and you know what? They are pretty much always unique and actually quite tasty! We love this place. Try it if you haven't yet ...not your traditional cart fatty/greasy dim sum (go to Wheaton MD or NYC for that) and if you enjoy it, sign up for their rewards program. Lots of good deals and promos.

We sat outside, where the noise level was fine--it can get a bit too loud inside. We hadn't been in a while, and were surprised to find that what had already been excellent food had gotten even better! Lots of fresh, flavorful options, both in terms of food and drink. Maybe it was being outside that made everything seem so much richer, I don't know, but we definitely won't wait so long to go back again. Bonus: the wait staff were nice and attentive, not aloof and hipper-than-thou, which seems to be a trend at DC restaurants these days.

We've been here several times and it's a great location. Brought some visitors to town and they loved the food and it's fun to share and talk about what everyone likes. The table we sat at was a little cramped and they brought out almost all of the food at the same time, so it was a little hard to negotiate. The restaurant plays loud club music, but I didn't feel like I had to shout to talk to our friends. On a Monday night, the restaurant inside was not full, so easy to get it. I love the food and will go back!

Server was very friendly and great with our kids, but the food was disappointing. We eat a lot of Dim Sum in New York and are fairly adventurous eaters. That said, we aren't all that picky about dim sum - most chinatown places meet our standards. Of the dozen or so dishes we ordered, one was really delicious (scallop and shiitake mushroom dumplings), and several were respectable. Several were genuinely unpleasant. And, it was pretty pricey for all this mostly mediocre food.

Ok, great dim sum except the calamari. Tough and inedible. Avoid it. The (very drunk) table behind us said the same thing (the whole block heard it - the 3 guys were on a goal of hitting 9 bottles of champagne). The service was good, not great, but good. The food was wonderful and well worth the "all you can eat". Surprisingly, the vegetable dumplings were our favorite! We are serious carnivores. My biggest critique would be controlling the drunks with "bottomless" champagne. While it was only one table, it really did diminish the atmosphere for the rest of us. Wow I feel old. But, for real, they had no filter and were so loud. Alas. THe food won. Great food.

I brought an out of town guest from India who is a strict vegetarian. There are many, clearly marked, vegetarian and vegan options. I am not used to being restricted in terms of diet, so I had been worried that there wouldn't be enough to choose from, but it was the opposite, and there were tons of things to choose from. Our guest was excited about the meal and enjoyed the creative takes on dumplings and other dishes. She took many pictures for her son to replicate at home, and will be taking her family to visit a Ping Pong location as soon as she can. Also the manager was very personable and gave me coupons for my next visits. Overall a great experience!

Selected this location based purely from location, menu, and OpenTable ratings. Didn't realize until I arrived that it was across the street from a favorite Sunday brunch location as well. Food was excellent. Service was good. Decor was nice and comfortable. I feel this is a 'little known spot" for lunch, because for all of the food that you get for $15 (including a beverage) one would think this space would be busier. As a fundraiser, I'm always looking for new places to do events. Think I found one...

We had been to Ping Pong many times when it opened on 7th and really enjoyed it and so I took some out of town guests to the DuPont one thinking it would be great. Meh. With all the great restaurants in town, I cannot imagine ever going back here. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good. If you just want to sit outside and have a drink, however, it's lovely.

I have never had dum sum before, and this restaurant made me want to have it every weekend! They have two special offers for brunch; $36 for unlimited food, or $36 for unlimited mimosas with 5 plates per person. A la carte ordering is also available. We had 3 people and 15 dishes was MORE than enough-- we actually didn't even order all 15! Mimosas come in mango, lychee and pomegranate and were delicious. The food was incredible and the menu was extensive, and our server was great. A must try!

Ping Pong gives off a sleek and polished feel, the restaurant is clean and the patio is looked nice. Unfortunately, like a game of ping pong, the rest of the meal bounced around from great to disappointing and everything inbetween. Half of the dishes were tasty and interesting, others were bland. Our table of six ordered a four person prix fixe and two single prix fixe, Unfortunately the dishes for the four person meal came out long before the other two peoples food, like 15 minutes before. The check left a pretty bad taste in our mouths at well over 40 bucks per person and we left still hungry, not a problem if the food we ate was spectacular, but it wasnt. Looking for dim sum, sure, try it out, but its just ok.

If you're craving dim sum, stick with the real deal. The food is mediocre, at best, and over priced for what you get - including the experience. Poor service is an understatement. My debit/credit card was swiped twice - once for the amount of the check and once for the amount of the tip. I contacted the establishment right away and the GM made several excuses, including the error was made by my bank. Never once did they accept responsibility, offer an apology for the frustration caused, or try to help rectify the situation - even when my bank advised that only they can reverse the charge while it's pending. I have since filed a dispute so that the funds can be returned to my account. Will never eat here again or recommend to anyone.

We have always enjoyed Ping Pong for happy hour or the occasional dinner and we chose it for our post-Easter service brunch for our group of four. We were enticed by the Easter event (mimosa dying, egg dying, 15% off if you dress like a bunny!). One of the guys in our group was skeptical that 5 dishes (deal was 5 dishes, bottomless mimosas for $36) would fill him up. He had to take a break after 3! It is a ton of food. They were generous with the bottles of champagne, provided lychee, passion fruit and mango juices (a nice change from the normal orange juice) and food coloring to make our mimosa the color of Easter eggs! It was a real treat and we will go back if they have other special events in the future.

I love dim sim and thought this would be a fun experience. Instead - it was a huge disappointment. Food came only warm (not hot), needed hot sauce jut to give it some taste and the calamari had to be returned as it was not edible (rubber would have been more tender). I would suggest that you stick to the real dim sim restarts with actual chinese chefs in the kitchen.
