Ping Pong Dim Sum - DupontGood For HH, a bit loud for DinnnerI've gone here for happy hour before, their wine and cocktail list and happy hour deals are pretty good. Their beer list is a little lacking, but they have yeungling so I'm good. I went for dinner the other night, and we sat outside which was lovely. I went inside though, and it was quite loud, would have been a bit loud for eating inside. Service was also only ok, but I'll attribute that to us ordering slowly and our server ending his shift; he was replaced half way through dinner. The dim sum was very good.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this restaurant, andI love this restaurant, and the food is amazing! Our waitress was also excellent. The only problem with outdoor seating right now is all of the construction being done outside the restaurant (which is obviously not their fault). Thanks for a great meal!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good Food But ExpensiveBe careful, portions are small and you wind up running up your tab before you know it. They say three per person is enough; I say you'll leave hungry.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunchWent for a Sunday brunch and thinking about going back this Sunday. LOVED the style in which they supply the mimosas. A bottle of champagne at the table with an array of mixers is a brilliant idea! Loved the vegetarian dishes and chicken. Especially the spicy chicken spring rolls. Must try the lemonade, also very fresh tasting.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDifferent and good!WE had 3 kids with us and food was coming out left and right which kept them eating and distracted! Ambience was nice and food was excellent. We had the tasting menu for 2 at $50 was good but not a fan of the 7 steamed dumpling items. I would suggest the soft shell crab tempura the Vietnamese spring rolls, the chicken sticky buns and the pork dumplings.. with jasmine rice, that is plenty dont need the $50 for two unless you are starving! Ginger cake for dessert is a must!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for vegetariansWhenever my vegetarian mother comes for a visit, I always spend about an hour looking for a restaurant that has more than one vegetarian choice. About one third of Ping Pong's menu is vegetarian friendly. All the food was very good.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat cocktailsI went with a group of my girlfriends and we all LOVED the cocktails we got. They were strong but delicious and very well presented. The happy hour specials are great, and I bet the brunch would be well worth the money, too. We all ate plenty but not too much, and the decor was very interesting. Top it off with a easy-to-access location and I'd say it's worth a try for anyone.
Not positive I LOVED the food, but we were also eating vegetarian only food (not my style) so I can't say it was bad.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMREALLY need authentic dim sum?If you do, then don't go here - it's more Asian fusion than true dim sum. But the food was pretty tasty, if a little pedestrian, and happy hour (4-7) is a great deal.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant EveningThe food was great! One could eat as little or as much as they were comfortable with given the "tapas-like" menu choices.
The service was quick and efficient, yet we were able to linger and relax as long as we wanted. Will definitely return.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeI brought my mother to brunch for Mother's Day. The place was wonderful, they had a complementary dumpling for my mom. The service was super attentive and helpful. I was actually really impressed. I couldn't believe how great our waiter was and the fact that the manager surprised us with a, according to my mom, delicious sea bass dumpling was so sweet. I also noticed that they had a room that could be sectioned off for parties. Each part of the place was sectioned making our experience there seem private and special. My only negative comment is a personal dislike of the golden vegetable dumpling, it had a werid spice to it that I didn't enjoy. Other then that ping pong's dim sum was wonderous.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique diningPing Pong Dim Sum is good food with a different and interesting way of ordering and being served. It all makes for a grand time out.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique dining experience.Unique dining experience. Portions a little small but we enjoyed it.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was great! Never hadBrunch was great! Never had to ask for a refill on the bottomless drinks, the waitress was on it! Food was also awesome and great choices, even with the limited brunch menu.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, lots of fun. We'veGood food, lots of fun. We've been to the one in Chinatown a few times, but this was our first visit to the one in Dupont Circle. We'll be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI highly recommend the fixedI highly recommend the fixed $20 dim sum menu - great food and variety!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food/ great looking restaurantI love a small plates restaurant and this place didn't disappoint. The service was attentive and helpful and the cocktail list was inventive. I'll be back to try some of the things I missed on my first visit.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood OverallI enjoyed the dark clublike decor with ample windows bringing in outside light at the restaurant. Ordering was made easy with a slip upon which you marked your selections. There were many small plates from which to choose. Fried items seemed to be a weakness for the kitchen, while the other plates we tried were quite tasty.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFun restaurant!New to dim sum, and our server was helpful and informative. The restaurant has a cool interior, I really loved the sidecar I ordered from the cocktail list, and enjoyed the food we ordered. I will definitely be back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is incredible. The food here is incredible. Also, amazing drinks! Be prepared to drop some serious dough if you want to get full though. Each thing is very small so you'll want to order everything! Which I totally recommend if you can afford it!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for my birthdayWent here for my birthday with my boyfriend and another couple. The food was great, and the waitress brought over sorbet with a birthday candle in it when my friends told her it was my birthday.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA very fun spot for lunchA very fun spot for lunch -- a bit loud on the background music for lunchtime, but a fun place with a menu good for groups.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPing Pong never disappoints!Ping Pong never disappoints! So much fun for a group full of foodies.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThank youI really loved the food and experience when I was having lunch with my friend. Bartender was amazing. She knew her stuff.
I know I rated the noise aspect as 2. But it is not a restaurant's fault. DC is unpredictable and it can spoil everything. They were having a construction right outside and it wasnt an issue because it was not a restaurant's fault.
The music I thought was a bit low. But I can understand that matter of building issue.
Overall I will definitely come back. You guys have an amazing staff and great food. Nothing can spoil that fact.
Thank you3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was an excellent restaurantThis was an excellent restaurant for my first Dim Sum experience. The staff was energetic and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I will definitely be going back!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Ping Pong Dim Sum. ItLove Ping Pong Dim Sum. It has some of the best cocktails in Dupont and one of the best happy hours around. (Love the Ping Pong cocktail and the frozen grapes and champagne drink.)
I've had several group dinners here, and each time has been fantastic. Great ambiance. The portions are generous for small plates. Be sure to save room for their ginger cake-- it's delicious.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE BEST RESTAURANT IN DUPONTService was well-timed and friendly! Staff are the best! Great for all age groups. Food and drinks are delicious! My favorite items on the menu are the vegetable sticky rice, golden vegetable dumpling, and pineapple coconut lime cooler! Would highly recommend to all looking for a cool vibe, great time and yummy dim sum!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second visit to Ping PongOur second visit to Ping Pong in DuPont Circle, but this time as a group, and it did not disappoint a single person in attendance! One of our group was also vegetarian, and was extremely impressed with the quality & variety of dim sum on offer. We'll be sure to visit again next time we're through in DC.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday Sumday BrunchI have to say that this is becoming a regular place for us! The Sumday brunch is fantastic. The champagne doesn't end and being able to make your own mimosas using the great juices is fantastic. And the dim sum is so tasty and has a great variety. I also have to say that they really hire some good servers. We had Edwin this time and if you can get his section -- do it! He was super friendly and attentive and made it thoroughly enjoyable! We are going to keep going! Hit this place up or go to the one in China town.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCocktail Hour Dim SumIf you are looking for traditional dim sum, don't come here. But if you are looking for dim sum-inspired deliciousness that has been artfully localized for the urbane city-dweller looking to enjoy global fare with Chinese roots + matching cocktails with friends, this is definitely your place! If you are familiar with the Hong Kong-based brand "Shanghai Tang" which normally focuses on radically modern Chinese-clothes in brights colors with a wink to retro flair, this would be the food to match the aesthetic! Great place for a group of mixed eaters too since vegetarian dishes are well-labeled and plentiful! Fun, delicious, and can be great for appetizers or a family-style meal!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed Ping PongWe really enjoyed Ping Pong Dim Sum. It had a nice atmosphere and good food. It was lots of fun ordering the small plates and getting to try many things.12/1/2012 12:00:00 AM
