Diner Reviews
  • "We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation. For some reason we had to sit in their waiting area for all of those 10 minutes before we were seated. The restaurant was not busy. It must be their policy. Don't arrive early! The food and service were both good and there were many options on the menu. My wife and I always share a salad when we go out for dinner. This restaurant actually charged us $2.00 for the privilege of sharing the salad. That's the first time that's ever happened to us and unexpected in a restaurant of this caliber."

  • "Abundance of wine choices and specials. Generous portion of kale and beet salad, bouillabaisse delicious. Portuguese bean soup very filling, while grilled snapper slightly dry. Overall worthwhile."

  • "We were looking forward to this special dinner out. My husband had fish that was nothing really special. Unfortunately I ordered steak cooked medium and had to send it back 3 times to the point of taking it off the bill and not having my meal. Waitress and manager were apologetic but it did ruin our experience for this venue, probably will not return."

  • "Their pineapple upside down cake is the absolute best I've ever had. I look forward to it all week when we are on the island. very well priced and extensive wine list."

  • "Great food, great service, great atmosphere and all for a very fair price. A MUST to dine at if you go to Maui. And you have to have the signature Pineapple dessert."

  • "Scallop appetizer is the best I've ever had. Braised ribs were cooked perfectly - falling off the bone and full of flavor. This is definitely a "foodie" place. and the Mai Tai has plenty of booze... it'll sneak up on you !"

  • "Went last night as our special night out. Food was just ok, nothing spectacular. The spinach salad was overdressed, wine list was lack luster. My Mahi Mahi was overlooked, my husbands swordfish was good. The ambiance was typical golf clubhouse, a little dark and dingy. Would not go back."

  • "Little pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Food was great and service was outstanding."

  • "Went for dinner on a Friday evening. Food was marginal at best. Fish was fresh but over done. Menu seemed like they were trying too hard with mediocre results. Ambiance was boring, basically a golf course setting, with little Hawaiian charm. Similar to something you'd find at any retirement community around California."

  • "We were escorted to a table for two overlooking the beautiful Bay Golf Course, the Maui mountains and the Pacific. Gorgeous! The restaurant was spotless, our server, Sharon, was top-noych. My husband had the ahi which he rated "excellent" - this coming from someone who's highest compliment is "not bad". I had the filet fork-tender and prepared to perfection. Ruth's Chris has long been my favorite place for a filet, but I think that they've been surpassed. We shared their signature dessert, Pineapple Upside-Down Cake topped with Macadamia but ice cream Incredible! I'd give this place a 10 out of 5 stars if I could."

  • "Sunday brunch time was not busy surprise. we ordered two breakfasts and they were supper in taste and volume they were all you could ask for. we missed the open air that was there before, but the big windows let in the views, it was just not the Maui up scale restaurant we love ."

  • "Top on our list to enjoy while in Maui. We are strong supporters of the Cohn's restaurant & this is no exception to their excellent chef & quality food."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Can be noisy if the golfers are there en masse. If so eat outside where it is very peaceful. Save room for their delicious pineapple upside down cake."

  • "First time we've used Open Table in Maui and I'll use it everytime. Easy to find and both food and atmosphere were everything you could want on vacation."

  • "The location of this restaurant is outstanding with a spectacular view. Our food was very good as was the wait staff. The only drawbacks relate to ambiance. The interior is looking a bit tired and the restaurant would be much improved if the windows opened."

  • "We had a very nice meal at the Pineapple Grill. Our server was friendly, efficient, and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. We hope to go back again!"

  • "Pineapple grill is a bit over priced for what you get, spring rolls were not good. The $42 filet option was definitely not worth it. My piece was cooked properly but my daughter's piece contained a lot of fat. Service was good but probably would not go back. It did not help that table next to us was quite loud and we had to listen to one particular bore go on and on about his golf game."

  • "We go here every month or two. If you like sweet things, you have to try their Pineapple Upside-down cake - so good! And it's free next visit if you fill out a brief online survey!"

  • "Good but not great food for an elderly crowd at the golf club. Food presented well but generally uninspired."

  • "From the appetizers to the wine list, prices are far above average. New Zealand sauvignon blanc which wholesales for $10/bottle is on the wine list for $45. Pineapple upside down cake was good but does not merit a $10.95 price tag OUCH. Short Ribs were melt in your mouth tender $38.95 Snapper needed a sauce as it was a little overcooked $42.95. Shared one app (Manila Clams-one of our favs), two main courses, one dessert and a $55 bottle of wine, with tip, total came to over $200, YIKES almost thought I was as Mama's Fish house for a moment."

  • "The meal was wonderful...disappointed that we were not served any bread , however."

  • "Beautifully prepared dishes in a gorgeous setting. Unfortunately, the hostess and server were only mediocre especially for a restaurant of this caliber."

  • "Have been dining here for years. Happy hour is fun, food is always prepared well, often innovative menu, and the view is superb!"

  • "We arrived just before sunset, so it was very busy in the bar. We were lead to a table that overlooked the tennis courts, and if looking to my far left you could see a part of the golf course and to the far right a glimpse of the sunset. The food was fit for a foodie and nearly matched the view. We enjoyed our food choices."

  • "We are regulars at the Grill and love it for special occasions such as my Dad's 94th we just celebrated there. The staff is extremely friendly, the food is excellent and views gorgeous. We asked for a special dessert treat and they delivered so warmly. Looking forward to our next outing and would highly recommend to anyone. The tables are situated for privacy yet you feel sociable and everybody in our section was singing Happy Birthday right along with our table!"

  • "We totally enjoyed our dinner at the Pineapple Grill! We went on a Sunday, so we could have the Prime Rib and we honestly feel it was the best we have ever been served! The service was excellent, and all the employees we met were very friendly."

  • "We always enjoy the relative quiet, comfort and ambiance. The tables are not too close together here. The service is always great and drinks and food are excellent. The first place we think of for a special occasion or dining alone or with friends. The monk fish is a favorite taste delight. Best all around of any restaurant on the westside."

  • "We dined here on a Wine Wednesday, one of their busiest nights. After some inconsistent experiences recently, they seem to be back to their A game. All of the entrees were delicious and perfectly prepared. We heard that they finally have a new chef de cuisine, so I am sure that is making a difference. As always, the service here is excellent."

  • "We have been dining at Pineapple Grill for ten+years. The quality of the food is not at the level that it once was. Hopefully, this will be changed very soon. It is a nice restaurant with excellent service. The different specials and Wine Wednesday are very appealing, the food just needs improvement. It appears that there is no executive chef, and perhaps that is their problem. We love this place! Please bring it back to its former self"

  • "Service was so so and our server had a dull and non helpful personality. Large group/table of elderly folks were there in the same room and it was very unpleasant for us and most others as well. They should have a separate party room for large loud groups."

  • "Forty-four dollars for a piece of Hawaiian Snapper the size of my thumb is excessive. But the view is special overlooking one of the Kapalua golf courses. All the beautiful people eat there I guess. Nice bar and extensive upper priced wine list. Convenient parking at no charge."

  • "Great views, the entire staff was very friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs. Ate lunch, then a couple of days later, came back for dinner. The food was top quality both times! The pineapple upside down cake dessert is totally awesome!!"

  • "We ate here on our last night in Maui. We had good food and service but there was a party of 14 who were seated after us. They were extremely loud and occasionally vulgar. The staff including the manager said that there wasn't anything that they could do. Many people just arriving asked to be moved but they were loud enough to be heard anywhere in the place. We finally decided that we just could not talk to each other because it was so loud. Too bad because otherwise it was very good. Ask for the $39 sunset special menu if you are eating early. It makes it a very reasonable dinner in a nice place."

  • "Not sure what happened this night. It was busy but it took more than 20 minutes for us to get any service, we finally had to get up to get our server. Other than that our food was very good."
