  • "Great place for a nice dinner. My husband LOVES the prime rib. I'm allergic to wheat and they're very accommodating, they now have many gluten-free options."

  • "This great Bend classic restaurant has not lost it's touch. Our guests loved the location, ambience, and food. We will continue to visit the Pine Tavern alone and with out of town guests."

  • "My husband and I visited the Pine Tavern Restaurant on a recent visit to Redmond. We had a fabulous night. The food was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a lovely evening in Bend."

  • "We had dinner at Pine Tavern last week while in Bend for the day coming over from our week-long vacation spot at Black Butte. The rolls were out of this world once again, and the sturgeon and the BBQ ribs we had were very delicious! Our server happened to overhear me tell a little girl whose birthday it was that day, that we had just celebrated our anniversary, and our sweet waitress brought us a free mud pie for dessert to celebrate it! Totally unexpected! What a nice thing to do! Thank you!"

  • "From the reviews I have read I understand that the Pine Tavern is under new management. With that said, we still love going to the Pine Tavern. We had never sat outside and it was okay. The sun moved a bit and we were shaded in the beginning but towards the end the sun was visiting our table. A little uncomfortable but not bad. Some folks had it worse than us. I would probably sit inside next time. The food was still very good. I don't know if I would say great but very good. We did miss the old recipe for the scones and honey butter. Luckily the honey butter was there. The scones were more like biscuits than the old type of scone. Good but not very good or great. Those used to really be a treat. Overall I gave a "very good"."

  • "This birthday dinner was a real disappointment. The calamari to start with was dry, crunchy, and had very little calamari in it. Possibly a squeeze of lemon would have helped, but the lemon was sliced, battered and fried. The duck was the worst duck I've ever had. I love duck fat, but this was chewy, instead of crispy, and totally inedible. The service was amateurish, scattered, and poor. The dress of support staff was unprofessional and sloppy. For the top prices charged, this was very mediocre at best. We won't be back."

  • "Pine Tavern is a favorite of ours. Everything was perfect except that it was a cold day and the door out to the patio was opened, closed, opened, closed. We sat as far away from the door as possible. The help was not aware that keeping the door open made the room cold. Perhaps on chilly days they could be made aware to have the door open, get the people outside and close the door more quickly. Other than that, we had a great time. See ya next time,"

  • "We had a great early dinner. Food was very good and great service."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation and had a drink at the bar. The service there was good. We chose to wait around 10 minutes past our reservation time in order to sit on the back deck overlooking the Deschutes River. Once shown to our table we thought we had landed the best seat in the house. The problem was that apparently neither of the two servers had been assigned to this table. We sat there for nearly 30 minutes with menus opened while the two servers cleared tables, talked to other customers, adjusted umbrellas, and tried to keep busy. It was like we didn't exist. Once we got the attention of one of the servers, she acted like it was no big deal. We had the lox appetizer but had lost our appetites and left without eating dinner."

  • "The current Pine Tavern is not our favorite restaurant. Tethrow and Scanlons rank higher on our list. However, the man we were honoring is 90 years old and has great memories from many years ago. The food seemed slightly better. Biscuits were like fluffy white bread rolls with too much sugar in them. It has been about 15 years ago when we first tried the Pine Tavern and I think the recipe used back then was the real scone type biscuit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we arrived at 6:15 the restaurant was less than half full. However, the wait for courses took over three hours. We had planned a leisurely 2 hour dinner and were going dancing. However, we had to cancel our plans. That was quite a disappointment."

  • "With new owners we were hoping for something fun and new, but no such luck. Prime rib was over cooked, server never seemed to care."

  • "I made reservations on line and was pleased with the e-mail confirmation. When we arrived for the special birthday celebration they were expecting us and were aware of the birthday. They even printed special menus with the date and Happy Birthday printed on them. It was a very nice special touch. The food was very good. A complimentary birthday dessert of choice off the dessert menu was given. Our server was attentive and pleasant. It was a lovely experience and a special night for our special birthday celebration. Thank you to Pine Tavern for making it a pleasant and joyously memorable experience."

  • "Food was mediocre, service good. They need to step it up a bit if they want to expand their customer base.... Thought it might have changed from a year ago,but not so. Lunch outside on the lawn is really the only reason to eat there. of course, it was cold on the day we had lunch, so we had to eat inside. Not their fault."

  • "The food was prompt, but the service was lackluster. Too many tables and people per servers. He was rushed and did not bring my wife her salad or the table the scones. I never had the opportunity to ask for another beer until I was done with my meal. The people at the table next to us complained to the manager about the service. This seems to be an ongoing issue as of late, but hopefully with the new owner coming in there will be an adjustment of the priorities. This is a great place and I will continue to go back, but be patient if its busy. Especially since there are a lot of big groups that come in and they seem to take away a lot of the available bodies."

  • "7:15 reservations for 4. Service was slow & weren't busy. Were out of clam chowder. Ordered appetizers of onion petals, sliced too thick with wasabi dip, too spicy, & calamari, soggy. 2 orders of stroganoff, dry, not much meat, tasteless. Skipped dessert."

  • "The Pine Tavern is an icon in Bend. We cannot be happier to have it under new ownership especially one as experienced as Bill McCormick. The difference from our last visit is like night and day. I would not hesitate to recommend the Pine Tavern to anyone"

  • "I, along with four friends, enjoyed a pleasant lunch out experience. The outdoor seating area is beautiful surrounded by multiple colors of tuber begonias and a lovely view of the Deschutes River. Unfortunately, we were forced inside by the wind and chill, but dining inside was very nice. The food for the most part was good, my burger was burnt pretty bad but I didn't send it back which I could have. I wasn't able to finish it as it was just too charred. I was not asked in advance how I would like it cooked. I felt prices for the portion and quality were a little high. I would go back again, though, with hopes of enjoying outdoor seating and a different entree or at least a properly cooked hamburger!"

  • "The prices have gone up, and some of the menu items aren't as good as they used to be. I attribute this to some experimenting by the new owner. I hope the food quality improves, and a price point friendly to locals needs to be established. The Pine Tavern is a loved local institution, not a tourist trap or chain. It needs to be treated with respect in order to bring it back to a great place to eat."

  • "When I made the reservation I mentioned that we had a birthday in the group and typed her name. Pine Tavern personalized the menu for her wishing her HB.. that was a great special touch. . Glad to see customer service like that."

  • "Had a great time for our anniversary. Left a note when I made the reservation, which they could not guarantee unless I called. But they ended up giving us a free dessert anyway, which was a great end to the evening. Definitely made up for the portion of salmon that seemed to be smaller than the others I saw."

  • "We wanted a great dining experience for our last night of vacation in Central Oregon and we found a real gem! The menu was full of excellent options and the staff was exceptionally attentive, but not hovering. They worked in concert and we had every question and request answered. "

  • "We've dined at the Pine Tavern about once a year for the past ten years and keep hoping for it to improve, but it hasn't happened yet. We're just looking for tasty, nicely presented food at a fair price. The portions are adequate but not for the money. I had the beef tenderloins and it amounted to 6 - 8 bites of meat. Thank goodness for the big pile of french fries to serve as a filler. I typically don't finish a restaurant meal, but this was no problem. My husband had grilled salmon and his piece of fish was undercooked and flavorless. The best tasting thing on his plate was the asparagus. The Pine Tavern is known for its sourdough scones, and those are definitely delicious. Maybe this place should be a bakery!"

  • "Everything was great except for our server. He was very slow. His conversations with us were to drown out. After he took our cake plates he took so long coming back to the table for our check. He told us told he was in the back eating our left over cake and commented on how good it was!"

  • "The food was good not great, four of us had lunch dinning outside on the patio. The highlight of the lunch was dinning on the patio and the great view of Mirror Pond. "

  • "We have lived in Bend for years and always thought the Pine Tavern was an excellent restaurant. Our experience a few days ago was horrible. Our wait person took our order and then we didn't really see her the rest of evening. She came back once and and we asked for some lemons and a soda and we never saw her again until she brought our bill. I had to go in the back and ask for lemons and another wait person brought them out to us. It was not that crowded in the restaurant so no excuse for the poor service. Even if it was crowded, there would be no excuse but perhaps understandable. We will never go back to the Pine Tavern again! Too many other nice restaurants in our area with much better service."

  • "Another excellent meal here! They are always reliable, excellent service and great atmosphere. We were originally seated by a noisy party that made any conversation difficult. They were gracious in moving us to a different table, even though they were very busy. Thanks Betsy, you are the best! Highly recommend Pine Tavern, never disappoints!"

  • "We came in for my Birthday. The people are very nice. However, the food all came slowly and cold. And several people disliked their food very much. The tuna on the tuna fish was bad (it had turned). Lucky my girl friend did not eat it. The Pine Tavern did not charge her for her meal. I have had many celebrations here and this was sadly, a disappointing experience. Again, let me be clear. The people are 100% nice that work there. Very nice. The food and service (we had a young man that seemed to have never waited tables before in his entire life..he was nice..but had very little skill at serving people) were a disaster. Did it ruin the party? hell no!"

  • "This was our first experience at Pine Tavern. It was most enjoyable. We had a reservation and seated promptly. We both ordered Prime Rib and it was excellent. The scones and honey butter was superb. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. It was a top notch experience. When I return to Bend we will certainly visit again. "

  • "I've been to the Pine Tavern many times over the years and always have a good meal. However, this time I did find their menu somewhat dull. I admit I'm somewhat of a foodie, but everything seemed a little lackluster. Time to freshen up."

  • "I decided to take my fiancee out to dinner for our Anniversary after we both got off work. I had requested a quiet table for 2 with a river view and that is exactly what we got. Our table was directly in the courner facing the patio and river. I loved the view with all the flowers and the lights that turned on as it got dark. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was fantastic. With a rich buttery taste. My fiancee got the beef stroganaf which was not quite what he expected for the price. But it was still very good."

  • "As usual.... very prompt, efficient service, great quality food, lovely venue/garden/bar/dining areas and super location. Always a hit in our book. It was a perfect delight to introduce a friend who was new to The Pine Tavern! "

  • "This was recommended by a friend during a recent visit to Bend. The staff was great, knowledgeable and courteous. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food is above average - lots of home-style comfort food on the menu (meat loaf, mac & cheese). The restaurant has a lovely history and has been operating in Bend since the 1930's. The outside seating looked great although our weather did not cooperate - overlooks Mirror Pond."

  • "When we travel through Bend, the Pine Tavern is always on our list. The parking is right next door. The view out to the Deschutes River over their outdoor area is lovely and the tree growing up through the middle of the restaurant is a real conversation piece. Service is always friendly and prompt. The meals are reliable. The portions are enough to feed the largest appetite. Ask for a window table and you won't be disappointed."

  • "Our table was at the back of the restaurant by the windows. It overlooked Mirror Pond and their outdoor dining area & garden. Beautiful! Food was excellent but the only reason I gave 4 stars is that their Onion Petals were heavily breaded and not much flavor. They are known for their scones and they did not disappoint nor did our main dinners. Would go back again and recommend it to others as well."
