Diner Reviews
  • "First off, our dinner was on the second nite of opening for the season, so there were quite a few hiccups. Our reservation was at 6:15; but we waited 45 min as we were early, not be seated early. We shared the porterhouse steak, and it was very salty, asked for med rare and it came more rare than we like. Didn't send it back because the service was slow. The table was too close to the other group and I felt crowded, not to mention I moved out of my chair for the wait staff to lower the blinds, as there was not enough room between chairs; plus overhearing their conversation about mammograms, illnesses, what the kids were doing. This was a once in a lifetime visit; would recommend coming later in the season when staff more up to speed."

  • "Our dining experience was very good. Everything from the chairlift ride up and down the mountain, the amazing views, to the incredible food. The sunset dinner is something me and my family, especially my 71 year old father who has not rode a chairlift in years, will never forget. Thank you for making our experience possible!"

  • "This restaurant is located half way to the top of Mt Bachelor and accessed by chairlift. The view of the Cascade Range from the tables is stunning. Better than Timberline Lodge Dining Room. But wait! That's not all. The food is amazing as well. And customer service is tops. The fish, fowl, and meat entrees look very good, but I chose to eat vegetarian and there are plenty of creative options on this menu to satisfy non-flesh eaters. Our group had three entrees, three salads, two starters, and a couple of sides. All were excellent. So order up. there are no losers on the menu. The prices are not inexpensive, but I thought they were less than restaurants of similar quality and a bargain considering the location."

  • "We were celebrating my birthday and made a 7:45 reservation. We checked in at 7:25 and were forgotten until 8pm. We weren't didn't even know who our server was until after 8:30 and our mail course didn't arrive until 9:20. We weren't offered dessert as the restaurant was closed by the time we finished our meal. Cocktails either weren't available or were poorly made. Service was non-existent and the FOH manager blamed BOH. It was a bunch of finger pointing and in after a ridiculously lousy 2 and 1/2 hour dining experience, the manager only took an $8 app off our bill. Thankfully we had a really good time because it was comically ridiculous and you can't beat the view, but I would only do cocktails and bar food the next time I go."

  • "Overall really enjoyable. Incredible views-just beautiful. We were their on opening night so a bit chaotic for staff trying to work out the kinks, but they did very well. will need lift ticket to get up there, which is round trip. BRING A COAT and remember you are on a ski lift-if you lose a stilleto heel on the ride up.....you're outta luck. Dress is casual. Bring a camera!"

  • "I would recommend going, but maybe just once for the sunset dinner. The view is incredible and it's fun to ride the lift. Overall it feels pretty over priced for the quality of food. It also costs to ride the lift up. The service was fine, the setting inside is fine, but it's really all about the view during dinner and watching the sunset and running out to the deck for pictures."

  • "The Cirque was an enjoyable experience. The food was good and on the better end of ski resort food and the view was fantastic. The service was good."

  • "The chair lift ride to and from the restaurant was a wonderfully unique experience. I recommend arriving well before your reservation, so you can take pictures and enjoy the panoramic views with a pre-dinner cocktail. Dinner was very good. It might not have been up to Bourdain or super snobby foodie standards, but then again, very little is. Our dinner was delicious---scallops, ling cod, and filet mignon. Servers were eager to please and did so at every opportunity. Our sunset dinner at the Pine Marten Lodge was the highlight of our Labor Day weekend vacation."

  • "I brought my parents who were visiting from Indiana. They loved it and the views were beautiful. They had never done anything like that and would do it again when they visit again."

  • "We have attended several times over the past years. This year was the best on service, food and presentation. The food and preparation was excellent. Keep the chef!"

  • "What a very special evening for our family! My sister got my son and I gift certificates for our birthday. The meal, atmosphere, scenery, sunset was beyond amazing! We took our teenage boys with us and we all had such an incredible evening. It will be an evening we always remember."

  • "Absolutely great dining experience. We have been trying to get up to Pine Marten Lodge for their Sunset Dinner for at least 2 years and we were so disappointed we did not make it a priority sooner. We had a great time. The views of course were outstanding and we were very pleasantly surprised with the depth and breadth of the menu. I gave the ambiance a rating of 3 as it is still a Ski Resort dining area. So it is very open with sparse furnishings, etc and had a bizarre techno/trance music track playing in the background. I normally don't pay any attention to the background music but it was just annoying enough to have me focus on it and then I even brought it up to my wife to see if it bothered her as well. Which it did."

  • "Mt. Bachelor is a beautiful place. Riding the ski lift to the top of the mountain to get to the restaurant is the most unique entrance we had ever experienced. The ride up was slow enough that you could experience the breathtaking views, take pictures and say hello to people passing by coming down off of the mountain. The service was swift and very friendly. The bar was encased in windows so the view could be enjoyed by all. The food was the most delicious blend of flavors dressed to perfection when served. We had a window front table where we were able to watch the sunset as it fell below the horizon just off in the distance. The beautiful rays of yellow, orange , red, blue, green, and pink made for a very romantic end to the day."

  • "I wish there were more menu options in the $15 range. Food was pricey and the bread was extremely salty. I had the Caesar salad and it was very good."

  • "The experience was fun and the view was spectacular! The menu offered a good variety and the presentation of the food was nice but it was a bit expensive. The ride down the chairlift in the dark was amazing. The stars just popped! Something we'll put on our "to do" list each summer."

  • "First time up the mountain. Don't know why we didn't do this sooner. Fantastic views. Started with a fun ride up the hill in the lift. Great start to a wonde rd f uh l destnation of more great views and great food. Wait staff were excellent. Food great. Will be sharing ouaadventure with friends."

  • "The food was over priced. It was so load I could not hear myself think. Not only was the food over priced but mine was so gross I couldn't even finish it. And then I had to what my complimentary ice cream. I will not return and I will not suggest it to friends."

  • "The food was phenomenal! My wife and I savored every bite. The atmosphere was lovely, perfect for our very rare date nights. We look forward to doing this again next summer; wish it was open year round, we'd come! Even in the snow, it would be worth it!"

  • "Our family and freinds do the Mt Bachelor Sunset Dinner each year, about the last eight years or so. A great time for all especially once the sun sets! Anyone that gets to Central Oregon during the summer months must take the opportunity to enjoy a truly Oregon sunset!"

  • "Went up there for the first time since moving to Bend 7 years ago. It was about celebration time with our cousins from Brazil and it was terrific in many ways. The ride up on the outside ski chairs was thrilling if not freezing (for our cousins) and the view at the restaurant totally worth braving the cold. Inside, the restaurant is fairly industrial looking but we kept in mind that during the winter it is a "ski lodge". The food was very good indeed and there was choices for every taste, from meat eaters to seafood and vegetarian dishes. Service was friendly but not attentive and slow. The ride back later in the evening was in the dark (past 9 pm) and a little warmer given that the breeze had died down. All around a very memorable event."

  • "Great food and service with fantastic views in all directions. It was a bit noisy as the open atmosphere at the lodge. Would definitely go back as it was a great experience for our fourth year wedding anniversary,"

  • "Beautiful views great food expensive . A different type of dining experience if you love the outdoors and have never seen Mt Bachelor this is a must. Service was not up to par the evening that we went. Waitress spilled a glass of wine all over table and guest's clothing was splattered as well as remainder of guest's dinner. Restaurant should have offered to clean clothing and/or reimburse for entree. They did not. Disappointing. Errors do happen but management did not handle this properly."

  • "Great experience to take out of towners for a chair lift ride and a fabulous sunset experience. Food is inconsistent, Caesar salad was wonderful, ling cod was mediocre. Salmon was average and same "relish" was used for both. Relatively expensive, especially when you add in the chair lift tickets. Service was good. I would recommend the chair lift ride with beverages for the experience, skip dinner."

  • "I was looking forward to this dining experience and was seriously disappointed. The chairlift up to Mt Bachelor is fun and the trip down in the moonlight was romantic. The quality of the food was sub-par, especially considering the stiff price. Even with reservations, we waited 25 mn, they were out of several of their regular entrees, and the service was poor. I would definitely NOT recommend this place for dinner. Instead, take the chairlift up, have a drink at the bar, watch the sunset and leave. You will have enjoyed the experience without the exorbitant price tag - a tourist trap!"

  • "My friends came to Bend to see me.......I thought!! ;) They loved kicking off their visit with going to the top of the mountain for a fabulous dinner and an incredible view. What a wonderful combination......The whole thing including the ride up and down. They were primed for a great stay in Central Oregon!! We all loved. It was PERFECT!!"

  • "Last year several people I know had a terrible experience here including myself. I was so happy to see a much improved menu and more offerings. Food was very good! I just wish Mt. B would charge less for the ride up. I have a season pass, but my guests were not impressed with the cost of a chair lift ride for one trip. Good Job!"

  • "Dining at Pine Marten Lodge on Mt. Bachelor with visiting family exceeded our expectations. Riding the chair lift to and from the restaurant was fun for everyone. The view was breathtaking and freedom to explore around the lodge was great. We were impressed by the variety and creativity of the dishes offered. The service was friendly and well timed - our server even made sure our daughter's homemade mac-n-cheese was the right temperature. The only complaint was that the main course dishes and sides were billed as "family style" but the portions were not all big enough to share, most notably the salmon. The sunset was perfect and the food was delicious. We will definitely return to enjoy this all again."

  • "While I love playing in the snow with the kids or taking a snowmobile ride now and then, I don't board or ski so the summer lift rides are perfect for me. I love the scenery. I love to hike & explore. This is a great place to be! Loved the service, view and food. We came here after we got married 4 years ago, celebrating our anniversary here was wonderful. Finding a great table for us was a plus, ty to the wonderful hostess! We will be back again and again :0)"

  • "Overall experience was dissappointing. The view was great and that is where the experience ended. When we made the reservation we were told that we could not reserve a window table. When we got there ,we were told there was no window table available for us and the 4 that were open were reserved. The food was average at best, flavorless . For the price they need to invest in a better head chef."

  • "We enjoyed both our dinner & breakfast at the Crater Lake Lodge. The use of local, organic foods is a real plus. The only complaint was that periodically some kind of exhaust (diesel or propane leak?) that would waft up onto the dining/drinking deck and into the dining area near the door to the deck (we had to move to a table away from the open door) . Three times we mentioned this to staff but none acknowledged that such a problem existed. This was incidental to the thoughtfully prepared & served food..."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A little more seasoned wait staff who are comfortable with the menu. Her attitude was great, but just a little unsure of herself. She was very attentive but sometimes took a while with our requests."

  • "Both the food and the view were excellent this year. We go here every summer but this year the food was really outstanding. Loved the new menu. Regardless, the view is always worth the trip."

  • "We had friends from Massachussetts visitng and thought the Sunset Dinner would be a unique dining experience as well as a beautiful view. It was everything we'd hoped for. The chairlift ride to the restaurant was a fun start. (be aware that it costs $14 per person for a roundtrip ride.) The lounge area is very informal with a small bar set up for before dinner cocktails. Arriving early allows time for picture taking out on the deck. The flat iron steak was a hit with our husbands, while I found the lamb ribs to be absolutely delicious...but like most rib dishes they were a little messy to eat, but well worth it! Gorgeous sunset! We were relieved to find wool blankets being provided for the chilly ride down the mountain..it was very cozy!"
