Diner Reviews
  • "This is a beautiful space. However the service by any standard was inattentive and slow. The Caesar salad was poor - the fish and desserts however were good."

  • "Always fabulous. Greeted by name, Maitre D, Sommelier, and all levels of servers very responsive to my desires, to include the firendly Chef Benet. This time I had the Chef's Tasting menu, with Foie gras added (cause I love it and just had to), and a white wine pairing. Only thing I didn't like the whole night was one wine. But the other pairings were fab, and even had saki with the fish."

  • "When I made my reservation I casually mentioned that it was our anniversary. I did not think that nor did I expect the restaurant to pay attention to this detail. To my surprise and my wife's, we were greeted with two glasses of champagne and a happy anniversary wish from the staff. It was the beginning to an extraordinary night of dining. The meals are beyond delight and the service was excellently detailed. When I come back to Puerto Rico we will defintely vist Pikayo."

  • "On vacation I hadn't expected a true 5 star experience. However Pikado delivers across the board. Service was solid with a never empty water glass and accommodative staff. The dining room is beautiful and tables well spaced to ensure privacy unlike most NYC hot spots. And lastly the food was diverse and innovative. Enjoyed the cheese soufflé and the mix of fish, pasta, salad and cheese dishes. Somewhat surprised by quality given food varietal diversity. Would certainly try again."

  • "Amazing food! We went for the classic tasting menu, which did not disappoint. The chef really understands how to put together creative and complex flavor combinations. Each dish was a surprise from the tuna tartare with wasabi tobiko and Yuzu sauce to the amazing foie gras with truffle honey, which may be one of the best dishes I have had in my life. The portions are not big but the flavors of each dish are meant to be savored and appreciated. The only dish I was not utterly impressed by was the scallop ravioli, which I felt the scallop was a bit overcooked and rubbery rather than tender, but the flavor was excellent. Wonderful service as well!"

  • "Dinner was great, however tostones beg to be served with a sauce on the side. Scallops were on point and so were the appetizers. Not terribly impressed with manposteo rice. More dessert options would be nice."

  • "I was very impressed with my overall experience. Food was exquisite there was nothing that I didn't like for the starters to dessert. Nice wine list and service was excellent."

  • "This is Wilo Benet's flagship restaurant at the Hilton Condado Plaza. The food is a great combination of technique, converting Puerto Rican classics into masterpieces. For example, with the "Bistec Encebollado" (single minute steaks with sauteed onions), Chef Benet uses tenderloin and the onions are caramelized just perfect. The seared Foie Gras he serves with ripe plantain and a truffle honey. I always have a great experience in this, one of the best restaurants in Puerto Rico. Be sure to make a reservation, be it foe the dining room or the bar."

  • "One of the most memorable meals I have ever had! The service was excellent and the food was a spectacular work of art! Chef Benet was kind enough to prepare some pre-meal surprises for the table and spent a good bit of time describing the various dishes. Our table consisted of people in the entertainment business and our applause was for the staff was well deserved. An evening we won't forget."

  • "Our meal was delicious, our entire party enjoyed all our choices. We ordered a bottle of pinot noir, which was a great pairing with our steak dishes. In spite of the kitchen's excellence, the service was a spotty. The two examples include: not acknowledging our mother's 60th birthday which was noted on the reservation. A nearby table received a candle in their dessert; we thought it would have been nice if this was also done for our mother. Also, we ordered a dish, which was asked to be wrapped up to take home - stomachs were too full. We didn't realize until later that they forgot to give us our doggie bag- too late to head back! All in all, after spending over $400 for dinner, I would have liked to have seen consistent and better service."

  • "A culinary treat! Best meal in Puerto Rico. Swordfish melted in your Mouth. Tapas were all fabulous and the cheese soufflé with guava was Sublime. Don't miss it"

  • "Great food, the gandules risotto was amazing as well as the scallops. Dessert was scrumptious. Special event and received complimentary champagne. Totally recommend it. Was surprised that there was no dress code. During our visit some young men had caps on, girls with shorts and bandanas. There should be a dress code. However I would return."

  • "Our dinner was Pikayo was not just my favorite in San Juan, it is one of my favorite dinners anywhere. The tasting menu was stunning & they accommodated our requests for additions and changes with a smile. The service was top notch but not austere - they joked with us in a way that made our dinner even more enjoyable. We ate very early (just before 7pm) - by the time we left after 9pm the restaurant was packed & a bit loud."

  • "Move over St. Maarten ... Puerto Rico is giving you a run for your money as the culinary capital of the Caribbean! Pikayo is fantastic! Chef Wilo visited our table (he is incredibly accessible and very fun) which led us to try the Classic Tasting Menu. The chef encouraged us to help them customize it to our taste ... who does that with a 8 course meal? We told them we like spicy and love chocolate, so they stepped up the heat and substituted a dessert ....UNBELIEVABLE! We loved every course and highly recommend what we thought was truly a remarkable experience!! The wine list, service and ambiance matched the food. Don't miss Pikayo!"

  • "Extremenly expensive! Service is very good. Not many choices on the menu. The food was good but not exquisite. Main entrees don't include any side, that makes it even more expensive. Appetizers are kind of small for the price. It has a beautiful view of the ocean, I would recommend to visit the restaurant during the day to enjoy the view if you dare to pay $160 for two without any drinks! The only item of the menu that surprised me was the coffee, it was only $3 and it was really good!!! Buen Provecho!"

  • "The food was very good, however, the noise level was crazy. As soon as one round table of about 6 or 7 people sat down, you could hardly hear the person across from you."

  • "Always a great experience, it is our best meal when we are in Puerto Rico. They know what they are doing. The staff is 1st class from the moment you walk in till the moment you leave. Lexander our waiter and his colleagues made it a 5 star evening!"

  • "My husband and I went to Pikayo our first night in San Juan. The atmosphere, food and service were impeccable. We started w the shrimp tacitos that were so delicious we had a second order. We also had the escargot....amazing! For entrees we had cowboy steak and grilled shrimp....both full of flavor and delicious! fWhen we were leaving Chef Wilo Benet came over....he was almost as delicious as the food ; ) he was so personable and gracious....he simply perfected the evening. We highly recommend Pikayo for a special occasion or just a night out."

  • "Amazing service, and very very good food! It is on the pricer side but when you are in Puerto Rico why not treat yourself. The service was top notch, and I mean top notch as in in the states top notch service! Didn't do the tasting menu, which they have two of and was a 4 course meal for $70, very reasonable. Instead my Love started with a beat and goat cheese salad and I had their soup special, cream of celery root, so good! Then we split two tasters and shared a small plate (a spicy crab and pasta dish, it was my favorite) and then we each had our own entree, she had seared blue fun tuna and I had the shrimp with pelenta. Everything was great and was definately worth the money:)"

  • "Had our last meal here after a week in San Juan. Food and service were both A++. Our table tried 3 salads, scallops, crab cake, beef tenderloin, risotto, flan, chocolate souffle. All delicious and worth a special occasion reservation. This restaurant is on the same level as the casino at the Condado Plaza Hilton."

  • "We chose Pikayo for a double celebration evening while in PR; a 50th wedding anniversary and a 49th birthday! What a wonderful evening! The service was impeccable, and the meal was divine. Try the grilled jumbo shrimp over polenta, scallops over mashed root vegetables, and the sea bass over asparagus. All divine! Definitely try the cheese flan and the soufflés for dessert. All decadently delicious!! From start to finish, there wasn't a detail left out, the staff was warm and attentive, the decor was beautiful and the meal was divine. I highly recommend Pikayo for a very special dinner experience."

  • "As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with a friendly face. All the staff were friendly and very professional. The food was exceptional. We ordered several small dishes and shared a large plate before having dessert. The food came out in a constant wave as not to rush us through each dish. I was extremely glad we dined at this fine establishment."

  • "5 people, 5 dinners, 3 appetisers, 2 desserts. All supreme! Grilled shrimp was my fave. Salmon was #2. You must try the souffle. We have been eating at Pikayo at least once a year for 6-7 years. Love it!"

  • "Our initial waiter was Brando, who was professional if not very personable. He had excellent knowledge of the dishes, and upon request brought our soup out piping hot. The two under waiters were what would make us come back to Pikayo, along with six out of six items ordered being delicious."
