A word from Pig and Khao
The Fatty Crew Hospitality Group has continued their expansion. The restaurant veterans have partnered with Top Chef contestant Leah Cohen to open Pig and Khao (68 Clinton Street) on the Lower East Side. The Southeast Asian inspired cuisine offers a variety of Thai and Filipino influences on the
menu including Crispy Pata and pickled mango salad (pork shank cooked in soy sauce and five spice garnished with coriander, crispy garlic served with a secret family recipe sweet and sour liver dipping sauce), Grilled Pork Jowl and Watermelon Salad (chili lime fish sauce, shallot, chicharron, herbs and toasted rice) and Crispy Quail Adobo (Szechuan peppercorn, coconut vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaves, crispy garlic, scallion and soft boil quail egg). Drinks will range from cheap canned beer to large format beer served Hong Kong style (drink out of small bowls), wine cocktails and a self-serve bottomless tap in the backyard

The food was delicous. The sisig
was my fave :) I can't wait to try the Crispy Pata next time as they were out of it by the time we arrived for dinner."

Simple outdoors area, surrounded
by tall buildings so no view. The hip hop music was way too load but the food............... fantastic. Thus, worth going."

Great service and authentic
Filipino food with a twist!"
Dined on 7/11/2014
Food was delicious and well
priced. Had the sizzling sisig and a delicious curry noodle dish in addition to the green mango salad. Service was below average. Took 15 minutes to receive first cocktail despite the restaurant not being crowded. Our waitress forgot to give us our check to sign. After waiting 15 minutes we had to go hunt her down. She shrugged her shoulders and admitted she forgot about it. Smaller complaint is that the water served is room temperature without ice. Perhaps that is intentional, but when one is dining outside during a hot summer day ice is appreciated. Food was great so I would try this again"

food was very good. seating and
service was a little slow."

The coconut rice....it will take
you to paradise...eat it."

Food was delicious. Only negatives
were that the music was very loud n too hot inside. But overall everything was good"

Recommended by friends we went on
a Friday night. Great service, funky atmosphere, creative dishes and drinks. Casual with high quality food."
Dined on 6/20/2014
We ordered a variety of small
plates: did not try the large plates so can't comment on those: Everything we had was delicious!"
Dined on 6/19/2014
Nice spot and hip food for this
east side pick. Loved the take on Asian food. Chicken wings special were amazing"
Dined on 6/18/2014
Food is outstanding. Unique and
delicious. Will definitely return."

yum yum yum. the best coconut rice
I've ever had. everything in this restaurant is delish."

Was looking for a filipino
restaurant in NYC and was surprised to find that the restaurant wasn't really a filipino restaurant as much as it was that some dishes had filipino influences but far from the original dish. It turned out to be more of a Malaysian filipino nouveau fusion with random interior decoration that was a melange of south East Asian artifacts but not really one country in particular. It was a bit hard to find but the food and service was really good but a little steep in price for what it was in my opinion."
Dined on 6/12/2014
The food was amazing! Atmosphere
was very trendy. Good for a date spot or a night out with friends. Will certainly be back for more."

I am so happy my first of what I
hope many visits to Pig ans Khao was simply amazing. Chef Leah Cohen really create an authentic and adventurous menu. I gave a 4 star for service because our 2nd round of drinks were forgotten and after we were told our first cocktail choice had ran out. That left us all confused about how a cocktail could run out on a busy Friday? This spot was at the top of my summer to do restaurants and I will definitely be back. "

Went here with my cousin and had a
great dinner. Mango salad, Sisig, Cod in Banana Leaf and Khao Soi curry. All so yummy. The curry was on the spicy side. I can handle spicy, but this was a little too spicy for me. It was delicious, though! I tried Sisig for the first time. While I had issues with the texture, my cousin said it was the best Sisig he ever had. The mango salad was fresh and flavorful. We didn't have space for dessert, but we saw the Halo Halo and it looked decadent. The owners were there and we chatted with them for a bit. Overall, a great experience. Would go back. "

Incredible sizzling sisig!
Attentive and friendly staff."

We had her wonderful thing and
were excited to try it but all of our food was mediocre, cold, the ribs were cooked poorly, sadly the tastiest part of the meal was the coconut rice. Perhaps we had an off night or a new chef? Cool spot, fun environment, and nice servers but we expected more from the food -which all tasted reheated. "

Getting seated was a bit of a
challenge- guy who was seating us seemed really distracted so kept forgetting about us (another couple actually left vs. waiting). However, once we were seated, service was great and we got our orders in fast. Food is amazing- the khao soi was my favorite, though sizzling sisg and pork jowl (w/ watermelon) were great as well. We always get the coconut rice on the side, but I would prefer jasmine next time I think (sweetness was overwhelming by end). "
Dined on 5/16/2014
This restaurant has earned its
stripes. As many have noted, the sizzling sisig should not be missed. Another favorite is the khao soi is absolutely delicious as well. My boyfriend and I split both with a side of coconut rice (amazing in its own right) and couldn't get enough of either dish. The cocktails were decent, but couldn't live up to the food. Most of the other people at the restaurant ordered beer. Halo-halo was fun, but not my cup of tea. My boyfriend on the other hand ate every bite. The decor isn't anything to write home about, but when the food is this good... who cares? My only complaint for this restaurant would be the noise level. I would definitely recommend adding some fabric or noise absorbing pieces to the decor. "
Dined on 5/16/2014
Food and service were great.
Outdoor patio in back was perfect for brunch with plenty of room for our stroller! Also being a hip hop junkie, I enjoyed the playlist we caught during our meal (J, Nas, Big)!! Def going back and recommend. "
Dined on 5/11/2014
I can't label what my favorite
type of restaurant is but if you cook pork 5 different ways, then I'm in. Also pork and watermelon is the greatest pairing ever. "

This is our favorite restaurant in
NYC - - wow what a vibrant, unique and delicious menu. We started off with the Donuts with Pandan Custard - so good we had to order a second! Shan Noodles were spicy, expertly cooked and wonderfully rich. Bahn Xeo has shrimp perfectly cleaned and cooked. Also fantastic is the sizzling corned beef hash served in its own small cast iron skillet. Tender chunks of corned beef topped with an egg - superb. Bottomless mimosas in orange, mango and lychee (the best) were freshly made - not out of a bottle and server was quick to ask if you wanted another. Entire staff was friendly and efficient and the music sound-track was awesome. Great way to start the day. Chef Leah Cohen is certainly one to watch. A+"

Cute space, good food. Prices are
a wee bit high. But the toughest thing is the eye, nose and throat-searing nature of the peppers being cooked in the ventilation-free cooking area. It's a bad sign when one wants to spend MORE time in the bathroom because at least IT has an open window. Honestly, I had to seek refuge there and also take break out front to escape it. So... hardly an enjoyable meal. Again, good food. Decent service. But I doubt I'll be back unless I get seated out in the garden."

Food was amazing. All the
employees were attentive, helpful, and super friendly. The bartender came over to my table to ask if I liked the drink he made me (I did... It was delicious). It has a young hip vibe... You can order bottomless PBR and they give you a solo cup and direct you to a keg outside. The music was mostly rap (tupac, Kendrick, etc) which is a first for me at a restaurant but weirdly fit the place perfectly (it wasn't loud or obnoxious). Literally my only complaint is that I thought the tasting menu was too much food but that's hardly a thing to complain about. We just took home leftovers. The Sizzling Sisig and Grilled Pork Jowl were our favorites. Fantastic place, would definitely go back (and I don't even live in NYC)."
Dined on 4/28/2014
The food was delicious and
interesting.I would recommend the grilled pork jowl dish."
Dined on 4/27/2014
This restaurant represents why New
York is still one of the words foodiest places. Every dish was unique and perfectly made. They must have some seriously talented chefs."
Dined on 4/26/2014
Brought my girlfriend there for
her birthday past Sat night. Found this place online and discovered it was headed up by a Top Chef contestant. Being fans of the show, that made it even more of a draw. Food was delicious and the vibe was very casual and fun. Even have a "self serve" keg of PBR in the back. Yea, it's pretty freaking awesome. Highly recommend"

You know you're in for a treat
when four hip Hong Kong Business men wearing funky suits and hairstyles straight out of a Wong Kar-wai movie are waiting to be seated infront of you. Pig and Khao does not dissapoint. Amazing authentic modern south east asian cuisine, cooked to perfection, and down-to earth professional service, with zero attitude - just great food, old school hip/hop/rap and a great atmosphere. Oh and did I mention the mindblowing "FTP" cocktail - sensational. "
Dined on 4/25/2014
Pig & Khao does not disappoint.
We were a group of five and just ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, and we not only had plenty to eat for about $30 each, but it is a laid-back atmosphere with friendly staff in a good downtown location."
Dined on 4/23/2014
An innocuous shopfront hides a gem
of a restaurant with an excellent menu and a good cocktail list. Intimate, cozy, perhaps small, but capable of accommodating groups at long tables, this is great for twos or fours. Service was excellent. Highly recommended. "
Dined on 4/22/2014
...for the food. We went for the
longanisa/ fried eggs and our family of 5 sampled as many plates as possible. Of course we had to try one of everything. Our teenagers loved the vibe. Sit down brunch was economical. The food served was fresh, innovative twists on Asian classics. Try the lychee mimosa, it's bottomless. The brioche and champorado were sweet finishes to our meal. "
Dined on 4/20/2014
Had heard good things and was
excited to finally try Pig & Khao but it was beyond expectations and seemed cheap for the quality of ingredients, creativity and amount of food. The pork jowls blew my mind, i could live on the coconut rice alone for months, the dorade was magically crispy even though served in a supremely flavorful broth. I'm coming back five million times."
Dined on 4/16/2014
This place was overall awesome.
Small family style restaurant. When you enter your greeted right away. The place is full of energy, the lights dim, candles lit, and everyone having good conversation. The food was uniquely made. I had ordered the tasting menu. From the brumese eggplant salad, pork sisig, cod in banana leaf, shan noodles and for dessert a wonderfully made halo halo. Everything I ate at this place was so tasty, not to salty and made fresh. The brumese eggplant with fish chips at first I thought was a weird concept. But when it came out and I tired it, it brings back a lot of memories from being back home (philippines). It was a warm and homey feeling. Definitely will be back and bringing more people to this restaurant."
Dined on 4/7/2014
The food is so delicious and the
service so unpretentious. And they play great hip hop and make great cocktails. What's not to love?"
Dined on 4/4/2014
Love this place, my favorites are
the pork belly and mussels"
Dined on 3/28/2014
The atmosphere was great for
hanging out with friends and enjoying great native food. Loved the music that was being played."
Dined on 3/25/2014
Would have been great if the
server had the crispy pata fired before the sirloin was started. Waited too long for the pata to come out. Food was great overall, will still come back to try other dishes."
Dined on 3/18/2014
Not one disappointment from the
cocktails, house made sodas, apps, small plates, and mains, to the atmosphere, service, and remarkably well-ventilated open kitchen. This was really some of the best Thai/asian fusion I've had in NYC and the best part was we didn't have to wait in line! I'm over all the hot spots that are too trendy to take reservations. Forgive me, but I like to go to a restaurant and have a table when I get there. It may be a novel idea to some, but I prefer to eat when I'm hungry. I'm so thankful P&K is on OpenTable. I hope some of these other places catch on. If not, I hope P&K reaps the rewards. I can't wait to go back!"
Dined on 3/14/2014
I came here with a group of
friends for my birthday brunch and we had a great time. Everything from the food to the drinks to the service was excellent."
