Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I have eaten there as a couple and with a group and it was great every time. There is above average food choices and drink listings and there service was always outstanding!"

  • "Outdoor seating is quiet and relaxing. Happy hour was wonderful"

  • "We are pretty predictable: tomato soup (thick and delicious), esspresso rubbed lamb shank (AMAZING) and dessert. But really you can't go wrong. Everything is so delicious!"

  • "I wanted to find somewhere with good food and nice ambiance, and Pig and Finch fit the bill quite (mostly)nicely. Lemonade: 3/5 Too tart, more like watered-down lemon juice concentrate and forgot sugar. Tomato Soup: 5/5 Thick and rich, with a dollop of creamy ricotta cheese on top. Perfect. Parchment Paper Salmon: 5/5: Perfectly cooked, tender and the greens/parsnips were delicious. Asparagus: 2/5: Overcooked. All I could taste was burnt asparagus. Chocolate Torte: 4/5 Very rich, loved the dollop of fresh cream. Service: Server was pleasant, but always seemed busy, even though the place was quiet and there were few customers on a muggy Sunday afternoon. My lemonade never got refilled. Overall: great concept, but needs a few tweaks."

  • "Great food but poor service detracted from the experience."

  • "the food was inconsistent. Two of us ordered the salmon--mine was very good while my friend's was partially raw. Same with the vegetables--some were very good--other vegetable dishes were undercooked, especially the brussell sprouts. Waitstaff was cordial but not very friendly. The dessert (caramel pot de crème) was excellent."

  • "some of the people reviewing Pig and Finch mentioned that the décor was "inappropriate" !!! when the restaurant is called Pig and..... what can you expect? as frequent European travelers we found this décor fit for the environment (we took great pictures!!!) the lamb ragout was excellent as well as the salmon"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The food is average at best and the ambience if dark and bar like."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "This was a first visit for us. We found the menu eclectic but with plenty of regular items to choose from as well. My wife and I started by splitting an order of the Mussels, then she followed up with the smoked salmon flat bread and I had the trout. All were very good. Wine selection was very nice as well but didn't overwhelm you. We will definitely go back."

  • "The food was excellent, the drinks were outstanding and the service was on point. I want to come back and try other items on the menu as it was all delicious. Well done!"

  • "I picked this restaurant out of a list based on the online menu. While the online menu was out of date, the current menu lived up to expectations. The marrow bones were excellent! The short rib was very good, but I will try something different next time. The service was excellent even though it was a busy night. While my waitress was busy with another larger table, the manager stepped in took my order for a drink after my meal was served. I will go back next time I'm in the area. Even though I was a table of one, I never felt neglected."

  • "Interesting menu that translates into delicious food. Great atmosphere for a gastropub."

  • "This was probably our 20th time at the restaurant. Everyone's food was just fair. Salad dressing was missing on the salads. The flatbread was undercooked. Asked for no butter on the fish and it was drenched in butter. The food came out at different times. The children's order was the last to come out. The service was soooo slow. They did take off the appetizers from the bill. Should have done more!!!"

  • "Enjoyed a Father's Day brunch. Everyone enjoyed it. Lots of variety."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The food selection is excellent and the ambiance great. Many of the dishes are twists on simple favorites e.g. the Mac & Cheese with rib meat added! Or, as my friend had, a pork shoulder with a coffee dry rub. Both were excellent. Be aware that the service is relaxed and a little slow. For us, that was fine because we wanted a nice relaxed evening. But if you're expecting quick and responsive service you might get a little frustrated."

  • "We went for lunch and a little pricey for lunch but the good, service and ambiance was great! The bar area was very nice and I would guess a great evening spot"

  • "My husband called it the best meal he's had in months - and that's saying a lot since we go to highly rated restaurants at least twice or more a month. I had the shrimp app. and a salad for dinner - more than enough food. My husband had a 1/2 order of the potato gnocchi and a side of brussel sprouts - which he raved about all night. Both of us had cocktails - a Manhattan and a Moscow Mule and all this along with a pretzel app. which was to die for came to about $80 with a 20% tip - an excellent value I thought for the quality of the food. If we're ever in the area again we will certainly drop by!"

  • "We had a great dinner. Service was just right. Our server checked in with us, but was not overbearing. The food was interesting and excellent. The rhubarb crisp was fantastic"
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "The service we received was very good starting with our server making a recommendation for me as I looked over the pretty extensive beer list. The P & F uses a number of servers to check on you and bring out the dishes as they are ready. We had an issue where our salmon was over cooked (note: we ordered it med. well) and brought this to the attention to our server when she checked on us. She immediately went to get the manager who thoroughly handled a reorder. While this was a problem that I am sure our server could have handled, it appeared that the servers are instructed to get a manager to handle these types of issues. My preference is that if the server can handle a problem, I would rather it not get escalated to a manager."

  • "Pig and Finch is an overlooked gem in the Park Place arena. It was a great night out and to be there on fish special night for me was a charm! Only odd thing was that they now charge for bread as an extra...I think that is not OK..."

  • "When I travel for business I always look to try new restaurants. The Pig & Finch was a nice find. I sat outside which was nice. The house salad was enjoyably with subtle flavors and grilled vegetables. The trout was very nicely done. I drank their wheat beer on tap that went nicely with both these dishes. I treated myself to the strawberry rhubarb crisp with the recommended tawny port. A great combo to end a great meal. I will be coming back."

  • "The service was awesome. The food was good. Friendly staff, nice area "

  • "Very limited menu, but it has other good qualities. The ambience would be excellent if it weren't for the very high noise level. Two of the four in our party loved their meals, but the other two did not. There was also an unnecessary upcharge for substituting vegetables for the french fries, which my friend was led to believe would not be charged. Our party also felt a little rushed by the Server."

  • "The food is very consistent. We have been to the restaurant over 30 times and we still enjoy it. "

  • "We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Great salmon for my wife and I had the pork, the sauce was a little on the sweet side. Got sides of grilled asparagus and roasted cauliflower. Very good. "

  • "There were six of us having a business dinner on a Monday night. We started with 2 plates of fried pickles. Several of the members of our party had never had fried pickles and they were very pleasantly surprised by the flavors. Two of us shared the butter lettuce salad which was excellent. Three of us ordered the soft shell crab special and all were pleased with the results. I couldn't finish my meal so I took it home and my husband gobbled up every bit of it with enthusiasm. The chef came out to greet us and explained his creation. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and appropriately attentive. Absolutely planning to return!"

  • "It's rare to find restaurants in KC that both have great food, and are also kid friendly. Pig & Finch is both. Great food for adults who don't want to go to Red Robin and the other poor quality "family" restaurants, and a kids menu that satisfies the youngest chicken finger connoisseur!"

  • "Pig and finch is a very good place to eat with good food. Overall a very good restraunt for the Kansas City area. "
    Dined on 5/14/2014
  • "Good food, but if you want a piece of bread with your soup &/or salad it's $5. Sides are extra and/or substitutions will cost you."

  • "I recently took my parents, who were visiting from out of town, for dinner to Pig & Finch. We sampled four appetizers, a soup and three entrees. Every single item was out of this world. Standouts were the Bacon Marmalade, Chicken Liver Pate (best thing) and Duck Cassoulet (best thing). I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Nick, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable and took excellent care of us. I cannot wait to return to work through the rest of the menu. "

  • "The food was excellent and the atmosphere great! The wine was not overpriced which is something we see a lot. It was nice to find this spot, great change of pace."

  • "Have been to Pig & Finch probably about 15 times. I would have to say that this time did not come close to being as good as the others. Sorry to see that on a Saturday night they were only half full. "

  • "As always, the food was great. I had the B.L.A.T. (with the egg of course!) which is a favorite. Also tasted the Ragout beef grilled cheese for the first time and it was delicious. The prices are very reasonable and the ambience is very comfortable. "

  • "We made reservations for Sunday, as the chicken dinner had been recommended as very good. We began with the Fried Pickle appetizer, which I highly recommend. Unfortunately, our chicken, when it arrived, appeared to have been prepared as a sacrificial offering to some unnamed diety Until now, I had never had "Blackened Chicken." The green beans and mashed potato sides, however, were outstanding, as was the cornbread muffin, which accompanied the meal. Pre-dinner drinks and waitstaff service were/was outstanding. While the chicken was disappointing, we will return, as we've always enjoyed Pig & Finch."
