Diner Reviews
  • "Food was good and affordable. Many locals eat there and that's always a good sign. "

  • "Great meal before the 8PM Saturday Broadway show. Was served quickly and the food was very good. It was crowded and since the restaurant is small, it was loud. It was a beautiful day, so they had the doors open, which added to the atmosphere."

  • "The only negative comment I have is that we had a 5:30 reservation and when we arrived there were two people siting at a table for four so we requested the same. The Host said that only if you got there before 5pm. About a half hour later he seated 2 people at a table for four. I certainly felt very insulted."

  • "After going to a nice show on Broadway we wanted dinner afterward. Pietrasanta did not disappoint. The salads and fresh mozzarella for appetizers were fantastic, the homemade pasta delicious, and the pork was so tender it literally fell off the bone. My only regret is not saving enough space to try dessert, but the pasta was so good we couldn't leave any on the plate for later. The staff was attentive without being obtrusive, and quick with everything. An excellent restaurant, and great for a nice night out on Broadway."

  • "Accomodating, large portions and great service. we can come in with table for 8 at last minute notice, willing to split bills."

  • "We tried Pietrasanta after catching a matinee. The food was excellent, prices reasonable and staff attentive and friendly. A bit small on the inside and best suited for couples or small groups. We will definitely be returning the next time we go to the theater!"

  • "Always enjoy the food, service, and moderate prices. Service oriented even on busy pre theater nights. Good and reasonably priced wines. Food comes to the table freshly cooked and hot. Small so reservations good but accommodates if possible."

  • "My friends and I lucked out in discovering tis marvelous restaurant in the heart of the theatre district last Friday night! We had a nice table by the window, the wine was delicious and not overpriced -- but the food! All of their pastas were fresh and homemade, and they were so good! My friend had the black pasta dish with shrimp, another had the spinach pasta and my cappellini primavera was just about the best ever hadm with tons of fresh sauteed veggies and I asked for a pink sauce instead of garlic and olive oil, which was delicious. We will definitely be returning!"

  • "When we walked in the restauant we were very skeptical. The decor is dated and could use a refresh, but we were encouraged by the Department of Health "A" rating on the window. It was all great after that first impression. A friendly greeting and great , no rush service was the order of the evening. We ordered two appetizers to share, a wonderful grilled shrimp and plolenta dish and a fresh and tasty Caprese. We ordered a nice bottle of white wine and two beautifully prepared chicken dishes. The bread was fresh, crusty and delicious as well. The best part was all of this for around $100! Quite a find at reasonable prices in the heart of the theatre district. Bravo!"

  • "Very good traditional old style Italian Restaurant. We went here on a suggestion of a friend and thought the food was outstanding , great service and reasonable priced. They had a nice wine list that included a list of $25 bottle of wine. I would definently return."

  • "This restaurant is good if you are going to a show . Ask for the price fixed menu if you want a three course dinner. I had just the chicken parmigiana and it was a large portion and very good."

  • "I frequent New York City, typically to see Broadway shows. As a college student, it is difficult to find a place in NYC that is 1. Reasonably priced, 2. Unique, and 3. Close enough to the theaters. This restaurant has it all! Although we were a few minutes late for our reservation, they held the table for us and we were seated right away. Note: Make a reservation because there is no standing room in the restaurant to wait for your table. As soon as we told them we were seeing a show, they payed us extra attention and made sure our food was out as quickly as possible. Piertrasanta had AMAZING house wines, and our meals were delicious. The pasta is made fresh in Pietrasanta, and is incredible. I will become a regular customer here!"

  • "Found this on my app. Reservation was quick. The entrance and seating by the front is a little off as there was no one there as soon as we showed up. But we were then quickly seated and were attended through quickly and pleasantly throughout the night. Very enjoyable service and good entrees."

  • "Not only was the food delicious, the service makes you feel pampered. This is a lovely, cozy little restaurant that is perfect for dinner before the theater."

  • "Visited Pietrasanta on a Saturday night between seeing two plays. It was a bit of a walk from the theatre but was worth it. It is a small restaurant with tight seating. Good when your table partners are interesting to talk too. Funny, when your table mates are out to impress someone and doing a poor job. We had one of each on either side. The wait staff was attentive and helpful when we advised we had a 8 pm curtain. The food was old school italian and tasty. The fettuccine verde was tasty and not too heavy. The cannolli was the perfect end to the meal. The house chanti was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. I would visit again when back in New York. I thought the meal was well priced and very enjoyable."

  • "Everything was very nice. My husband and I had a delicisous lobster bisque and our friends ordered the minestrone. Two people had salmon, two had chicken parm all were happy. Dessert and coffee are included in the dinner price fix for 27.00. Management is helpful, service very friendly and effecient. We are often in the theatre district and Pietrasanta will be on our "go to" list."

  • "My friend said her lasagna was the best & my "black" pasta with shrimp was delicious. If a restaurant offers homemade pasta I usually order it. They make all their own. Only issue was the time it took to finally get our check, & my entree's sauce, shrimp & asparagus could have been a little more robust in flavor."

  • "Great for New Year's Eve, relaxing, welcoming. They didn't mind that we stayed about 4 hours!!"

  • "Very nice Italian food--nothing too fancy, but very fresh ingredients, and everything artfully prepared. (We ordered everything from pasta and salmon to chicken as main courses, plus a yummy artichoke appetizer--all great.) Not overly pricey either. But: oddly for a place so close to the theater district, nobody asked us whether we had a show to catch, and when we did tell them they still didn't seem to take it in, dawdling just a bit before they cleared plates, brought the check, etc. We made our show in the end, but had to ask for the steps that made that happen (nicely, and they were responsive, but still). So while the service was friendly, I'm surprised that a restaurant in that neighborhood didn't do better on this."

  • "I had eaten at Pietrasanta twice before, once with a friend who had been there before and then again when I took my husband there after the theater. The restaurant is super-convenient to the theater district --- just a 2-minute walk --- and they accept reservations. The friend I took this time wasn't terribly impressed, saying that his lasagna was just a bit above average but nothing special. I, too, noticed that my meal --- gnocchi --- wasn't quite as good as the last time I ordered it. It had big cubes of mozzarella in it, which looked like tofu and made the dish look unappealing to me. The salads were excellent and drinks from the bar were very good. All in all, I'd go there again, as service was excellent, but it was just ok."

  • "Not exquisite, but always reliable ( sometimes the food is much better than ok). Very friendly staff, sensitive to tight schedules, a regular stop when we are on the move in NYC."

  • "I've been to Pietrsanta twice, both times before the theater. Friends went on my recommendation and were very pleased with the food and the help of the owner. The restaurant is small and feels like a neighborhood place. It feels like NYC to me. The staff is very cordial and check on your table just enough. The pasta is all freshly made and the dinners are inventive and tasty. I loved my orecchiette with sausage and broccoli, and my friend's pumpkin ravioli was also delicious."

  • "I think this is a gem of a place. Been going here for years and always have a good meal and quick. Perfect for pre-theater. The breads and pastas are very good!"

  • "Good food. Very accommodating, we were in a hurry due to theater tickets got us in and out in a little more than an hour. We were a party of four and all the dishes were well prepared, not exceptional but very good and a very good value."

  • "My mom and I got to the restaurant at 4 to make sure we had enough time to eat before our show. The sangria was very tasty. We ordered food off the pre fixe menu for 27.95 for 3 courses. The food was fantastic. She got a light chicken pasta dish and I got the rigatoni. My only complaint was that the Caesar salad dressing wasn't great and there was no fresh Parmesan on it. Other than that the service was great and it was just what we needed before the show!"

  • "I chose Pietrasanta based on recommendations for family friendly atmosphere with good Italian food. Although the kids enjoyed their food, the adults did not. The pasta and pizza are decent, but I would stay away from other menu choices. Not the place to try something new or different for sure. Service slow and inattentive. I will try a new Italian restaurant next time I am in the city."

  • "I took my family to New York for a fun weekend together. Our first night there we ate at Pietrasanta. It was just right for us. The food was very good as was the service. The restaurant had a nice neighborhood feel, warm and inviting. I would recommend it."

  • "Very cute and cozy place, with a European feel. First impressions may lead one to think it is a pizza place -- which they have.-- but it is much more. Solid Italian cuisine, good choices. All at our table LOVED our meals. Very good value, wine choices are limited. Not far from the theater district and worth the walk"

  • "Happy to be able to " go home" again. For years we went to Pietrasanta and after a couple of not great meals, stopped. We decided to give it another chance last week and are so happy that we did. The meal was excellent and service was efficient and pleasant . We will add it back into our regular schedule ."
