Last Saturday evening though, our experience was less than acceptable. We ordered from the Small Plates Tasting Menu as we have many times. While my order of the Coffee and Ancho Chili Rubbed KC Strip was as described, my wife's order of the Grilled Wild Salmon really should have been listed as a "sampling". I'm not exaggerating, the size of her salmon was less than 3 inches square, a much smaller portion (about half) than we have ever seen before. When we questioned the portion, we were told it was prepared correctly. Started with a cup of their wonderful Blue Crab & Corn Bisque, which is my favorite soup on their menu, followed by Filet Mignon Lili (Seared beef medallions, roasted garlic whipped potatoes, asparagus, artichoke hearts, Cognac demi glace), and finished with a mouth-watering slice of Vanilla Bean Cheesecake topped with orange-vanilla marmalade. Everything was presented beautifully and was done to a turn. When we went outside, we were confronted by a homeless person who requested our attention. Being from a small town in Minnesota, he caught us off guard. The food was prepared and presented in a very appetizing manner. The only reason I gave the service a good mark instead of excellent was the hostess. When I arrived the hostess wasn't available and after waiting five minutes she arrived and appeared to be annoyed that I was there. She had very poor eye contact and her voice was short and curt.
