  • "Food was good, service was excellent, Fish and chips, the fish was very good, chips needed help. Butter and garlic potatoes no butter flavor. All the Seafood was flavorful, but sides beefed some help."

  • "Due to SF traffic on Embarccadero, which took a 1/2 hr. & hard to find parking, we were 45 min. late for our lunch reservation. They laughed & seated us within 5 minutes. It was 3pm, but the place was hoppin'. We ordered 1/2 crab, chowder & ceasar salad. Messy & delicious! The garlic herb with the crab was yummy! I did ask for extra melted butter, tho~This was a late lunch before art class: a really fun day in the city!"

  • "This restaurant had a great view and great staff. The clam chowder was delicious! It was hearty and full of the good stuff! I had to come back the next day for seconds!"

  • "We chose to eat here after looking at reviews for seafood restaurants in the San Francisco area. On arrival, we were quickly seated by a window in the smaller room off to the side, which had a beatiful view of the harbor and sunset. Our server arrived promptly, as did our drink order and warm bread. Two of us ordered the clam chowder in a breadbowl, and it was delicious. The bread was fresh and the chowder was hearty. Another is our group ordered the Cioppino and he enjoyed every last bite. The Seafood Penne was cooked to perfection. We checked in on Yelp and received a free order of garlic bread, which was yummy. The service was outstanding, even when our server went on break. We will definitely return next time we are in San Francisco."

  • "Food was fine.Good restaurant to try while at Pier 39"

  • "The menu was great (I sampled with Ciopinnio which was beautiful with plenty of sourdough), full of seafood however I would have liked to see more non-seafood options for others. The service/waiter was very good and helpful for us tourist/travellers as well as a note of good sharp professional appearance. The toilet arrangement could be improved as the 3 times I went over 4 hours there was a long line and it seemed parents with kids were having trouble also. For a weekend lunch I would have liked to have seen a one man quiet guitar/singer maybe play some easy going tunes to improve the ambience. Overall our experience was great and we would love to go back should we travel back through San Francisco."

  • "Great service - reasonable prices for restaurant in a touristy area. Having lived in SF Bay Area, the food (comparatively) is good, nothing to rave about though (not bad, just nothing to go jumping up and down for)."

  • "I was surprised at the reasonable prices since the restaurant is located at Pier 39. Great view and great selections on menu."

  • "I went there, and people was so kindly. I order the Cioppino and it was just good enough. Nothing memorable. Place is nice, but maybe I didn't order the right dish for a tasteful experience. It was just a good experience."

  • "Food was just ok, no more than 2.5/3 stars. Service slow for a 530 reservations and with birds flying around we won't be back. :-("

  • "Our dinner reservation was excellent. Service was great and the food was delicious. We met friends who were in SF to catch a cruise ship on the Queen Elizabeth. They enjoyed the ambience, food, and the service was excellent."

  • "Pleasant dining experience. Friendly and efficient staff. Clam chowder lived up to its deserved reputation...fresh, plenty of clams, good broth. Grilled mixed seafood entrée came with a good rice pilaf and fresh well-prepared vegetables. For desert, Tiramisu - well made.Wine selection not huge, but enough choices, and very fair pricing.Sourdough Bread is from Boudin - fresh from the bakery across the street. The portions are large and I cannot imagine anyone leaving with a complaint of not having had enough to eat. This was a good meal in pleasant surroundings and wonderfully, in spite of the size of the room, noise is at an acceptable level. Parking is easy with the Pier 39 Garage a short distance away via the connecting bridge."

  • "I was there on a Saturday at about 11:45. It wasn't reallly busy yet. Ordered garlic fries. Nothing special about them. Entree order was Mahi Mahi, grilled with cajun spices, and grilled vegetables. The vegetables were greasy and unedible. The fish was okay, not greasy and somewhat flavorable. The waiter was friendly, but rushed to collect my plates, which made me feel rushed to leave. It was typical Fisherman's Wharf overpriced "tourist" food."

  • "Food was ok...service could've been A LOT better. It just so happened to be Restaurant Week, and our server had no idea. I'm pretty sure there are better options."

  • "Located on Pier 39, this energetic restaurant does not disappoint for Bay views, or happily, for delicious seafood. We came in the mood for shellfish and we're not disappointed. The mussels in lightly flavored curry coconut broth were delicious, as was the garlic roasted Dungeness (you must try the crab!!). I also had the mixed grill, which was prepared over mesquite. The swordfish melted in my mouth and salmon was also quite tasty. While not cheap (nothing Iban San Fran is) this place was cheaper than many of the restaurants we looked at, with just as good a view. Our server was also very attentive despite how crowded the place was for a peak Friday night. We will return next time we are in the Bay Area."

  • "When we first saw the place we thought that it would be just a tourist trap, but it turned out to have really good food and great service. I would definitely go back."

  • "From their delicious calamari appetizer to the complimentary biscuit after we paid the check, Pier Market is exceptional. We always bring out of town guests to Pier 39 and this is one of our favorite places for lunch or dinner. The view of boats moored along the wharf is charming, the food is very good, prices in line with their wharf competition and the service is great. If you're visiting from afar, don't leave San Francisco without dining at Pier Market! The cioppino last night was very tasty with lots of boneless chunks of fish, clams, mussels, shrimp and crab. Their clams with linguini is awesome. Their mahi mahi and their roasted skewered dishes were well portioned and very good. Our evening dining experience was absolutely wonderful."

  • "We enjoyed our first vacation in San Francisco. Since we were to be there over New Year's we thought it would be nice to book a reservation on the wharf to have a nice dinner. We picked the right place for sure as everyone was friendly and the food was wonderful."

  • "I was still eating my appetizer when my waiter came already with my main dish (Ahi-tuna). What a big no-no! Then the food was not good, barely warm and way overpriced (55 USD + tips for a small appetizer, a main dish and a creme brulee). Never ever again."

  • "The service has been excellent and the food was good. It has a nice and clear sea view but only with indoors seating. Outdoor seating is available as well on the peer which is nice for tourist watching. Overall a good place to grab lunch or dinner with friends."

  • "Our dinner was fabulous on a bustling night at Fisherman's Wharf after the Niners won and spending our day at the Aquarium. Our reservation was for 645pm, yet the hostess was able to squeeze us in around 5pm - icing on the cake! We happily skipped to our seats by the window with breathtaking views of the pier. We ordered everything from bowls of clam chowder to the seafood penne pasta. The catfish was cooked to perfection, my pasta was delicious, and the kids loved their shrimp on the barbie and fish/chips. We had to have dessert i.e., cheesecake and chocolate cake, along with dessert drinks Irish coffee. The only request is to serve LaCrema (our favorite wine) by the glass, not just bottle; hence, the title of this review ;-)"

  • "We discovered the Pier Market 4 years ago and drive over from Reno to celebrate my husband's birthday because it is his favorite place. You have to have the Sweet & Sour Calamari - it's our favorite! Anything from the mesquite grill is awesome. Great service and a water view finishes your experience! Highly recommend!"

  • "Everything but the crying baby at the other end of the dining room was great. Since I had a reservation, I was seated immediately upon my arrival. Portions tend to me a little smaller than at other restaurants. But the food is so delectable, and the tastes so satisfying, one is well sated anyway."

  • "Came here Christmas Eve for a special family dinner. We are from Australia and didn't really know any place In particular to eat at. Found this restaurant on Open Table. Loved everything about the place. Great food great service. Teenage kids enjoyed it also so we had a lovely experience here."

  • "My wife was disapointed with the 1/2 garlic crab. It was too oily and too small to enjoyed!!! But the clam chowder and wine was great!"

  • "It was worth it to be down on the Pier during the holiday season. The food was slightly above "tourist level chow" as one would expect on Pier 39."

  • "I made reservations in advance and good thing I did. People streamed in and out and tables stay full. Food selection is great and tastes even better! There could be many good reasons to go but where we were in the restaurant was a bit loud. We didn't mind at all but for a romantic dinner you may want to reserve a quiet area."

  • "We had the fishermans platter. The fish was very fresh and tasted great but the coating was loaded with frying oil. We ended up removing the batter from the fish. We prefer a breading rather than a batter. Less oil saturation. The chips were very crispy and tasted great. The service was excellant. We will come back again but won't have any fried fish."

  • "Went here with out-of-town friends we had not seen for a long time. Chose Pier Market because of broad menu in case someone in our group didn't like seafood. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and service was excellent! It was very open and loud, so probably not the best place for a romantic dinner. It met my expectations and I was not disappointed by the experience. Seafood was fresh, tasty and hot and we did not wait long for our food even though the restaurant was full!"

  • "We were being tourists and were dying for fresh San Francisco seafood. This place was right on the pier, with a great view of the water. My boyfriend and I came for lunch and ordered about 6 peoples worth. We just wanted to try everything, and it was all great. What stood out the most though was the service. Our server was extremely personable, gave us pointers on where to go and what to see, the manager brought me a new drink because the soda machine was broken (I didn't even taste anything wrong with my soda). And it was probably the best clam chowder in bread bowl of my life :)"
