Diner Reviews
  • "This is our second visit to Pier 500 and again, we were impressed with the ambiance as well as food and service quality. Probably the best bowl of chicken and wild rice soup this country has to offer! Great salads and incredible steak selection. Top notch restaurant!"

  • "An extremely well run restaurant with great food and service. I can't wait for summer to sit on the patio!"

  • "My family (boys ages 10,13) LOVE eating at Peir 500. They have excellent prime rib and walleye. The rotisserie chicken is my favorite and the pork chops are devoured by my children. The outdoor eating and scenic view are saved for the summer months! We have taken our extended family out for a fantastic fun night and my husband and I have enjoyed a cozy date night by the fire place too. Bubble hockey in the bar for the kidlets :) We plan on returning MANY more times! Make a reservation or you may have to wait bit. They have a pretty nice wine and beer selection to tide you over while you wait!"

  • "It was my fiance's golden birthday and he had never been to Pier 500, so I booked a reservation for us and his family that had also never been. Everyone loved the choices and all the food was great. Plus it was nice having our table of 6 near the fireplace because I am always cold! :)"

  • "Very good and interesting food. Our table was in the runway for the waitstaff and one of my guests had a cup of something spilled on her."

  • "Great place to get a bite to eat and good service and food is good. But can be noise at times."

  • "We have enjoyed the brunch on Sundays many times and can't get enough of the cheesy hash browns. Now that we have experienced the dinner, on more than one occasion, it's a tie as to which is better! The appetizers and beef are exceptional for dinner, although the fish is delicious also. Our servers at either time have been exceptional. They are knowledgeable and add some fun to the dining out experience. We can't wait to return and try something else new!"

  • "We always have good food at Pier 500. Love the view of the river and the rotisserie chicken."

  • "Pier 500 was recommended by a friend because of the brunch menu. My family and I thought we would take the chance and try something new. It is a longer drive than we would normally make for a meal. However, the meal was well worth the drive. Each member of our group tried different selections from the menu so that we could taste each option. Everything offered was delicious. The prices weren't too bad either. I especially recommend the Sunday brunch. We enjoyed our time so much, we already made reservations for our return visit. p.s. its still winter and very snowy, but once the river melts and the snow is gone, the restaurant will be packed and reservations will be absolutely necessary."

  • "I had dinner with a group of 4 and we had a fantastic time. We all really enjoyed the food, and specialty drinks. Our waitress made us feel rushed with drink orders, dinner orders, and paying the bill. Aside from that, we were all very happy with the experience."

  • "I asked a friend where we could go to eat...I wanted something different for my fiancé and I...he recommended Pier 500. So I made an online reservation and we went and it was amazing!!!! I knew it was going to be a little pricey, but it was worth every dime!!!! We were served very promptly and the waitress was very nice. I would definitely tell other people to try it. I had the prime rib and it was very good. My fiancé had the filet and it was more than amazing!!!!!!!!! We will definitely go back!!!! Very nice atmosphere and very nice people!!!"

  • "I love love love this place! My boyfriend and I had never been there before and we were so glad we tried it! We started with some Big Gingers (which were a bit on the sweeter side, but still great!) and Brie cheese curds which were heavenly! They were so good, it almost made our entrees pale in comparison! I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese which was fantastic and the boyfriend had Grilled Meatloaf which was super moist and delicious! We will definitely be going back when the weather warms up and we can go out on the patio!"

  • "Celebrated my 40th birthday with a group and everything was fabulous! Had such a special time and was not rushed through dinner. We had wine and appetizers and full meal and special dessert. Wonderful, friendly service. Food was incredible. Prices were fair for the quality of food."

  • "Had a great anniversary dinner there with my wife. Even though there were all kinds of people there from families to a "just married" couple, our experience was awesome. Except for the old flat Pepsi I was served - it was exchanged for plain water. Thanks."

  • "Pier was great from the start. Host greeted us with smiles and it just got better from then. Service was great and the food was even better. Prime rib was outstanding. Manager was friendly and professional and very funny all at the same time. Great place with a great view. Please don't miss out on Hudson's best."

  • "My wife and I ate here last weekend on Feb. 15. Our server was great as was the food. I had a new york strip that was cooked perfectly. The sides were also very good. The only thing the I didn't like was that I had requested a table by the windows when I made the reservation and we were seated in the middle of the restaurant while a table by the windows was open for about 10 minutes before someone was seated there. I could have asked to switch but isn't that the point of the request in the reservation. We would go back though I will now call ahead to get the seating I want. The windows look out over the river so it's worth the trouble to me."

  • "My first visit to Pier 500 was enjoyable, and I'll definitely go back. Both food and service were good. Our server handled small requests promptly and cheerfully ("of course!")."

  • "Dined there many times. Food is always good. We had a group of 8 for Sunday brunch at 12:30 to celebrate 2 birthdays. (parking over block away). Normally service is a bit slow but this time we kept having to stop other staff to ask them to find our waitress. Once food was ordered she really never checked back with our table for drink refills or check on food. I ordered the prime rib hash and about 5-10 min later I had to reorder - they were out. The food we received was very good but the waitress was scarcely seen anywhere near our table. Frustrating! All staff were very friendly just not attentive at all. I was also surprised since I told them it was a birthday occasion that there was no acknowledgement of it by the waitress."

  • "Terrific menu unlike any other I'm aware of in the upper midwest (who would have thought you could combine lobster with Mac'n cheese? Yup, they do it...and it's great!!) You can carry on a conversation without raising your voice but you certainly don't feel like it's a solemn, library-like environment. Watchful, attentive staff. Downside (for me) only Pepsi products for soft drinks."

  • "We had amazing service, perfect actually. The hot alcoholic drinks hit the spot on the cold winter day. The ahi tuna salad had really great dressing and the brie cheese curds are always a favorite of mine. Will go back!"

  • "We had reservations, but was not seated for 15 minutes later. That was ok because the bar scene was fun! We got seated near the fireplace and was great. The service was great, the food so so. I'll go back and try it again. Maybe the food will be better next time."

  • "We (party of 4) arrived early for our reservation on a Saturday evening so we decided to spend some time in the bar area for a cocktail and some appetizers. Our waitress was fantastic! As were the appetizers. Our bar waitress notified us when our table was ready but also told us to take our time and she would notify the hostess to hold our table until WE were ready to be seated at it. Our serving waitress did everything proper; however, she either did not want to be there or was not feeling well. She was not very pleasant but was never at any time rude. We would certainly go back if we are ever in that area again."

  • "Had a very good meal here!! Our server was adequate but not outstanding. We noticed the server at the table next to us was explaining what they were famous for and what the evenings specials were. Our server just went through the motions. The food however was excellent!!"

  • "We've been to Pier 500 numerous times. We've never had a bad meal. Service is always attentive, but not overbearing. In the summer, the patio overlooking the river is the place to be, but get there early if you want a table. They don't take reservations for the patio."

  • "Using Open Table for a reservation was perfect! No waiting in the restaurant for a table. Service was excellent! Food even better."

  • "I would recamend this place to everyone, I've had great service, great food here. In the summer time, this place is the best, right across from the St. Croix river, the patio is just great."

  • "We had taken out of town guests to Pier 500 several months ago. They came to stay again and we wanted to go out for their anniversary. They specifically asked to return to this wonderful place. We were seated right next to the fireplace and had an excellent meal. Best service I've ever had. Thank you so much."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation expecting to sit at the bar and wait but they seated us right away. I had requested a table away from the bar area and we were seated in a very nice area. The food was outstanding, we made changes/substitutions without one blink of an eye from the server. Great food choices, a good mix of unique and well-done classics. Great martini menu."

  • "This was a very nice experience - it is decorated beautifully, low lighting (which we like), and a relaxing fireplace in the dining area. We had excellent service, and a good meal. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that myself, my husband and son, all ordered premium dinners (Lobster Mac and Cheese, Scallops, and the most expensive steak on the menu (which was $48.00)). We were asked if we wanted soup or salad with that, we said 'yes'. Here they charged us an extra $5.00 for a caesar salad, over the $16.00 for the mac and cheese, same for the soup. Really, just say the lobster mac and cheese is $21.00 and include the soup or salad. To charge the extra 'under the table' was dissapointing. We will return but next time we know."
