  • "The food was fresh. The service was excellent. My wife loved her Lobster. It was our fifth wedding anniversary, and we chose to spend it at Pier 290. We were not disappointed. Everything went perfect."

  • "Do not order the burger. A strange creation that was very greasy. The rest of the good was great and the service was excellent"

  • "My wife and I went there to celebrate my birthday. We only live a couple of miles from it and have never been there so we thought we would give it a try. Very glad we did it was great. Kristy was our server and she was wonderful. We had the deviled eggs and Cheese fritters for apps. and they were great. Eggs had a very unique taste to them. I had the Briased ribs, fall off the bone and flavorfull. My wife had the grilled chicken and it to was great. Will go back. They try to get all their food locally when they can."

  • "Have been here several times now, lunch and dinner. Have not been let down yet. The entire experience of dining is excellent. From the time you walk in and graciously seated by the hostess to the time your walking out the gazing at the history of Gage's Marina. The food is consistent every time with perfect portions."

  • "Met some good friends here who have been before. The outside bar was great, food was great, people were very attentive and helpful. Great staff, great place!"

  • "The location and the service and atmosphere of this restaurant were really very nice. I went with three girlfriends. The food was really not very good. The cosmopolitan I ordered was not good either. Way too much of something in the drink. I ordered a NY strip (medium rare). It was dry and no flavor and served with some dry, tasteless pasta. My friend's steak was overcooked and dry as well. Neither of us ate much of it. My other friends food was good - a burger and some shrimp. They liked it. I didn't try it. Way too much money to pay for mediocre food. Maybe people don't mind paying for bad food during the summer because the view of the lake is so nice and probably incredible in the summer."

  • "Price of dinner for a guest and I was $93, but that included a $27 bottle of wine. Wine, which was one of the cheapest on the list was probably the best part of the meal. I had a steak that was very tough, and the salad that I got with it was very mediocre. My date also had a salad that looked like the lettuce was not the most fresh. Great atmosphere inside but the prices were way too high in my opinion. I don't think i will go back."

  • "We love the area and are thrilled to find a place to get great food in a seasonal area with servers who are not condescending. My husband is harder to impress and he lived everything about Pier 290. We invited a friend from the city and he loved it as well. We will definitely be back and can't wait to visit the outdoor bar. I don't know about brunch because I didn't notice a brunch menu. Kids were there and well behaved but could negatively affect the atmosphere if they were there and didn't want to be or were tired, etc."

  • "It was our first time at this restaurant and we will definitely go again. Great atmosphere and view of the lake. Two of us had the fish tacos which were excellent and my mom had the lobster roll. We split a piece of carrot cake which was big enough for all 3 of us."

  • "Wonderful food with very attentive staff. The live music was an unexpected bonus. I also loved that certain elements of the decor were repurposed from other places. Would definitely go back."

  • "The service was better than ever. Very prompt. The food was okay. The Caesar salad was so fishy that I couldn't eat it. The lobster was of good quality, but over cooked. The Brussels sprouts were amazing!"

  • "Not sure why they have any bad reviews at all. This place is fantastic. Fresh, local, grass fed ingredients. Fantastic food and wine. Great service and priced fair. Quite possible the most delicious piece of carrot cake, fresh and homemade, I have ever had."
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "The kettle chips appetizer was not very good. The blue cheese was not warm and we had very little bacon on it. The steak was pretty good. My guest had to ask to have them throw hers back on the grill because it was very rare. They forgot one of our sides and we had to remind them to bring it. The waitress was good at filling our wine glasses and trying to up sell us on items. She was also very good at making food recommendations."

  • "First of all the service at this place was superb. It is a casual but elegant atmosphere and all the service was attentive and polite. Also one of the few places I have actually been able to hear the list of specials offered because the server was audible, evenly paced, and articulate. Service aside, the menu has tasty, fresh, nice quality ingredients. I think the menu varies by season but we ate during late winter and had an excellent grass-fed burger, seafood chowder, mahi-mahi & quinoa, and a few other salad/ dessert items that amounted to a great and very reasonably priced dinner for two. Free valet parking was a nice surprise coming from the city parking we are used to. Great job Pier 290. We will visit again if we're ever in town."

  • "It just happened to be a quiet Monday evening. It was quieter than other times we have been to Pier 290 which made it rather romantic. We had a table near the fireplace which was nice for a very cold night. The food and wine were very good. We tried the Mexican coffee after dinner which I will surely get again! It was a warm, cozy, great food and drink kind of evening!"

  • "Even on a cold winter day this place makes one feel really great! The view is spectacular, the food was excellent and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. This has been a great addition to the Lake Geneva dining scene; has made other step up their game.l"

  • "Food is okay but not great. The food is priced to be great. The wine is good, but priced also way to high."

  • "Overall I enjoyed my dinner out at Pier 290. If you are going there to dine I would first tell you to check the online menu as the prices are a bit higher than most for the area. I had done this so I didn't go into sticker shock when I arrived. Our wait staff was lovely and the food was good. Be sure to have the Peanut Butter Bomb for dessert. It was delicious!"

  • "We were with kids and waited what seemed like hours for one dessert. Food was good, just don't expect to get out of there quickly."

  • "Great place to dine or stop in after dinner for drinks. Food is excellent with a comfortable atmosphere. Some folks came on snowmobiles! There is a big bar with quite a few tables surrounding the bar and a nice fireplace with comfy seats surrounding it. During the warm months, you can dine outside looking over Lake Geneva. There's also a sandy area to relax in with a drink while running your toes through the sand! It seems to attract all ages. A live band will play on the weekends. It's really a unique place!"

  • "Pier 290 lived up to its reputation. The prices were appropriate for the ambiance, level of service and quality of the food. It is casual enough to feel comfortable in jeans and a nice shirt but many patrons dressed up for their night out. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. We were made to feel welcome and catered to by our friendly server. We sat near the window overlooking the frozen lake and the fireplace burning real wood was nice touch. Both my wife and I give a Pier 290 a "10" for ambiance. The maître d' stopped by our table to check on our experience and seemed very sincere and open. We will be making this a regular spot and we look forward to spring so we can sit outside by one of the fire pits!"

  • "We went to pier 290 on a bitter cold night. We were so pleasantly surprised with the warm decor, service and delicious food. For the time we were there, it was if we weren't in Wisconsin! I would highly recommend this gem. It was romantic and charming. Everything, including the bread is made from scratch. We don't often have dessert, but had to try because they were all homemade...to die for. Enjoy!"

  • "Service and food great. Our party had the filet and fish. Both very good. We have been to Pier 290 for lunch also. In summer you can dock your boat and have lunch or dinner!"

  • "My girlfriend previously spoke highly of Pier 290, so I surprised her with a "date" night. Very friendly staff, great ambience and the food was very good. Now I can't wait for the weather to turn so we can enjoy an outdoor dining experience."

  • "Great place to relax with a glass of wine and sweet dessert. In my opinion, the food is not worth what you pay. Disappoimted in appetizers quality and quantity. I have no problem paying $250 for four people, but it better be food you want to brag about to friends.desserts were fantastic though! Lovely ambiance!"

  • "Service was exceptional, salad very good. Salmon was very nice, tenderloin disappointing-nothing tender about it. Nice wine selection."

  • "We had a variety of dishes and they were good. Slight temperature error but the management was there to take care of it promptly. We will be back"

  • "This is likely the best restaurant around, and the decor and view are incredible. The history brought together in the restaurant is remarkable and makes you want to hang around just to read and see it all. Wine list was good, however the food was slightly less than averages. Caesar salad was wilted, pasta primavera had no taste and we didn't even eat it; salmon was alright. The complimentary desserts were good however, and with the band and bar scene we decided to stick around for drinks and to watch the remainder if the game. I'd recommend the place for a view of local history, but manage your expectations with the food; or perhaps we just hit an off night."

  • "We stopped here on a recommendation from a friend. We were in Lake Geneva for a girls-getaway weekend and needed something for a late dinner. We ordered a mish mosh of appetizers and soups, but everything tasted great. Service was a little slow which was a bit surprising as they were not very busy that evening. I'm guessing that it turns into more of a "bar" later in the evening? We will be back next time we are in the area!"

  • "This was my first visit to Pier 290 and my wife and I had a great dinner experience with her family while visiting during Christmas week. The food and beverage offerings were outstanding, the fireplace was crackling and the atmosphere was very festive and inviting. The service was very friendly but slow, almost as though they were shorthanded. Can't wait to re-visit this venue during the summer when we can dine outside."

  • "We were in the area for a quick Christmas getaway and had dinner at Pier 290 on Christmas Eve. We were with our 13 and 10 year old. The service was outstanding and for was fantastic. I had the lamb, my son had the ribs, and my wife had the marinated half chicken. All were delicious and the sides of pumpkin mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were tasty too! The view was great on a cold winter night--it must be amazing in the summer---we will be back."
