"My date thought her food, the beef, was exceptional. I had the lamb sausage pasta and it was ok and unfortunately was served very luke warm at best. And it took way too long for our waitress to bring our wine order in the beginning. We sat upstairs and wondered if Piedmont is poorly prepared to provide great service upstairs."

"We had a group of 7 and the dining area was not full or busy. We placed our order at 7:45 and had to ask where our food was at 9 pm! We had a show at 9:30! We received our food finally at 9:10.

I had the vegetarian and there was absolutely no taste! There were only 4 choices of wine by the glass. I was surprised as I do enjoy Zely and Ritz!

Between extremely slow service(though the waitress was nice when we could find her) and lack of taste in food we aren't sure the prices are worth it!"

"It was Easter Sunday so the restaurant was not at all full and made for a quiet environment. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly and the food was excellent and fresh, fresh, fresh!"

"This was our first visit to Piedmont after being away for about 15 months. What a change! The food was still great, but the portions were small and the price was about $5 more than any other restaurant in Durham.I wouldn't get an appetizer again, $8 for a few pieces of lettuce. I ordered the pork and it was fantastic but as I mentioned before the portion was a bit too small. My father had the fish and said it had a nice flavor. My husband had the lamb which was shredded lamb formed into a ball. My mother had the pumpkin crusted chicken which we wouldn't order again. They were accomdating for allergies and had no problems modifying the menu for us."

"I hadn't been to Piedmont in a couple of years - not since it changed owners - but I was eager to try it again, since it used to be my #1 favorite restaurant.

Boy, was I disappointed with the new Piedmont. The menu was nowhere near as interesting or extensive, the portion sizes were small, and the waitress we had seemed either disinterested or disgruntled.

I'll not be giving it another try, sadly. Bye, old Piedmont!"

"The only negative thing was that we had to wait about half an hour to have our table even if we had a reservation. But the food was great and the ambiance very nice and quiet. The people were nice and the bill reasonable."

"The restaurant needs to be dimmed more so it has more of an evening elegant feel. The drinks were excellent but the vegetarian pasta and the lamb pasta were really bland. This is the second time I have been there and disappointed by the food."

"The fixed price menu option, the way it's presented, is confusing. Recommend that they put that menu on a separate sheet. Onto the FOOD. Appetizers were very good, although not the highlights of the meal. I started with a potato soup, and my husband got the "skins" appetizer of the day. Entrees were both FANTASTIC - my bratwurst was cooked perfectly, and the winter-spiced sweet potatoes were the perfect compliment. The accompanying collard slaw added the necessary "crunch" to the dish. My husband's pork leg was beautifully tender, and deliciously sauced. Desserts were AMAZING. I didn't leave a single morsel of my chocolate and sweet potato bread pudding. Highly recommend!"
