PiccoloMother's Day dinnerMade dinner reservations for Mother's Day also had flowers delivered to the restaurant. The wait staff was excellent they had the flowers waiting at our table and they were very attentive. Food was clean, vibrant and fresh. Many flavors in each single dish and all very well done. The texture of the dishes were equally as good as the flavors i.e. the flying fish eggs with the Couscous; absolutely wonderful.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTiny TastesPrepare yourself for refined eating. Nicely presented very small portions of unusual combinations that have been creatively thought out. Well explained by the wait staff, and our five courses evenly timed. Good wine selection.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAt First It Seems To Be ExpensiveReally. Five small tasting courses for how much? But then the food starts to come out, beautifully presented on the plate and explained by the server. Unreal pairings of tastes that not only work, they are incredible. The entire meal is relaxed and paced perfectly. There is time to chat and sip wine. And to eat some more. And then, suddenly, it is over. Surprisingly you are totally sated. You think back about the different plates you sampled. There was not one thing that you would not like to have again and again. Price? You stopped thinking about that with your first bite a couple of hours ago. For some amazing experiences, price really does not matter. Not at all.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgood things come in small packages. The word 'piccolo' means small, and the portions were notably so, but the flavor was oh so big. Fabulous menu and wonderful staff. Love this little gem!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fantasticHad the 5-course menu and was delighted by every dish. A great dining experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely 5 Course Prix FixeThey were able to accommodate a vegetarian guest on the 5 course prix fixe. It's a very intimate location and quiet, so you can talk without having to be loud. Thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience there and will come again.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMHighlight of the trip, a trueHighlight of the trip, a true foodie place but not unapproachable at all. Each dish is truly an aesthetic experience, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. I love the five-course tasting menu!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd time at Piccolo, always2nd time at Piccolo, always treated extremely well. Food was great as usual, staff was very welcoming. We celebrated our 5th anniversary that night and were sent home with a Happy Anniversary card signed by the entire staff. The small touches make this place the gem that it is.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSteep prices --> 4-stars onlyFantastic tastes! Small portions but intense flavor. Perfect for weight watchers who still want to enjoy life. Would go there more often if prices were a little lower though. But they have a small dining room so they don't seem to have a problem filling it. Oh well, reserve the place for special occasions then.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDazzling!Amazing meal!!
We had four in our party, and each of us ordered the 5-course tasting menu. The tasting menu allows the diner to select one of three choices in five different categories for a five-course meal. Reading the menu ahead of time made us a bit worried...fermented asparagus? Parsnip milk? Octopus bisque? Never fear. Every item on the menu (and between the four of us we tried literally every menu item) was dazzling. Presentation was perfect for each course. With an excellent red and an excellent white wine on our table, we had just the right complement at all times for the food.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual the food at PiccoloAs usual the food at Piccolo was outstanding. The wine list is reasonable and interesting with a good selection of wines by the glass and a nice full list. Doug is the most creative chef in the Twin Cities and his small plates are wonderful to share.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place! DeliciousLove this place! Delicious and creative food with friendly service; can't beat that. We come here to celebrate special occasions and this time around it was for our anniversary. Up arrival we were greeted with two glasses of champagne. The night ended with an anniversary card from the restaurant. I need more special occasions in my life...4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my 17 eyar old daughtersI took my 17 eyar old daughters to Piccolo for their birthday- along with my 14 year old son. My kids enjoy very good/innovative food- we had a great night. The food, as always, was great and inventive- with a wide range of ingredients - octopus, frog legs, rabbit, etc. Our server was attentive yet relaxed - we all had the five course menu, plus cheese and enjoyed it thoroughly. I consider this one of the top 3 to 4 places in the Twin Cities for excellent, innovative food - and probably the best value. A great night.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I went there forMy wife and I went there for the first time to celebrate her birthday. We made the reservation through Open Table, and I let them know we were celebrating her special occasion. We were impressed by everything, except that the space is tiny and the only water closet is unisex and just steps from the front door. They greeted her with a happy birthday, which was nice, and included a little candle on the desert, which is common. However, the unusual act that made her smile was the little happy birthday card for her in our check.
If you like fine dining and can handle smaller portions of food at a fair price, this is an outstanding local treat.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNothing Better than PiccoloHad just an outstanding experience at Piccolo. We were celebrating my partner's 50th birthday, and requested a special table. We arrived, were greeted with two glasses of champagne, and escorted to a private, quiet area with three tables. It was candle-lit, and beautiful. The food, service and ambiance were just amazing, and they treated us like royalty. We typically only dine at places like this for special occasions, and originally Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian at Disney World took our top-spot for our tenth anniversary over ten years ago. Piccolo has now replaced them as our favorite memory---it simply could not have been any better.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best restaurant in MinneapolisThe best restaurant in Minneapolis never fails to impress. About as perfect as a dining experience can be.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMas usual, an amazing experience.as usual, an amazing experience.

Server was friendly, informative and not a know-it-all snob! Both had the 5-course. Notable dishes were the duck, rabbit, lobster and egg with pickled pigs foot. Portions are piccolo so not a good place to share among many, but the tasting menu is a generous amount of food for the biggest appetites.
