Piccolo Sogno DueBeautiful dining room & great foodLove dining here!!! Great food and ambiance ... I think chef Tony is creating some wonderful dishes!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! This is becoming my favorite restaurant. I eat there at least once a week and have the kale salad and pasta. All their pastas are terrific (the appetizer size is pretty substantial). Their daily specials are always worth trying. Among the deserts, the panna cotta is the best.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Authentic Italian FoodThe food was so good, so authentic. It reminded me of the Nona's great touch and balanced flavors. Thank you for an amazing evening of good food and wine.
The perfect spot for a dine-out with amazing service.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Piccolo SognoThe food at Piccolo Sogno Due is consistently good from the antipasta bar to the monk fish. My favorites are the salmone (grilled Loch Duart Salmon) and the gnocchi (spring nettle and potato dumpling). I love the energetic atmosophere at the restaurant and the great wait staff. Definitely one of the better Italian restaurants in a city (Chicago) known for great Italian restaurants.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI was there when it firstI was there when it first opened and thought it had no relationship to its sister restaurant Piccolo Sogno on Halsted and Grand.
Needless to say they have really improved the menu, the ambience and the service. Loved the spicey mussels..I wanted a quart of the sauce to go.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousAll the dishes looked great on the menu, and what i ordered was delicious when served. Can't wait to go back to try more items.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal. Food was greatGreat meal. Food was great (especially the kale salad and the roasted fish) and the service was perfect.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMsuper spotIn town for a few days and found PSD. What a treat! Fresh favas with pecorino and rocket. Great fried calamari! Lamb two ways and a terrific, perfectly cooked veal tenderloin.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerWent this week for dinner. Reservation was for 7 pm on a Saturday night for 6 people. 30 minutes before 7 pm our group realized we would be 45 minutes late and have an extra person. Restaurant accommodated without any attitude, which for a Saturday night and being packed, was not expected. Group ordered assortment of appetizers, pastas, pizza and carne and really there wasn't a bad dish for the table. Highly recommend.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were excellent, our server was friendly and profesional as was her support staff4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPiccolo Sogno is my favoritePiccolo Sogno is my favorite Italian restaurant. It is one of the few restaurants that serve my favorite Italian pasta dish of all time - spaghetti nero - black spaghetti. Plus having been to Italy, it is the closest to experiencing what I had there. I can also practice my Italian with the staff :)4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved It!First time diner at Piccolo and I must say that we were impressed. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the vibe from the place was really good. Be prepared for very attentive servers though. They are on top of their game; moving plates, bringing food, refilling drinks...4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMit is noisy - so people shouldit is noisy - so people should be aware - i think larger groups will have a hard time hearing the table conversation-
having said that - the experience is unparalleled when it comes to the staff and service - from the minute you walk in the door to the time you leave - the backbone and uniqueness hinge on them- 10+ for staff/service.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways WonderfulWe have been to Piccolo Sogno Due three or four times and have never been disappointed. We absolutely love the food. It is creative without being too precious, authentic Italian, the pasta is homemade (ravioli is crave-worthy,) wine selection is complete and high quality, service is attentive. Really, the restaurant has it all.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe decided to try PiccoloWe decided to try Piccolo Sogno Due as an after theater venue as a result of our many fine dinners at its other location. The service was outstanding from being greeted at the door thru the meal. Our wait person was Jen. We frequently like to try different appetizers and side dishes rather than ordering a traditional course dinner and we found the menue very condusive to this preference. The calamari salad, kale salad and black fettucini with shell fish were all excellent and we finished up with an assortment of blueberry and chocolate gelato and blood orange sorbet which were a wonderful combination.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good service!! FoodVery good service!! Food was so good and we wanted to try everything. Need to return to try more dishes. It was our anniversary and we made a great choice. Love the biscotti cookies!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favoriteConsistently great food with wonderfully attentive service.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I celebratedMy husband and I celebrated our anniversary and had a great time. Food, service, wine was outstanding. Tony and Ciro have another hit on their hands!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably very good and creativeReliably very good and creative Italian and Sicilian food.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was excellent,The service was excellent, although maybe too excellent in terms of the number of table checks servers made. I know there's a fine line, but I was dining with my sister, who was visiting from out of town on business, and we would get in to our conversation and really what seemed like every few minutes we were asked if everything was okay. I appreciate the attention, but it was disruptive. The food was good, not excellent, except our dessert. We shared the chocolate, pistachio, cherry thing. Delicious, because of the cherries. The prices were very reasonable. I love the room, decor, and location. I would go back for the ambiance, service, and prices, but not necessarily the food.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good food andConsistently good food and attentive service. One of my favorite spots.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWeeknight dinner for two thatWeeknight dinner for two that began with a 'special' roasted vegetable appetizer that was larger than expected. It was an entire platter of wonderful food.
An octopus appetizer was perfectly prepared and presented. Roasted veal and sea-food mix entrees were equally spectacular. Desert was beautifully presented.
Reservation honored timely.
Total bill, with two glasses of Prosecco, was $130; most reasonable for the area.
One reservation: Floor staff is well trained. The cooperation is evident in their work. However, they are all Latin, and while they speak perfectly fluent English, they prefer Spanish when communicating among themselves. It is audible to diners.
Make this a regular stop while downtown.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food!! Great service!!! MFabulous food!! Great service!!!
Menu was filled with so many choices that would make me happy. To start, the balsamic on the table was so good I bought a bottle. Beet and goat cheese appetizer was to die for! Boar Ragu over Papardelli was the best I ever had. My friend had the veal...could not stip saying it was the best meal he ever had! Split the Canoli for desert - by FAR, BEST ever!!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNice find close byThe staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, although it was a busy Saturday night. The food was outstanding. My wife had the lobster and ricotta stuffed pasta and I had the black spaghetti with seafood. We finished with best chocolate molten cake ever.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMwe really enjoyed our timewe really enjoyed our time there, It was very noisy and hard to talk and hear anyone. Both times our wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable but not pushy. Food is wonderful and it's a great location. Husband had the turbot which was outstanding.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the first greeting, weFrom the first greeting, we were warmly welcomed. The antipasto of grilled vegetable, cheese, and prosciutto plate was one of the best I have seen. The pappardelle pasta with wild boar was luscious. I will be back.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSometime you worry about aSometime you worry about a second location for a good restaurant - have no worries here. The food is impeccable as is the service.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous meal! We love theFabulous meal! We love the food, wine and the people!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, fun atmosphereThis is a great place to come and have fantastic food and enjoy a night out with a vibrant if not buzzing setting. This is probably better for nonromantic dining because so much is going on - couples dinner would be perfect. It's a scene joint right now for sure, it has some feel of the original but has similarly delicious food and its reasonably priced. The Polpo is insane - could have ordered 3 for myself. Definitely a place worth checking out and returning.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHad 2 friends in town andHad 2 friends in town and wanted to take them somewhere nice. This was the perfect place. We had amazing wine and the food was delicious. Thanks for a great time!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are huge fans of both PicoloWe are huge fans of both Picolo Sogno locations. We like the menu better at Due and we like the ambiance at the original location better - and they have an amazing patio.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother fine meal...I love the original but Due is in the Loop and thus very convenient. Four of us had a great diinner featuring the day's special antipasti, consisting of grilled vegetables, prosciutto and olives; three of us had the whole Branzino (Mediterranean Sea Bass) which was deboned in the kitchen--delicious; one had the lobster filled ravioli and found it great. Wine by the glass selection was good. Service very attentive.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently wonderfulExcellent creative traditional and modern Italian dishes. The pizza is a great appetizer. The whole Branzino was wonderful. A chilled Moscato and some caramel gelato finished nicely.3/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest italian food in chicagoBest italian in Chicago. Love that the salads are lightly dressed. Amazing olive oil and vinegar to go with the delicous homemade bread. Love that you can get the pasta in appetizer portions. Nothing bad to say ever about this place.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect dinnerWe had an outstanding dinner on this, our first visit to Piccolo Sogno Due. The prawn appetizer was out of this world -- tender, flavorful and warm. Just perfect. The pastas we choose for dinner were also perfect -- the best bolognese sauce this side of Italy, with perfectly cooked home made pasta and tortelli with a buffalo milk ricotta and parmesan in a saba sauce. Simply phenomenal. The service was delightful, the room charming. We loved it and hope to go back on our next Chicago visit.2/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOur restaurant week lunchOur restaurant week lunch menu was truly a bargain. The main course of ahi tuna was delicious.2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is very good andThe food is very good and creative. Very thin crust pizza makes a good appetizer. Excellent Italian wine list.
