Piccolo Sogno DueItalian Diniing RomanceThe service was outstanding. We loved the antipasti appetizer. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table was fantastic. The assortment of breads is so delicious. We ordered the Veal Scallopine and loved it. One in our party of four thought the risottto was a bit salty. The Stratticella gelato and special amaretti desert were heavenly. You do really get the feeling you are on a mini vacation to Italy with the servers using Italian pleasantries. The Dining Divas6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!Mediterranean sea bass with citrus-caper - mouth watering. ... even if you don't have room for dessert, you MUST. Chocolate mousse with cherries that are unforgettable.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPiccolo Sogno Due is incredibleFrom being greeted at the door by the charming maitre d with an Italian accent, everything was perfect. Servers very attentive but not overbearing, food was served piping hot so you can fully experience all the flavors and a menu with a wide variety of offerings that would satisfy any palate. I had the kale salad which felt like an updated / creative version of a caesar salad using kale and fennel... really marvelous. The pappardelle wild boar entree was fabulous with extremely generous portions of wild boar ragu that melts in your mouth. Fabulous dining experience and would definitely return on my next trip to Chicago.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMbeautiful placeI love sitting in or outside at this restaurant. I've had the roasted beet salad twice now and a cucumber gazpacho that were excellent.
I love the panna cotta on the dessert menu. I'll go there again.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat are you waiting for?Ths is the place to have that business lunch, dinner with friends, or see movers and shakers. Food is excellent Tuscan. Among the best Italian you'll ever have. Make reservations...for sure!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and nice environmentI had a business associate come in from Texas at the last minute, but we were able to snag a fairly early dinner reservation on a Thursday night. The squid ink risotto was out of this world and I always like the kale salad. My associate loved his ravioli. The place filled up after we got there, but service was much better than my prior visit, which was in prime time on a Saturday night.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen I walked in the greetingWhen I walked in the greeting I was given was warm and friendly. The aroma of the food was fantastic. I used to be in the hospitality industry so I can appreciate when food is plated properly and makes you want to view it before eating it.
I was meeting with new clients for lunch and it was a very pleasant experience.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Evening of Dinner and TheaterMy wife and I went to Piccolo Sogno before going to "The Book of Mormon". This was our first time at the restaurant., and it was wonderful- the highlight of the evening. I would love to return to make the only event of an evening. This is my new favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. Now we have to try the original Piccolo Sogno.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMJust as good as the Halsted LocatioPiccolo Sogno Due sports much of the same menu from the Halsted location as well as the excellent focus on service, quality Italian food, and choice wine list.
You can't go wrong heading here for a business lunch or an evening meal.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good!Have always liked Piccolo Sogno so wanted to try Due! The homemade pasta was delicious. Could use a couple of more desserts!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFIrst class restaurant. NotFIrst class restaurant. Not pretentious, but excellent service and food. Couldn't ask for anything more.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional Italian SeafoodPiccolo Sogno Due was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel and we were SO impressed. The menu had so many enticing options, it was hard to choose. The waiter did offer some suggestions and in the end we were very happy with what we chose, I only wish they were open for lunch the next day as we would have liked to go back before we left Chicago. The meal was exceptional and very reasonably priced too! A HUGE wine list with a very wide range of prices and the service was excellent. If we are ever back in Chicago will definitely return!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday CelebrationMy husband and I made reservations on open table and noted it was a birthday celebration, but when we arrived they gave us a
small table in a crowded area..we did ask for another table that was more secluded and then the service, food and atmosphere was nice. We had the whole branzino fish platter which was great.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWork lunch was perfectI had "a flock of bosses" in town for a lunch, and they all loved the food, and the server was great. They commented on beet salad and one of the meat entrees, the ravioli was high quality and good portion (not too huge like some of the chains), and the house salad was suprisingly simple and good. They came back in a decent time so it seems the kitchen is on point for speed as well.
THANK YOU!!!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the second time IThis is the second time I have eaten here and when I am in Chicago this is always going to be one of my "go-to" spots! The food is delicious and I am in love with the Kale salad and the pasta is truely fresh!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful dining room & great foodLove dining here!!! Great food and ambiance ... I think chef Tony is creating some wonderful dishes!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMStill working out the kinksThe food was again wonderful on our 3rd visit to the second edition of Piccolo Sogne. However, the service was spotty. Our waiter had excellent knowledge of the menu and was helpful, but, there was a lengthy wait between courses and our water glasses sat unfilled for quite sometime. There seemed to be confusion among the staff.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBecoming a favorite placeAfter three or four visits, Piccolo Sogno Due is becoming a favorite place for dinner before theater. We are always welcomed as if part of the family and made to feel as if we are getting special attention. Service is excellent - prompt without ever rushing. The food is usually very good. In this last visit, the food was good, but not excellent. The zucchini blossom appetizer had too heavy a breading, and I was disappointed that the artichokes in my Monk fish dish were canned ... it is May, and artichoke season after all. But we have had very good meals overall and will definitely be back.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAn oasis in the cityLunch at Piccolo Sogno Due is a respite on a busy workday. The staff is gracious and attentive. The food was outstanding. A fantastic dining experience in the middle of the work week. The grilled seafood with arugula was perfectly cooked. Service was efficient and attentive without being overbearing. I can't wait to go back.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! This is becoming my favorite restaurant. I eat there at least once a week and have the kale salad and pasta. All their pastas are terrific (the appetizer size is pretty substantial). Their daily specials are always worth trying. Among the deserts, the panna cotta is the best.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPiccolo Sogno, get your reso in fastTook My Mom to PS on mothers day, last minute reso through Open Table, we had to sit in the soon to be outside area (it was 50 on mothers day).....had we gotten our reservation in earlier maybe we would have gotten to sit inside. Oh well food was great.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Authentic Italian FoodThe food was so good, so authentic. It reminded me of the Nona's great touch and balanced flavors. Thank you for an amazing evening of good food and wine.
The perfect spot for a dine-out with amazing service.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Piccolo SognoThe food at Piccolo Sogno Due is consistently good from the antipasta bar to the monk fish. My favorites are the salmone (grilled Loch Duart Salmon) and the gnocchi (spring nettle and potato dumpling). I love the energetic atmosophere at the restaurant and the great wait staff. Definitely one of the better Italian restaurants in a city (Chicago) known for great Italian restaurants.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI was there when it firstI was there when it first opened and thought it had no relationship to its sister restaurant Piccolo Sogno on Halsted and Grand.
Needless to say they have really improved the menu, the ambience and the service. Loved the spicey mussels..I wanted a quart of the sauce to go.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousAll the dishes looked great on the menu, and what i ordered was delicious when served. Can't wait to go back to try more items.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal. Food was greatGreat meal. Food was great (especially the kale salad and the roasted fish) and the service was perfect.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMsuper spotIn town for a few days and found PSD. What a treat! Fresh favas with pecorino and rocket. Great fried calamari! Lamb two ways and a terrific, perfectly cooked veal tenderloin.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerWent this week for dinner. Reservation was for 7 pm on a Saturday night for 6 people. 30 minutes before 7 pm our group realized we would be 45 minutes late and have an extra person. Restaurant accommodated without any attitude, which for a Saturday night and being packed, was not expected. Group ordered assortment of appetizers, pastas, pizza and carne and really there wasn't a bad dish for the table. Highly recommend.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were excellent, our server was friendly and profesional as was her support staff4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPiccolo Sogno is my favoritePiccolo Sogno is my favorite Italian restaurant. It is one of the few restaurants that serve my favorite Italian pasta dish of all time - spaghetti nero - black spaghetti. Plus having been to Italy, it is the closest to experiencing what I had there. I can also practice my Italian with the staff :)4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved It!First time diner at Piccolo and I must say that we were impressed. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the vibe from the place was really good. Be prepared for very attentive servers though. They are on top of their game; moving plates, bringing food, refilling drinks...4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMit is noisy - so people shouldit is noisy - so people should be aware - i think larger groups will have a hard time hearing the table conversation-
having said that - the experience is unparalleled when it comes to the staff and service - from the minute you walk in the door to the time you leave - the backbone and uniqueness hinge on them- 10+ for staff/service.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways WonderfulWe have been to Piccolo Sogno Due three or four times and have never been disappointed. We absolutely love the food. It is creative without being too precious, authentic Italian, the pasta is homemade (ravioli is crave-worthy,) wine selection is complete and high quality, service is attentive. Really, the restaurant has it all.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe decided to try PiccoloWe decided to try Piccolo Sogno Due as an after theater venue as a result of our many fine dinners at its other location. The service was outstanding from being greeted at the door thru the meal. Our wait person was Jen. We frequently like to try different appetizers and side dishes rather than ordering a traditional course dinner and we found the menue very condusive to this preference. The calamari salad, kale salad and black fettucini with shell fish were all excellent and we finished up with an assortment of blueberry and chocolate gelato and blood orange sorbet which were a wonderful combination.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good service!! FoodVery good service!! Food was so good and we wanted to try everything. Need to return to try more dishes. It was our anniversary and we made a great choice. Love the biscotti cookies!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty loud, so likely betterPretty loud, so likely better suited for larger parties. One of my favorite spots.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a very nice dinner withHad a very nice dinner with my mom and sister (she live locally) we shared a pizza, 2appetizers and one pasta. All were delicious and we had plenty to share. Also wine by glass was very reasonable and I enjoyed my selection.
The noise level is very loud, but sadly this seems to be the norm for every restaurant these days. Don't expect to be able to hear your dining companion when the restaurant is busy...
Would love to go back though for the food !4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWeeknight dinner for two thatWeeknight dinner for two that began with a 'special' roasted vegetable appetizer that was larger than expected. It was an entire platter of wonderful food.
An octopus appetizer was perfectly prepared and presented. Roasted veal and sea-food mix entrees were equally spectacular. Desert was beautifully presented.
Reservation honored timely.
Total bill, with two glasses of Prosecco, was $130; most reasonable for the area.
One reservation: Floor staff is well trained. The cooperation is evident in their work. However, they are all Latin, and while they speak perfectly fluent English, they prefer Spanish when communicating among themselves. It is audible to diners.
Make this a regular stop while downtown.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food!! Great service!!! MFabulous food!! Great service!!!
Menu was filled with so many choices that would make me happy. To start, the balsamic on the table was so good I bought a bottle. Beet and goat cheese appetizer was to die for! Boar Ragu over Papardelli was the best I ever had. My friend had the veal...could not stip saying it was the best meal he ever had! Split the Canoli for desert - by FAR, BEST ever!!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNice find close byThe staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, although it was a busy Saturday night. The food was outstanding.
