  • "Great restaurant - sea bass had great presentation and then deboned in kitchen. Will definitely return but the drinks were quite expensive."

  • "My wife and I visited Chicago for 4 days and this one was on our short list. Arrived on time and seated immediately at an excellent four top. Pasta dishes were very well prepared and seasoning was balanced (not too salty or too bland). We had tasty ucchini blossoms to start. Best Italian food outside of Badia a Coltibuono! Excellent and well-priced wine list. Hosts and servers were gracious and friendly. Very comfortable and room noise was moderate. Recommend highly."

  • "Great Italian food!! Third time and still love it"

  • "Although we had to wait a while for our table (which may have been due to outdoor diners coming inside due to rain) the maitre d, comped us with a pizza appetizer, which was delicious. MY wife then had a salad and I had minestrone soup. bother we tasty. My wife ordered a pasta dish with an Alfredo sauce and mushrooms, which was full of flavor. I had monkfish, which is hard to find but one of my favorites. It was delicately cooked with a light sauce with did not mask the flavor of the fish. I especially liked the aged balsamic vinegar, thick and bursting with flavor which accompanied the varied bread basket. Prices are downtown prices, but the quality made it worth the cost."

  • "My husband hates to try new ANYTHING. He loved it and if you can please him, you've really done everything right. It was great! The food was marvelous--I even ate dessert!"

  • "One of my favorites in Chicago overall and my No. 1 Italian."

  • "My husband and I dined at piccolo sogna due on a Thursday evening and were very impressed! The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Their risotto special was fantastic and their prosciutto was so fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Loved our evening at Piccolo Sogno Due! Interior is beautiful with ambiance that makes you feel like you are dining with family. Great place for business dinner or out with friends and family! Service was attentive and not rushed. We enjoyed dining outside which has been decorated beautifully with an awning overhead and plants and flowers which gives the feeling of being in a garden. Noise level was unnoticeable since we were seated away from the street. We shared 2 entrees the sea bass special for the evening and ravioli on the menu. The fish was prepared whole and presented to us at the table before they took it back to the kitchen to debone and plate. The ravioli was excellent and we both agreed we would order it again."

  • "My only complaint was the noise level. Guess that can be expected when all tables are full."

  • "We were pleased that it was a quiet evening so we could talk with our friends. The food was very disappointing, particularly the grilled calamari salad. The calamari was more braised then grilled and therefore very chewy. It was awful and the waiter defended that it was ok. Well, it wasn't. The pasta neri was awful, not as the menu described. Also, the waiter was difficult to understand and didn't seem interested in being helpful. The bread pudding looked like toasted croutons. Seemed very off the night we were there. The host/manager was uninterested in seeing how things were. I will never go back."

  • "This was our 5th dining experience at Piccolo Sogno Due and we were as delighted as on our first dinner here. Everything works together to make it a perfect dining experience. The warm welcome, the ambience of the room, the helpful and friendly waitstaff and of course the delicious food of creative preparations and served with grace and style. We certainly will return for a 6th dinner."

  • "Tables were too close together and couldn't hear my date well at all. Food was incredible."

  • "I ate here on a Saturday night and the staff kept rushing our my date and wanted to take our food. Plus the staff addressed us in Spanish the entire night. The minute we received our food they wanted to take it away and told us to hurry up because they are closing soon. Food was great service was very poor and the staff is rude."

  • "This sister to Piccolo Sogno offers similarly good Italian fare. It is a solid experience - not gaudy or over the top, and nicely conversation-friendly. As expected - the wine list, while generous, is very pricey."

  • "Group of 6 for my birthday. Seated right away, unsmiling server took drinks order then another much nicer server seemed to take over dinner from there. Food was adequate but nothing memorable, my monkfish was bland and no one else had compliments for the food. Good wine choices. Very loud restaurant, it's small and gets loud very quickly as it fills up. Nice table seating on sidewalk along Clark (west side so no afternoon sun). It was a decent enough place for a meal but between uninspired food and the noise level, I don't expect to return."

  • "The Salmon compares very well or better than most seafood restaurants"

  • "Waited 45 minutes past our reservation because customers stayed 2 1/2 hours sitting outside. Would have been nice if manager had ask them to move to the bar instead of waiting 45 minutes AFTER they had paid their bill. The bar was small and crowded - not a good place to be standing waiting for a table. Even after waiting no one offered us a free cocktail, appetizer or dessert. The gnocchi was delicious, but the pulpo (octopus) was over-cooked; burned on the ends. Our waiter and the bus boys were very attentive. Maybe it was just an inexperienced management that night, but I think I would rather try the other Piccolo to see if the experience could be improved."

  • "Either of the Piccolo Sogno restaurants are fabulous for people who enjoy real Italian. I have receommended this to people from a small town, who were expecting Pizza Hut style pizza & spaghetti with meat balls. Probably should've sent them to Lou's. For everyone else, it's amazing! The wait staff are mostly Italians who know all about the menu & wine list, have great suggestions and are exceptionally attentive."

  • "Went there because Piccolo Sogno was booked. Great friendly service. Convenient for us from "L". Food was presented beautifully. I highly recommend the beet salad and the pappardelle pasta with boar ragu."

  • "This place keep impressing me for it's food, wine and service. The waiters and matre'd make you feel special and comfortable. We had the boars ragu dish again, started with stuffed dandoline flower appitizers. The wine list is excellent, definately over priced, but excellent. I'd love to visit on a non special occasion to relax a it more and just enjoy the food and service."

  • "This is one of my favorite places. I eat there at least once or twice a month. Food is constantly good. However on this night the service was a little underwhelming. However, when I made a poor wine choice the manager picked out a better one for us. Very nice touch."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed a couple appetizers and pastas. We were fortunate to get a quiet outside table. Highly recommended a meal at Piccolo Sogno Due."

  • "I'm Italian and have a taste for good food. I should have been a chief as I can whip up a meal with any items I may have in the kitchen. Been to many Italian restaurants and was not impressed with Piccolo. Very bland lacking the wow factor. Come on its pasta it's not that complicated. I had the linguine and clams bit into a rock in the clams and pasta was al Dante"

  • "This place really deserves to be far more crowded. Maybe we went on a slow night. The food and service are spectacular. And an unexpected feature is the awesome outdoor seating they have. It's not at street level, so you don't feel like you are sharing your table with expectorating passer-bys. Will be back soon. "

  • "We had guests from out of town and they remarked it was the best Italian food they had ever had. The polpo appetizer was tender and fantastic, all the pastas entrees were delicious and the halibut was flaky and moist. Leave room for the cannoli and tiramisu."

  • "Piccolo Sogno Due is the sister of a terrific restaurant that has been on Halstead for ages. PSDue is new, bright and accepting. The food is terrific, at least as good as the original. Service as very accommodating. It is my new favorite spot for lunch. "

  • "Piccolo Sogno Due is one of the best restaurants in Chicago! The food is amazing- especially if you like outstanding vegetarian preparations, pasta and seafood. In particular the eggplant timbale and the beet salad are wonderful and the biscotti are a perfect ending. I have had a number of great pasta dishes and grilled tuna as well. The interior is beautiful and the service is excellent. "

  • "I had the monk fish and it was terrible. It tasted like cod."

  • "The entrees were very big and therefore was not able to enjoy our main course as it arrived immediately after we finished the entrees. My pet peeve is that you take time to choose the wine for them to tell you they do not have it. How difficult is it to put a red dot on the wine that is no longer available."

  • "Wonderful experience from start to finish. Wine selection was exactly what we were looking for and the atmosphere was perfect. The staff was incredibly attentive without being pushy. We stayed and enjoyed ourselves for three hours and never once did we feel like we were being rushed out the door. Food was delicious, cooked perfectly and fit well with the restaurant's atmosphere."

  • "The food was a taste-sensation. The service was exceptional, the pasta was fresh, the salads wonderful, the drinks generous, and even the biscotttis were memorable."

  • "Delightful service, excellent menu. Ravioli dish was a amazing with peas and fava bean. Husband had the halibut and rapini. So good!"

  • "The food was very good, but not outstanding--a bit of a disappointment, given the consistently outstanding food we have had at Piccolo Sogno Uno. Soft-shell crabs had a sauce that did not particularly enhance the crabs; the two of us who ordered them both felt we would have enjoyed them more had they been fried plainly, served with lemon and butter. One diner had pasta with wild boar sauce--again, good, but not outstanding. Rather than the rich, cinnamon-enhanced flavor that characterizes a good "cinghiale" salsa, the flavor was that of a rather ordinary, if well-prepared, veal-pork ragu. Soup and appetizers were outstanding."

  • "Don't get me wrong, it was nice here, but the food was hardly inspiring. We had the antipasti platter to start, which was ok, and the taglioni and agnello for the mains. The taglioni was just "nice". I found the lamb in the agnello to have a slight rubbery je ne sais quoi, but wasn't entirely unpleasant. The same cannot, however, be said of the fregola. Overly buttery and salty pretty much sum it up. The flavors of the agnello were not, o my humble taste buds, balanced nor complimentary. It tasted like three separate dishes that weren't even trying to be friends, with none of them being particularly nice people. Service was great, though."

  • "Had a group of 6 people with a variety of tastes. We had Marybella as a server...she was awesome! She knew the menu and the wine list well. She was very friendly and fun as well. The food was excellent as well. I will return soon."
